Lanny Clark Moore, 83, of Locust Fork, AL. , passed away on November 22, 2023. Lanny was born in New Albany, MS on September 19, 1940. He and his family then moved to the Avondale area of Birmingham. He went to Woodlawn high school, where he ran track and was a member of the Woodlawn Cavaliers, a gospel and quartet singing group, where he would find his love for music. He developed his musical career by forming singing groups such as, The Teardrops and Britain Brothers. He recorded several songs through his career such as, "Let's Dance" and "I Know" as The Teardrops and "Mary-go-round" and "300 Days" as The Britain Brothers. In 1961, Lanny then joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Walker AFB in Roswell, New Mexico. He worked on B-52 bombers and was very proud of his military service. After his military service, he came home to Birmingham and was working at Hancock Fabrics, where he met the love of his life, Paulette Busby. They resided in Centerpoint, where they raised their three children, Lisa Spruiell, Jessica Lind, and Scott Moore. He retired from Buffalo Rock at the age of 71, and moved to Locust Fork where he has resided until his passing. He loved Alabama football, visiting and long conversations with friends, westerns and Blue Bloods on t. v. , but his greatest love was spending time with his family. That's what he did up until the end. He is preceded in death by wife Paulette Busby Moore; parents Elkin Earl and Birdie Pauline Clark Moore; son Daniel Moore; daughter Darlene Moore; grandson Kevin Calhoun; great grandson Jackson Reid; brothers Tom and Cliff Moore; sister Polly Cummings. He is survived by daughters Lisa Spruiell (Mike) and Jessica Lind (Ken); son Scott Moore (Janet); grandchildren Joey Spruiell, Vickie Reid, Danielle Spruiell, Timothy Spruiell, Keith Calhoun, and Kyle Fitts; great grandchildren Emily Reid, Gavin Reid, Jacob Smith, Nick Smith, Lane Fitts, Alyssa Fitts, and Kevin Camacho; sister Anna Bell Free. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Lemley Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM with Bro. Michael Yopp and Rev. Marie Brown presiding. Burial to follow in Pine Bluff Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Scott Moore, Kenneth Lind, Mike Spruiell, Joey Spruiell, Tim Spruiell, and Keith Calhoun. Lemley Funeral Home is honored to serve this family.
