Bernita Rae Walsh, born Bernita Rae Vold, died peacefully in Gresham Oregon on November 8, 2023 with her sons, John Beisner and Joel Beisner, at her side. Bernita will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her family, and a generous and eternally positive friend within the deaf community. Bernita was born on July 13, 1935 in Chisago, Minnesota to Russell Vold and Ruth Larson, after which the family moved to Seattle, Washington. She graduated from the Washington School for the deaf in 1956 and married Neil Beisner in 1957. John was born in 1958 and Joel in 1961. The family moved to Kent in 1969, where Bernita lived for 48 years. After her divorce from Neil, Bernita married Larry Walsh in 1975, whom she lived side by side with until his death in 1999. Bernita lived independently in Kent for several years until she moved six years ago to the Deaf Assisted Living home, Chestnut Lane, in Gresham, OR. It was a community in which she thrived, and she loved the tight-knit deaf community there. She will be buried at Greenwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Renton, WA, next to her husband Larry Walsh and her parents. The memorial service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, Renton WA at 12 PM on January 2, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Baptist Deaf Church at 1032 Edmonds Avenue NE, Renton WA 98056. In Loving Memory of Samuel Rose November 13, 1937 - October 12, 2023 Samuel Rose, a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on October 12, 2023. He was 85 years old. Samuel's life was a testament to hard work and devotion. He began his journey on November 13, 1937, and for 37. 5 years, he lent his unwavering commitment to Boeing. In 1994, he decided to embark on a new chapter in his life, taking an early retirement and setting out for Alabama, where he enjoyed 22 years of well-deserved relaxation. In 2016, Samuel returned to his beloved Washington State, surrounded by the familiar beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Throughout his life, he remained a steadfast presence for his family, a source of wisdom, love, and guidance. In addition to his professional achievements, Samuel proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years, defending his country with honor and dedication. Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Jorunn, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. He leaves behind two cherished daughters, Susan Rose and Tammy Massick, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He is also survived by his dear brother, Ken Rose, who shared countless memories and experiences with him. Samuel's impact on the world extended to the next generation, as he is remembered by seven adoring grandchildren and two precious great-grandchildren. His memory will live on through the values and love he instilled in all who knew him. Samuel Rose was a man of integrity, dedication, and warmth. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Nancy Joanne Syverson of Kent, Washington passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023 at Valley Medical Center in Renton with her family by her side. Nancy was born in Yakima, Washington on January 10, 1957 to Norris and Jeanne (Verran) Syverson of Wapato. She attended Wapato schools graduating with the Wapato Class of 1975. She remained close friends with many of her classmates throughout the years. She married Terry Umemoto of Wapato in June, 1975 and together they raised two sons, Dustin Umemoto and Dylan Umemoto. Nancy never met a stranger, she could talk to anyone and enjoyed doing so at every chance she got. Nancy had several jobs throughout her life but her biggest accomplishment was that of raising her sons and then becoming a Nana to two special granddaughters, Layton Umemoto and Letti Umemoto. She enjoyed spending time making memories with them, doing crafts and watching them in their various sporting events. She loved them deeply. Although Nancy encountered many medical issues in her lifetime, she faced them with courage and a positive attitude. She was the first child in Washington State to have dialysis. Nancy is survived by her sons, Dustin and Dylan Umemoto, her granddaughters, Layton and Letti Umemoto, her sister Barbara (Mark) Lundberg, her brother Eric Syverson, a very special aunt, Joanne Virgillo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Jeanne Syverson and a nephew Tyler Lundberg. A Celebration of Life is planned for January 10, 2024 (Nancy's birthday) in Kent, Washington. The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Medical Center for the care they provided Nancy and also a special thanks to Nancy's good friend Cindy (Brown) Harrington who was with Nancy throughout many of her medical challenges.
