Caleb (affectionately "Cabes" Caby Baby) departed this earthly plane with courageous acceptance and grace on August 19th, 2023. Enjoying and engaging in the company and wit of his loving family and friends (Thank you Thompson Hospital staff for turning a blind eye to the room that overflowed with too many humans, spilling their love. ) Caleb's heart, that held so much love, so much experience and gratitude weakened and the beating of it stopped. Prepared by his faith, he was sent forth to a place he knew well and welcomed, freed from the physical body that accompanied and challenged him in this life. Blessed to be born into the Makepeace Family fold on November 6 th 1978, Caleb experienced a unique set of life circumstances. Adored by his mother Mary (Pepp) Makepeace, his father Jake Makepeace, his two siblings, Jeff and Jennifer Makepeace and his dear "Gia" (Shirlie Gross Pepp), describing his experience as "well rounded" is an understatement. Always a good sport, and often with no choice in the matter, Caleb's family encouraged him and maybe even forcefully pushed him to stretch the perceptions of his capability, embracing the challenging obstacle that was his physical body. He knew it and appreciated it greatly and with humor, endurance and humility. Those three words, the essence of the wad(lump, mass, chunk, hunk, pile, clump) of energy that culminated into the human we knew as Caleb Makepeace. He was independent, resilient, and driven to challenge himself. He was joyful, sidesplittingly hilarious and game for just about anything. A graduate of Naples Central School, a dedicated party animal at SUNY Brockport and graduate of FLCC, Caleb made many lifelong friends. A big fan of Bonfires and camping trips, keeping up with his peers on his four-wheeler, running around his home community of Naples, he gained the confidence to leave the safety of the small town. He made the bold move to join his brother Jeff in Fort Collins Colorado in 2001. Caleb found love and married in Colorado. He worked at ADP, advancing his way up through the ranks with pride. He was well respected in his position, revered for his communication skills and charming disposition. He retired in 2018, following his return to Naples. In Naples, Caleb reunited with the nurturing family and community that gave him his wings. He enjoyed hours at the community park, racing his RC cars, flying his drone to all of the beautiful vistas his body could not take him. He loved Euchre night, family Sunday night dinner and the Buffalo Bills. He loved the laughter and the company he shared with everyone that he encountered. Wintering in Baja California Sur, Caleb was well known for his slick dance moves, his respectable pursuit of a good time, his love of fried fish, Farkle and Sunshine. Caleb was a man of deep faith, a devotee of Kriya Yoga and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He spoke often of the quantum field and a higher power with the intelligence of a human that "gets it" on a profound level and the humility of a human that understands nothing and continues to be astounded. These conversations were engaging for many and mind bending for others. You know who you are and you loved him for it. He loved you. Caleb was love. He was a gifted orator, telling story after hilarious story of the experiences he had in his remarkable life. He spoke of writing a collection of stories, an autobiography. It never did happen beyond its title. ". . . and then I shit my pants". The stories live on. The stories of a brilliantly lived life, bringing a smile and a warm rush of sweet emotion. He endured and laughed it out until he could laugh no more. A beautiful life lived and a wonderful way to exit. Caleb is predeceased by his maternal Grandparents Richard and Shirley Pepp, His paternal grandparents James (Unadah) Makepeace, Thelma (Tom) Rocklin, his aunt Donna Pingery, his brother Jeff Makepeace, Sister-in-law Jennifer (Hickey) Makepeace, nephew Benjamin Makepeace and niece Addison MakepeaceHe is survived by his mother Mary Makepeace, father Jake (Wendy)Makepeace, former wife Pepper Makepeace, sister Jennifer Makepeace-Yerkovich, former brother-in-law John Yerkovich, nephew Jonah (Ally) Makepeace, nephew Malcolm Makepeace, niece Fennel Makepeace, great niece Magnolia Makepeace, aunt Arden Neubauer, aunt Cheryl (David) Hoffman; his friends Frank Mueller & Travis Six (Colorado); as well as his many very loved friends and cousins.
