Robert Fulton III, age 71, passed away on September 12, 2023, in Palisade, Colorado. He was born on June 19, 1952, to the late Robert and Laura Lee Fulton. Robert was a man of strong character and unwavering determination, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
From a young age, Robert's love for swimming was evident. Despite a tragic accident that left him paralyzed at the age of 16, he never let his physical limitations hinder his passion. With remarkable tenacity, he became a certified lifeguard, using his skills to teach and help others. Robert's resilience and dedication were truly inspiring, surpassing the expectations placed upon him.
In addition to his love for swimming, Robert was an accomplished entrepreneur. He developed and patented a groundbreaking process to create a biofuel from algae, which he named and trademarked as "BioCoal. " His unwavering determination led him to tirelessly promote this technology, showcasing its benefits to the world. Robert's entrepreneurial spirit also led him to co-found "Deadly Duck Spirits," a venture that showcased his innovative thinking. Throughout his career, he owned and led Compact Contractors of America (CCA) and worked as a sales representative for Kenda Tires and Autodesk.
Robert's personal life was marked by his deep love and care for his family. He devoted himself to his mother, Laura Lee, until her passing in 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his sister, Leslie, and his beloved cats, Tessa and Fatto. He is survived by his cousins: Stacy Yost, of Oakland, CA; Robin Honey, of Mexico City, Mexico; Randle Smith, of La Jolla, CA; Laura Krumpholz, of Ventura, CA, and Holly Turner Lewis, of Tyler, TX.
Beyond his professional and personal achievements, Robert enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He found solace and joy in shooting, gaming, movies, computers, nature/wildlife, wheelchair design and racing, swimming, martial arts, and the scientific process. His inquisitive mind and practical engineering skills were evident in everything he pursued.
In honor of Robert's memory and his deep compassion for abandoned and homeless animals, contributions can be made to the Grand Rivers Humane Society (https://grandrivershumane. org/). Robert's love for animals was profound, and he often supported animal shelters throughout his life.
Robert Fulton III will be remembered as a man of great determination, unwavering spirit, and compassionate nature. His legacy of resilience and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
