Carl Schmelter, 82, of Wallingford, husband of the late Christine (Rideout) Schmelter, passed away June 19, 2022 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was born in Meriden on December 18, 1939, a son of the late Albert and Eva (Pelatzky) Schmelter. Carl served in the United States Army and then worked for Allegheny-Ludlum until he retired. Carl loved to travel and visit the casinos. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his son, Troy Schmelter; his daughter, Valerie Roy and her husband, Dana; his son, Keith Schmelter and his wife, Julie; his step-daughter, Bethann Boucher; his step-son, Paul Trombly Jr. and his wife, Patti; and his brother, Donald SchmelterCarl's family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 5 pm until 7 pm. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Thursday at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
