Mr. James Edward McCray, 64 of Madison Heights, Virginia, departed this earthly life on Friday, October 27, 2023. "Mac" or "Junebug", as he was affectionately known by, was born February 27, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late James Edward McCray, Sr. and Lillian McDaniel McCray, who survives. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Moss; his maternal grandparents, John B. McDaniel and Margaret L. McDaniel; paternal grandparents, Oscar McCray, Sr. and Beulah S. McCray. Mr. McCray was employed by Sam Green Vault Company in Madison Heights, Virginia for forty-one years. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, Virginia. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of thirty-six years, Tammy L. McCray of the residence; three sons, James E. McCray, III (Kyndal), Jordan E. McCray, Sr. (Chelsea) and Keith Moss; three grandchildren, Jordan "JJ" McCray, Jr. , Maci Lynn McCray, and Jeremy Moss; his loving mother, Lillian McCray; four sisters, Brenda McCray, Barbara Dawson, Beulah Coleman (James), and Adelene Avery, all of Lynchburg, Virginia; one brother, Walter McCray (Diane); one aunt, Julia Rucker; three sisters-in-law, Terry Lovelace, Pat Smith (Grayland, Sr. ), and Sandra Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Lovelace (Valeria) and Jerry Lovelace (Jane); and a host of other relatives and friends.
