Dale W. Brauer, 85, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on November 15, 2023. Dale was born April 22, 1938, to Lawrence Brauer and Myrtle (Moore) Brauer in Rockford, IL. On September 7, 1955, he married the love of his life, Rebecca J Hall. Dale and Becky have five wonderful children, R'Shelle Bettger (Dan), Dale Jr, Sharill Rossol (Gary), Andrew (Christine), and Tiffany Staman (Cam), and a daughter-in-love, Julie Arne Brauer. They were blessed with eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Dale was a journeyman toolmaker and worked at Ingersoll Milling Machine Company for fourteen years. He owned and operated Brauer's Grocery and Gulf Station. He then worked at W. A. Whitney as plant superintendent. What he enjoyed most was cars, and he spent years at Dale Brauer Auto Sales. He worked in the car business for fifty years and made many valued friends, especially at L & M Garage and Windsor Auto Sales. Dale's lifelong faith was always close to his heart. He grew up attending Rockford Gospel Tabernacle, where he and Becky were married and started raising their family. They were members of Temple Baptist Church for thirty years where their children grew up. In his later years, he attended Stateline Church in Rockford and New Walk Church where he wintered in Florida. He rarely missed a Sunday. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Harriet Rupp and Wanetta Carlson, and brother, Bradley Brauer. He leaves a legacy of love and good humor. He never met a stranger and never forgot a friend. He is loved and will be missed by so many. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 1pm until the time of the Celebration of Life at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Cremation will take place and Dale will be laid to rest at Willwood Burial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Life Decisions (3107 East State Street, Rockford, IL 61108). The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice Team for the Loving Care they provided for Dale.Show more

MACHESNEY PARK, IL - Fredia Kay Ramsey, age 76, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully at home Tuesday November 11, 2023. Born in Peach Orchard, AR on November 25, 1946 to Walter & Willie Davis (Booth). A devoted volunteer, Fredia enjoyed dedicating her time and talents to the Salvation Army's Giving Tree Campaign each year, and remembered her time spent with the Singles Volunteer Network fondly. She loved staying active playing pickleball, tennis, golf and taking long walks. Fredia truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and spoiling her grandchildren & great grandchildren, her true pride and joy. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend with a smile that lit up every room; she will remain forever in our hearts. In her words "this too shall pass". She is survived by children, Stacey Doty and Derek Ramsey; grandchildren, Ashlie (Ryan) Slomian, Skyler (Brianna) Doty, Xander Doty and Aaron (Danielle) Raezler; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Claude (Sue) Davis; numerous nieces & nephews; and dear friend, Peter Singh. Jean M. (LaRose) Sherlock passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023 with her daughters at her side in Machesney Park, Illinois. Jean was born the daughter of Edward and Ellen LaRose and was raised in Syracuse New York, where she attended St. John the Baptist High School. Jean was preceded by the love of her life, Daniel B. Sherlock, her high school sweetheart; her parents Edward and Ellen LaRose, mother-in-law, Ella May Cowles, father-in-law Daniel B. Sherlock, Sr. , brother-in-law, James Sherlock and great-granddaughter, Brayleigh Mae Scott. Jean is survived by her daughters; Mary (Steve) Gajewski, Linda (Paul) Gangemi, Nancy (Tom) Medicis, Diane (Newton) Baker and Tracey Kordas; her sister Barbara Purcell; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Jean and Dan spent summers at their camp at Brennan Beach where they entertained their family and friends on holidays and weekends. They spent winters at their second home in Largo, Florida where Jean enjoyed the many luncheons and evening parties with her girlfriends. After raising her daughters, Jean went back to school and became an LPN working many years at St Joseph's Hospital before her retirement. Jean loved bowling and accumulated multiple trophies and championships throughout her bowling career. Jean also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Candy Crush and following Syracuse University basketball and football teams. Jean was known for her quick wit and for showing up to all events wearing her trademark bright red lipstick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist/Holy Trinity Church, 406 Court Street, Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will on June 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the church immediately following the visitation.
