Brian Nevill Gryder, 58, of McCamey died on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the McCamey Country Club on October 21, 2023. Brian was born in Odessa, TX on June 6, 1965, to Marsha Wolfe of McCamey TX and Rodney Gryder of The Woodlands TX. Brian's passion was ranching. He always enjoyed being outdoors working on the land he loved. Brian is survived by his parents Marsha Nevill Wolfe and Rodney Gryder; daughters Tori Rubio and husband Marcus, Carolyn Amburn and husband Matthew; five grandchildren Tristen, Jacob, Trinity, Kyler, and Maddie; his brothers Brad Gryder and wife Catharine, Brent Gryder, Gary Wolfe and wife Christine, and Gregg Wolfe and wife Candace; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Roger Wolfe, and grandparents Marshall and Midge Nevill and Arvel and Irene Gryder. Celebration of Life for Brian Gryder A Celebration of Life Memorial in memory of Brian Gryder will be held at the McCamey Country Club, 1101FM 1901 on October 21, 2023 starting at 4pm. A BBQ dinner will be served starting a 5:30 pm. This celebration is open to all who knew Brian. At the celebration we invite anyone who would like to take the opportunity to share a special memory or story about Brian to do so.

Chaplain (Colonel) Lewis G. Burnett, 92 years old, passed away peacefully at his home on November 21, 2023 in San Angelo, Texas. Lew was born on August 3, 1931 in McCamey, Texas, to James and Olive Ruth Burnett. He was ordained as a minister in Iraan, Texas in 1952. Two years later, he graduated from Hardin-Simmons with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1962, he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Divinity. Following his time at Southwestern, he was endorsed as a chaplain in the United States Army. He attended New York Theological Seminary in 1971 where he received the degree of Master of Sacred Theology. During this time, Lew faithfully served his country in both the Vietnam (1965-66) and Korean (1981-83) Wars. Over the years, he accrued numerous accolades and awards, including an 82nd Airborne Division award (where he also received a Master Parachutist badge for completing over 100 jumps), two Legion of Merit awards, an 11th U. S. Calvary award, and a U. S Army Garrison Yongsan & Area III Certificate of Appreciation. At the young age of 16, Lew knew he was called into ministry. This would be the beginning of a life-long commitment to serving the Lord and those around him. Lew met his first love, Pat, as a young teenager and later married her in 1950. Together, they had 3 daughters; Linda, Laura, and Beverly. He spent his early adult life devoted to raising his children, receiving his education, and serving in the Army as a chaplain. He retired in 1985 after serving 30 years in the Army. Upon retiring, he began his 14 years of work with the Home Mission Board where he became the director of military chaplaincy, and the elected chairperson of the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces. In 1999, he married his second love, Diane Burnett. Lew spent his retired years committed to serving his family, friends, and his community. To honor his effort and devotion to his community, he was inducted into the Concho Valley Senior Hall of Fame, and awarded the Senior Corps Community Impact Governor's Volunteer Award. Lew often spent his extra time watching his grandchildren's sports and extracurricular activities, traveling with his wife, and playing domino or card games. He also enjoyed movie dates with his wife and having brunch at their favorite local spots. Lew sincerely loved his family and was delighted at every opportunity to support and lend a helping hand. His care and faithfulness to the Lord and the ones he loved will leave an everlasting impression. Lew was a wonderful, God-fearing pastor, leader, husband, father, soldier, and friend whose warmth and joyfulness set him apart as one who was completely devoted to the care of others. His loving and fruitful spirit touched the hearts and lives of everyone he encountered. He was one who left behind an indelible mark on every person and place he touched. And as Lew would say before anyone left his home, "I Love you! You be careful out there!"Lew is preceded in death by his father, James Odis Burnett; mother, Olive Ruth Burnett; brothers, James Odis Jr. Burnett, Perry Burnett, and Johnny Burnett; sister, Elizabeth Jane Rohrer; sister-in-law, Pansy Bonsworth; daughters, Laura Burnett and Beverly Bowden; and late wife, Patsy Pauline Burnett of 46 years. Lew is survived by his wife, Diane R. Burnett of 24 years; daughter, Linda (Carl) Thomas; bonus children, Mike (Tina) Yono, Doug (Maria) Yono, and Janine McIntyre; son-in-law, Greg McIntyre; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the VA, the many visiting angels Lew had over the years, Shannon Home Health, and their neighbor, Greg Acosta, for their dedication in helping Lew in the final years of his life. They would also like to thank Southland Baptist Church, Pastor Chris Curran, and countless members of the church for praying over and pouring into Lew throughout his life as a member there. The public viewing will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, November 29th at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. The funeral service will held at 10:00am on Thursday, November 30th at Southland Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. Charles H. Davis, Jr. , 90. of McCamey, Texas (formerly from Hopkins, Ml) went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 9th, 2023, at the McCamey Convalescent Center. Charles was born on Feb. 1, 1933 to Charles H. Davis, Sr. and Minerva Davis in Princeton, Indiana. He attended Hopkins High School in Hopkins, Michigan. In school he enjoyed playing sports, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. He actually played on the Hopkins High inaugural football team in 1949, in the days of leather helmets and no face masks. He liked to say (quoting comedian Jerry Clower) that he "was the man what run with the football". After High School, he joined the US Navy and served his country honorably in the Naval Air Force as an aircraft maintenance crew chief for 4 years, during the Korean War. He married his High School sweetheart, Adelia (Mort) on Aug. 15, 1953. Adelia preceded Charles in death in March, 2023 - they were married for 69 years. Together, they raised four boys: Bob, Jim, Alan and Kevin. Charles loved to take the boys hunting and fishing. He also taught his boys the value of hard work on the farm as they were growing up. Charles was employed by Bell Telephone for four decades, first starting in Michigan and then transferring to Texas, retiring in 1994. He was a member Bethel Baptist Church in McCamey, Texas. Even in retirement, he remained busy, always having a new project to tackle and staying very active late into his 80's. He also faithfully cared for his wife Adelia over the last few years as her health was declining. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Adelia (nee Mort), his parents Charles and Minerva Davis, brothers Russell Davis, Omer Wilson, Leck Wilson, Bill Wilson & Bob Wilson, sister June Krug, and grandson Mason Hoskinson. Charles is survived by sons: Robert (Bettie) Davis of Hudsonville, Ml, James (Melodie) Davis of Dorr, Ml, Alan (Elaine) Davis of Midland, TX and Kevin (Angelica) Davis of McCamey, Texas; grandchildren: Jonathan Davis, Jesse Davis, Ethan Davis, Micah Davis, Jennifer Hoskinson Beckett, Tara Davis, Cody Davis, Scott Davis, Dallas Davis, Austin Davis, Avery Davis, Chayton Davis, Nolan Davis and Arwen Davis; great grandchildren: Joshua Davis, Isabella Davis, Finley Daniels, Calliope Davis, Lamont Davis, Audrina Davis, Karsen Davis, Kaden Davis, Dezirae Davis, Remi Davis, Piper Davis, Parker Davis, and his 3 sisters Joy Jones, Imogene Mulder and Judy Kennedy. Jordan Ray Kneupper, 38, of McCamey, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Jordan was born on July 31, 1985, in Fort Stockton, Texas. He loved all animals and always wanted to try and save them if they were hurt or abandoned. He recently started trying to raise chickens and did hours of research on different breeds. He loved sports and excelled in football and track in high school. He started kindergarten and graduated from McCamey High School in 2003. Jordan was the third generation on his mother's side of the family to graduate from McCamey High School. Jordan loved to work with his hands and could learn most anything if shown a few times more than reading about. Jordan loved the simple things about life. He had a love for his family and friends and would give the shirt off his back to help if he could. There were very few times you ever saw him that he didn’t have a smile on his face or trying to play jokes on someone. Jordan is survived by his wife Lupe Kneupper. Two children, a son David Ray Kneupper 18 of Odessa, a daughter Georgieanna Lyn Kneupper 17 of Odessa. His Mother Shari Grisham and her husband Jack of McCamey. His Father Warren Kneupper and his wife Trena of McCamey. His sister Rebakah Hartman and her husband Kyle and their two children Justin and Ella of Pecos. His step siblings, Kristin Vaughn-Ross and husband from Midland and Nathan Vaughn and wife of Tomball. His Nana (Faye Pool) of McCamey, and several Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. Rubio Flores Zarate Sr. age 89 of McCamey, Texas, was called home to be with our Lord and savior on August 30, 2023. He was born on April 7, 1934, to Pablo and Siria Zarate in Cuevitas, Texas. He married the love of his life Victorina Montes in McCamey, Texas on September 1, 1956, where they have shared 67 years together full of happiness and laughter. Rubio was a very hardworking man who enjoyed spending lots of his time outdoors, and never went a day without sharing the love for our lord by praying for 1 hour and 30 minutes a day. He was an oilfield worker for 40+ years where he served as a lease operator, pumper, and several other positions until he retired. Upon his retirement, he loved to spend time outside doing yard work and feeding the neighborhood cats, which soon then ended up claiming his house as their own. Rubio loved to crack jokes and had a persistent smile that lit up any room. "Era una sonrisa andante. "(He was a walking smile) He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Siria Zarate. His siblings, Aurora Flores, Ricardo Zarate, and Fernando Zarate Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Victorina Zarate. Their 4 sons, Ramiro Zarate, Rubio Zarate Jr, Ray Zarate and wife Monica, and Roman Zarate and wife Alma. Their 8 grandchildren, Andre, April, Anthony, Mercedes, Jordan, Hillarie, Aylin, and Madison. And 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Anthony Zarate, Jordan Zarate, Luis "Bubba" Lopez, Nelson Bermudez, Luis Carrillo, and Marcos Arenivar. Baltazar Puentes Rodriguez, age 81 of McCamey, Texas was called to be home with our Lord and Savior at his home on September 23, 2023. He was born in El Ojito, Mx on August 11, 1942 to Rumlado and Simona Rodriguez. He then went on to marry the love of his life, Pilar Quíntela of La Victoria, Mexico where they shared their love for 59 years. One of his biggest accomplishments was, he travel to Washington DC to show his showcase of homemade crafts. Baltazar worked as a ranch hand for a Hartman‘s Farms in Bakersfield, Texas for 18 years. He then went on to retire and spent most of his time outside, working on his hobbies, making knives, recycling cans, and playing cards with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Rumaldo and his mother Simona Rodriguez. His twin brother Gaspar Rodriguez, and Son Gaspar Rodriguez and daughter Marina Rodriguez. He is survived by his loving wife, Pilar Rodriguez of McCamey, Tx. His daughter, Francisca and husband, Rene Acosta of Odessa, Texas. His son and wife, Irene Rodriguez of Monahans, Texas. His daughter, Juana, and husband, Carlos lujan of McCamey, Texas. His son Homero of McCamey, Texas and wife, Yessica Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Mexico. His daughter, Minerva, and husband Genero Rodriguez of Midland, Texas. His Daughter Marina and husband Matthew Ramirez of McCamey ,Texas. Daughter Érica Rodriguez of McCamey, Texas. There will be a rosary recited Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 7:00pm also at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Funeral mass will be Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 403 S. Main St. Fort Stockton, Texas 79735 with Father Francis Njoku officiating. Interment will follow funeral mass. Margaret was born on February 17, 1939, in Fort Stockton, Texas to Fermin and Candida Casas. She went to school in Fort Stockton, Texas. On August 19, 1956, Margaret married the love of her life, Frank C. Dominguez; together they had four children. Margaret worked for the Fort Stockton Independent School District cafeteria for 34 years and retired in 2003. Margaret was also part of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Guadalupanas as well as helping teach catechism for the young children. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Fermin and Candida Casas; son Eddie G. Dominguez; brothers Johnny Casas, Frank Casas, Adolfo Casas, Paul Casas, Jimmy Casas, and infant brother Antonio Casas; sisters Adela Munoz, Anita Pacheco, and Maria Velasquez; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret is survived by her loving husband Frank C. Dominguez, sons Orlando Dominguez and Darren Dominguez and daughter Cynthia D.
