Ms. Brenda Richardson Raines born March 23, 1943 and passed away September 6th, 2023 as a result of natural causes. She is survived by her sons Denny Raines (Lynn), Timmy Raines (Cindy), Grandchildren John Ryan Bieser,(Gina) Jessica Ralich(Chris) Justin Raines, (Katie) Dusty Raines,(Alivia) T. J. Raines, greatgrandchildren Cheyenne, Ryan, Mayzalyn, Carter, Kinsley, Charlie, Bo and Porter. Brenda was a resident of Gilmer county in Ellijay Ga. in the Coosawattee River Resort that she referred to as "Her Mountain"!!! She enjoyed her 15 plus years of the mountains, birds, bears, deer and flowers until it was too much to bear on her own. A visitation of family and friends will be Tuesday, September 12,2023 at 11:00 am Southern Cremations and Funeral home, 640 McGarity Rd. Mcdonough with a Graveside service immediately following in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to Thank each and every one of you for giving us your precious time to visit with us or if you didn't get to visit we thank you for your thoughts and prayers. She attended Wheeler High School and earned her GED. She loved her work as an event planner. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, climbing to the top of Red Rocks Amphitheater, gazing at the Maroon Bells and swimming in the clear blue waters of Hawaii. She loved Whitney Houston and all things leopard print. She was an avid gardener and won "Yard of the Month" twice! She is preceded in death by her brothers Charles Herring Jr. , Larry Herring and Stanton Herring. She is survived by her daughter, Shea Cheney and grandchildren, Holly and Sawyer Peterson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 10th at Kennesaw Memorial Park. Susan Asay Ayala, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born October 2, 1949, in Powell, Wyoming, the daughter of the late Arnold Asay and Hazel Elledge Asay. Susan worked very hard in her home as a caregiver for her family, and she was known for her servant's heart. She enjoyed crafting, and she was more than an excellent baker. Susan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marietta. She will be genuinely missed by everyone who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ray Ayala, and her brother, Scott Asay. Susan leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Michael Ayala, Carmen Hunnicutt, Christine & Christopher Moore, Jennifer & Michael Berry, and Sarah Ayala; sisters, Linda Simcox and Connie Jensen; brother, Dennis Asay; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Elizabeth was born on October 31, 1994 in Marietta, Georgia. While growing up in Marietta, Elizabeth attended Lassiter High School where she was an active member of the color guard in the championship Lassiter Marching Trojan Band, as well as a tuba player in the Lassiter concert band. Following her graduation from Lassiter, Elizabeth attended Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia where she majored in early childhood education. Throughout her time at Berry, her love for music never faded as she was a member of the Berry band for many semesters. Born with the biggest of hearts and gentlest of souls, Elizabeth was naturally drawn to special education. Following her graduation from Berry, Elizabeth began her teaching career in the pre-k special education program at Findley Oaks Elementary School in Johns Creek, Georgia. During her first two years at Findley Oaks she simultaneously earned her Masters Degree in Special Education because of her deep passion for her students and her desire to prepare them for a positive and meaningful life. She ultimately earned her own special education classroom at Findley Oaks where she was adored by all of her students and colleagues. In her relatively short career, Elizabeth touched dozens of disadvantaged children's lives for the better, the positive impacts of which these children and the world will see for years and years to come. Although Elizabeth was burdened with diabetes, she stood strong and never let it take away from her positivity, her commitment to her students, and her love for her friends and family. Thank you Elizabeth for your beautiful soul and beautiful life. We will all miss you deeply. Michael McNeel Hicks passed away on December 2, 2023 in his hometown of Marietta, Georgia at the age of 82. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 9, 2023 at 2 PM at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta. Family will receive friends beforehand at 1 PM. Michael was born in Marietta Georgia on May 5, 1941 to Jonah Franklin and Inez Virginia Clay Hicks. Michael was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Helen Payne Hicks, for 60 years. He attended Marietta High School. and North Georgia College in Dahlonega. After leaving North Georgia College Michael worked for General Motors in Hapeville from 1962 to 1963. He then worked at Lockheed from 1963 to 1972. For over 30 years, Michael protected Cobb County as a patrolman and detective with the Cobb County Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant. Michael worked in Crimes Against Children and Homicide as a detective during his career. Michael concluded his service to Cobb County working the Cobb Business License Office. Michael was a life-long member of Crestview/Gracepointe Baptist Church in Marietta. Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Payne Hicks; sons Michael Gregory (Julie) Hicks and Jeffrey Travis Hicks; grandchildren Shanley McNeel Hicks, Delaney Ann Hicks and Josephine Helen Hicks and his brother Ronald Franklin (Veronica) Hicks. Michael Arlen Burns, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home in Marietta, Georgia. Mike was born on November 11, 1938 in Iowa to Robert and Juanita Burns. Upon graduating college, Mike had a long career in operational management of commercial leasing organizations. Mike was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mike was married to Karen Morelock for 47 years. Mike is survived by his younger brother, Chris Burns of Indianapolis; sons Robert (Bob) and Brian Burns; and grandsons, Eric and Michael Burns.
