Camilla Hintergardt Obituary

Camilla (Katie) Hintergardt, 89, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Gruver, Texas passed away on May 8, 2023 in Denton. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Gruver Cemetery in Gruver, Texas with Pastor Donald Ward officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman, Texas. Camilla (Katie) Joy Bumpus Lunsford Hintergardt was born March 12, 1934, in Cee Vee, outside of Childress, Texas. She was one of nine children born to Luther (Pete) Murphy and Viola (Vida) Mae Bumpus. While attending high school in Paducah, she was an avid basketball player. She enjoyed playing dominoes and spending time with her family. She married Robert Loo Lunsford January 10, 1953, in Matador, Texas. She and Robert had three daughters, Janis Lee, Linda Kathryn, and Donna Ruth. Robert passed away in July of 1980. She married Don (Bud) Hintergardt August 26, 1992, in Dalhart, Texas. Bud passed away in December of 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Simanonok of Richardson, Texas; three granddaughters, Lisa Spurgin of Denton, Texas, Krista Koons of Justin, Texas, and Erin King of Denton, Texas; four great grandchildren, William Spurgin and Janice Spurgin of Denton, Texas, and Daniel Koons and Parker Koons of Justin, Texas; brother Jay Bumpus; and sister, Linda Nauck.
