A chapter was closed on November 18, 2023, in a wonderful memoir of life when James Lee Prasek, age 65, of Crosby, Texas, passed away in his home surrounded by those who loved him dearly. This memoir began the day he was born, February 27, 1958, in Baytown, Texas to Arthur Lee and Lolreen Prasek and tells an inspiring story of an honest, helpful, simple man with a good sense of humor and unconditional loving heart. James began and lived out his entire life in Crosby, TX. During his childhood and adolescent years, he enjoyed playing his two favorite sports, baseball and football. When not on the diamond or running plays on the football field, he could be found on a different type of field helping his dad bale hay, working in the vegetable garden, making sausage or sprucing up his 67 Nova. Being a country boy at heart inspired him to purchase 8 acres of land when he was only 19. You could often find him on one of his tractors moving dirt, smoothing dirt or just thinking about what to do with dirt, so he could perfect the land. He spent years cultivating, grooming, fencing, and preparing for what would become the place he, Jenny, Josh and Jess would call home. His heart and soul, as well as his hard-working hands, went into every part of it. James started the seventy-five matured trees as acorns in Styrofoam cups. Once this family home was established, he would enjoy riding around the property on his side by side to check on whatever needed to be done. When his work was complete, you would find him sitting next to the pond, he so dearly loved, either fishing, feeding the fish, or just taking in the serenity of it all. In his spare time, if James wasn't fishing at the pond or BBQing his favorite foods, you could find him relaxed in his favorite chair watching baseball and football games, shows about rebuilding and racing cars or classics such as The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show and Wagon Train. As much as he loved these classics, he also loved listening to classic country music and watching The Voice. James deserved every sense of peace or relaxation that his coveted pastimes provided him after working as a supervisor for Total Petrochemical and retiring after nearly 40 years. His dedication to the company for so many years is probably why he never felt the need to rush through anything. Instead, he would simply say, "I'm pacing myself. " He had it figured out. . . what a true motto to live by. A memoir of a simple life is what defined James. His love for God, family, friends, the Astros and his German Shepherd, and buddy, Rex, who would ride along with him in his side by side or lay at his feet has all been a part of his story in all or certain chapters of his life. Though the last chapter was not how any wanted it to end, the writing on those pages is a collection of words that showed exactly who he was throughout his entire life and the imprints he left behind. It tells of his courageous battle with cancer for over 5 years with strength like no other and a positive attitude. He was called MDA's miracle man, beating their odds twice. After all and any treatments they put his body through that became ineffective, he continued to fight and went into three clinical trials with the hopes that if it didn't help him, it would surely help provide research data to hopefully help someone else. His will power, sense of humor and positivity throughout this fight was admirable and for the love of his family. All these characteristics show just the kind of man he was, not only with his battle with cancer but in all that he did in life. Though this was not the sequence of life expected amongst all his loved ones, God had other plans for James. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 blessed years, Jenny Prasek; who will continue spreading cherished memories; his son Joshua Prasek (fiance Kayla Robinson); daughter Jessica Prasek and grandchildren Kaden, Blandon, Adrianna, and Reagan whom he treasured and enjoyed sharing his fond recollections of childhood with as well as bonus grandchildren Austin, Aiden and Jacob who are soon to be a sweet addition to the family. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish, build a fence, work on a car, just to name a few. He his survived by his parents, Arthur and Lolreen, and siblings Kenneth (Tish), Debra (Scottie), and Susan (Ted). James also had several nieces and nephews which he adored. His family was close and a great love for one another was shared. He will be deeply missed by all. Services are under the direction of Sterling White and will be held at Crosby Methodist Church on November 25,2023 at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at Sterling White Cemetary.
