Burton Charles Hammond of Alpharetta, GA (formerly of Hamden, CT) passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023, in Milton GA. He was born in Port Chester, NY on January 14, 1929. Burton "Burt" was married to the love of his life, Katheryn, for 69 years before her passing in 2020. His two sons Stephen Charles Hammond (deceased; Cecilia) of Alpharetta, GA and Ronald James Hammond (Anne Marie) of Pepper Pike, OH were his pride and joy. He was a beloved grandpa to three grandchildren, Meredith Elaine Schwarz (Mark) of Clarksville, MD, William Chase Hammond (Erin) of Clovis, NM and Hayley Jane Hammond of New York City. He also has three Great Grandchildren, Lainey Alison Schwarz, Calvin James Hammond and Virginia Kay Hammond. Burt began his career as an electrician with Martin Electric in New Haven, CT. He eventually moved to Connecticut Container Corporation where he was Corporate Engineer, then Plant Manager. At the end of his career, he returned to Martin Electric as General Manager. He was a graduate of the Connecticut School of Electronics, Treasurer of the Civitan Club of Hamden, CT and proud veteran of the U. S. Naval Reserve. After retiring, Burt & Katheryn moved to Alpharetta GA to be near family, Steve and Cecilia. Burt spent many days helping Steve with his Boat Butler business. After Steve passed away in 2019 followed by Katheryn in 2020, Burt lived in assisted living facilities. Cecilia became his primary caregiver in those final years. Burt was well-loved by all who knew him. His quick wit, easy smile, sense of humor and willingness to help in any situation made him a treasured friend and family member. He is now with his beloved Katheryn - and while he will be missed, he is truly where he wants to be. Services will be conducted in both Alpharetta, GA and. Hamden, CT. In Alpharetta, the family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 13 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. In Hamden, the family will receive friends at Peter Torello Funeral Home 1022 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden CT 06514 on Friday, September 22 from 4:00 pm - 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, September 23 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518. Otis Lee Powell III, was born on May 9, 1993 to Dawn Odom and the late Otis Powell in New Haven, CT. He attended West Haven High School and Adult Ed in New Haven where he received his High School Diploma in 2011. Otis obtained his CDL license and became a professional truck driver, driving cross country. Otis was a very smart, charming and charismatic man. He was truly one of a kind. He was very outgoing and lived his life to the fullest. Otis was the life of the party. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. If he cared for you, he made sure you were good at all times. He enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his daughter Sky. "The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. . . " John 5:28-29 On Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, Eulalee Moore fell asleep in death. She was an active and faithful dedicated servant of Jehovah for more than 50 years. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 2, 1937 and was the fourth of eleven children, to father Alfred Chase and mother Loretta Muffat both of whom are deceased. Eulalee had eight children. She was predeceased in death by her husband Louis Moore Sr. , her sons, Valentine Moore and Louis Moore Jr. Her brothers, Roy Chase and Carlton Diog. As well as her sisters Doreen Harriott, Veronica Prescott and Nerrissa Chase. Eulalee is survived by her children, Delores Tagg (Michael Tagg), Vivienne Walker (Horace Walker), Angella Anderson (Brian Anderson), Christopher Moore, Sandradene Moore and Debbie Moore. In addition to her children, she is survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd Chase and Danny Chase and her sisters, Marjorie Ulett, Shirley Chase (Thaxter) and Paulette Chase. Eulalee met and married Louis Moore in Kingston, Jamaica over 60 years ago. Eulalee wore many hats during her lifetime. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, counselor, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother and most importantly Jehovah's servant. She was affectionately called "Mama", "Sis", "Ms. Eula", "Mrs. Moore", "Eulalee", "Sister Eula" and "Sister Moore". Eulalee migrated to the United States over 44 years ago. Initially, she lived in Virginia, then relocated to New Haven, Connecticut. There, she was joined by her husband and children and resided for over 43 years. She worked at Regis Health Center (renamed Grimes) and Meade Street as a CNA for 33 years. Eulalee's greatest passion was her love, dedication and service to Jehovah, as well as her family including her brothers and sisters in the faith. She was very active in the ministry, ministering to everyone she met and spreading the good news of the Kingdom. She was tireless in her efforts to provide for her family. She was always there to listen, lend a helping hand and provide wisdom and guidance. Her favorite saying before she made a decision was, "If God's willing". She affectionately refers to others as, "My Dear". Although she lost two sons, Valintine on March 20, 2019 and Louis, Jr. on November 21, 2019. This loss did not weaken her faith in Jehovah instead it strengthened her and drew her closer to Jehovah her God and friend. She will be mourned and truly missed by a host of families and friends. She will always be an inspiration to us all and will be remembered for her loving, caring, faithful, strong and tireless ways. Leon Jay Johnson passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday November 25th, 2023. Leon was married to EddieMae Johnson for 60 years. He was born August 10th, 1940, in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late David Johnson Sr, and Bertha Prince Johnson. Leon graduated from Crosby High School and upon graduation he enlisted into the Armed Forces serving in the Army until he was honorably discharged, at which time he entered the Automotive Industry and worked in that field for over 40 years. If anyone had a question about cars, Leon was the one to call. He loved helping any and everyone. After his retirement from the automotive industry, he went on to work as a driver, transporting children to school at various locations throughout the state. Healways had something pleasant to say about everyone he came in contact with. Leon was loved by all who knew him, and if you asked anything of him, he never said "no", it was always "I will be right there". He served as a bonus Father to many. He loved his New York Giants, and he made sure to arrange his schedule according to when they would be playing. He enjoyed watching the New York Mets baseball team, as well as the UCONN men and women's basketball teams. Leon also had a passion for bowling, in which he served inseveral leagues in Wolcott as well as Waterbury, CT. Throughout his bowling career, The United States Bowling Congress recognized and awarded Leon rings for achieving two perfect games. Golfing was also a passion for Leon. He served in the Long Drivers' League for many years, and was ready to play whenever he could, until he was no longer able to. In addition, he also enjoyed hunting and visiting the shooting range with his brother Charles. While at home, you knew where to find Leon, he was always in the cellar or the garage "tinkering" on anything that he could find. If hewas not "tinkering" he is watching his favorite Western shows. Besides his loving and devoted wife, EddieMae, he leaves to cherish his memory, his son Corey (Stephanie) Johnson of West Virginia, his daughter Terri L. Johnson, Waterbury, CT. , One Grandson Kyle D. Johnson, and two great grandchildren, Madalynn and Robert of West Virginia. A brother Charles (Mary) Johnson, Prospect CT. Three Sister in laws, Annie (Ghee)Owens, Waterbury. CT. , Shirley P. Robinson, New Haven, CT. Mary (Rudolph) Windsor,Chester PA. Two Brother in Laws, Edward Robinson Jr, Milwaukee, WI and Bernard Holmes, Oakville, CT. Two bonus daughters, Lisa Clark, of Indianapolis Indiana, and Marcia Knight, two bonus sons Keith and Kevin Clark Waterbury, CT, and the Craig children, Torrington, CT, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is predeceased in death, by a Brother David Johnson Jr. and a Sister Margaret Holmes and Brother-in-law James Owens. Irma Ivette Martinez-Garcia, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother and friend, passed away on November 24, 2023 at the age of 52 in New Haven, CT. She was born on January 28, 1971 to her parents, Migdalia Garcia and Samuel Martinez. Irma was a kind and compassionate soul who touched the lives of all who knew her. Throughout her life, Irma had a passion for coloring, playing cards, listening to music, and taking care of her children and many others who came into her life. She found joy in the simple things and always had a smile on her face. Irma was a loving and dedicated mother to her children, Kenia Burgos, Angelica Burgos, and Erik Lopez. A devoted grandmother to Macho, Miya, Jiraiya, Bella, and Karter. She was their biggest supporter and always encouraged them to do their best in anything they looked forward to. Irma was a woman full of laughter and took pride in everything she did. She had a strong belief in helping those she cared for and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Irma was a fighter in her own right. She faced life's challenges with courage and determination, never giving up. She will be remembered for her strength and resilience. Irma's life partner, Felix Burgos, preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her children, as well as her parents, siblings, and extended family members. Mary Jane Conroy, age 96, of Hamden, CT passed away November 26, 2023. Born in Bridgeport on October 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Jane Mary (Collins) Conroy, and sister of the late Judith C. McAdams. She is survived by her brother-in-law Charles McAdams, nieces, Dana Ely (Keith) of Kennett Square, PA, Maura Abbonizio (Robert) of Doylestown, PA, and Beth Ann McFadden (Jack) of Toronto, and nephews, Kevin McAdams (Andrea) of Haverford, PA and Brian McAdams of Doylestown, PA. She also leaves 14 grandnieces and nephews, and six great-grandnieces and nephews. Mary Jane began her teaching career in Cheshire, received a Master's in Education from Yale, and in 1956 moved to Great Neck, Long Island, where she was a devoted and respected teacher. She retired in 1988 and returned to her Hamden home, where she was a frequent volunteer at St. Raphael's Hospital, the New Haven school system, the Retired Teachers of Great Neck, the Head Start program, and the Schubert Theater. She also loved volunteering at St. Martin De Porres, and was a recipient of the Apple Award for her many years of service. She served as a Lector and Parish Council member at the former St. John the Baptist Church, where her devotion to her faith and community earned her the diocese St. Joseph Medal of Honor. With family, friends, and her beloved dog Jake by her side, Nancy J. Faughnan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Nancy was born in New Haven on October 27, 1932 to the late Hugh H. and Margaret Stanford Faughnan. Nancy was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Kiley and Marianne Roach, and nephew Bruce Kiley. Nancy was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College and immediately went to work for SNET, where she spent her career before retiring. She couldn't stay retired long, so she would volunteer to give tours of the historic Grove Street Cemetery, giving visitors facts about the notable gravesites. She loved to take day trips throughout New England, and having lunch with her many friends. She was also a big contributor to many foundations, including St. Jude Children's Hospital and the ASPCA animal rescue. Nancy is survived by her nephews, Richard (Elizabeth) Messier, Richard (Linda) Kiley, and Mark (Marsha) Kiley, and her great-nieces and nephews, Ryan Kiley, Maggie Kiley O'Sullivan, Nicholas and Alicia Kiley, and MacHugh Messier, as well as her great-great nephew Patrick O'Sullivan, and great-great niece Norah O'Sullivan. Nancy's family would like to thank all of her friends and neighbors who would always check in on her and tend to whatever she needed. She was truly blessed to have her circle of friends, some who were like family to her. Friends are invited to visit with Nancy's family from 4:00 to 7:00 p. m.
