Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p. m. , Monday, April 24, 2023 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mrs. Brenda Gilbreath Entrekin, 80, of Gadsden, who passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. Rev. Scott Hassell and Rev. Jeff Roberson will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge. Brenda was born November 2, 1942 in Hattiesburg, MS to James Calvin and Hattie Mae Gilbreath, but was raised and lived in Gadsden all her life. She retired from the City of Gadsden having worked in the Public Works Department and she and her husband, Owned and Operated "The Card Shop". Brenda was a charter member of the Walnut Park Community Church. She was an avid Auburn football fan and had a heart of gold and helped a world of people along the way. She always had candy in her purse for sharing with others. Brenda had a great love for animals and had a treat to share with them at any time. She never met a stranger. She loved working in her yard, and her plants and flowers gave her joy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William "Ray" Entrekin, brother, James Calvin Gilbreath, Jr. , sisters-in-law, Pat and Kay Entrekin, brother-in-law, Eddie Entrekin, nieces, Kerrie Entrekin and Frieda Entrekin and nephews, Gary Entrekin and Jason Cleveland. Survivors include her children, Leigh Ann (Rob) Gannon, Willie (Kenzie) Entrekin and Diana Entrekin; daughter-in-love, Christe Spears; fur babies, Kobie and Angel; grandchildren, Chelsea (Dustin) Allin, Gabrielle Gannon, Lily Gannon, Jake Entrekin, Jessica Lipe, Courtney Jackson, April Lankford, Dylan Entrekin and Harlee Entrekin; great grandchildren, Elise Allin, Hunter Jackson, Caroline Lipe and Nehemiah Cutrone; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Connie (Barbara) Entrekin, Jerry Entrekin, Babe Entrekin, Jimmy (Charlene) Entrekin, Homer (Linda) Entrekin, Linda Cleveland, Paulette Chandler, Vickie Mobley and Mitzi (Jeff) Pearson and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rob Gannon, Dustin Allin, Dawson Thornburg, Connie Entrekin, Babe Entrekin and Jimmy Entrekin. Honorary pallbearers will be former and present employees of the City of Gadsden Public Works and member of Walnut Park Community Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Walnut Park Community Church, 422 Wilson Street, Gadsden, AL 35904. Special thanks to the staff at Columbinia Health and Rehabilitation. The family will receive friends from 12 p. m. until the hour of service at the funeral home Monday.
