Burlie Pugh Obituary

Remsen-Burlie {Jones} Pugh, 102, a life-long resident of Remsen passed away on April 21, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born on May 4, 1920 in Remsen, a daughter of William and Burlie Brant Jones. She graduated from Remsen High School in the Class of 1938 and married Willis Pugh on September 7, 1940. The couple operated a dairy farm on Fairchild Road for many years. Burlie worked for the N. Y. S Troopers Troop D for 39 1/2 years. Favorite pastimes of Burlie were spending time with her family, watching Syracuse basketball, playing cards, and spending time at their camp. Burlie and Willis privately maintained the Hall District School #12, a one room schoolhouse. Burlie is survived by her children, daughters, Marleen {Rich} Asaro, Joanne {John} Saupp, Barbara Spencer, son, Robert {Glenda} Pugh; 10 beloved grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a special sister- in- law, Eleanor Jones. She was predeceased by husband Willis in 1993, sisters, Erma Ingersoll, Elizabeth Pritchard and Winifred Newman, brothers, Oliver, Bud, Walter, and Bill Jones.
