Bradley Dale Knutson, age 63, of Toronto, SD passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his home in Toronto after a 7-year battle with cancer. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a. m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD. Burial will be in the Toronto City Cemetery, Toronto. Visitation will be from 3 - 6 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Leganger Lutheran Chruch in Toronto and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, in Clear Lake, SD is entrusted with the arrangements. Bradley Dale Knutson was born September 14, 1960, in Clear Lake to Hazel (Biermann) and Kenneth Knutson. Brad graduated from Deubrook High School in White in 1978. After high school he continued working construction with his father, eventually starting his own business, BK Repair and continuing his father's work. He spent a lot of time fixing and building things. In 1985 Brad married Carie Lucas. They resided in rural Toronto after marriage, where they would eventually start a family and had three children. Brad loved volunteering to help in his community. Brad was a volunteer on the Toronto Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for a time. He served on the town board where he would eventually serve as Mayor of Toronto for 13 years. Brad owned and operated the Toronto Food Mart for several years and was a member of Leganger Lutheran Church. Brad enjoyed spending his time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He spent many summers camping on the weekend with his family. After his diagnosis he spent a lot of time doing woodworking and building keepsakes for family. Loved ones grateful for sharing life with Brad; Carie Jean Knutson of Toronto; three children: Cory (Amber) Knutson of Tea, Tony Knutson of Toronto, Becka Knutson of Madison; six grandchildren: Aiden, Carson, Charles, Oliver, Theodore, and Alexander; his mother, Hazel Knutson, of Hendricks, MN: and mother-in law, Ruth Lucas, of White, SD; one brother: Wayne (Peggy) Knutson of Toronto and one sister Sheri (Wayne) Kelm of White as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Oscar Knutson and father-in-law Richard Lucas.

Al Swenson, age 70 of Toronto, SD passed away at his home on Sunday, March 26, 2023. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake. Houseman Funeral Home of Clear Lake is entrusted with the arrangements. Alan Lee Swenson was born in Watertown, South Dakota on June 11, 1952 to Francis and Ruby (McBride) Swenson. He grew up in Brooklyn Center, MN. Al married Mary Horner and together they had four sons that they raised in Circle Pines, MN until moving to Altamont, SD. For the last 40 years he spent his life with Wanda Werdel at his side. Al worked various jobs throughout his life time from working for Mel Moss's station, Dennis Norton excavation, Doug Gantvoort restoration and lastly for Terry Hanna as a truck mechanic. Al moved to Toronto after he started working for Hanna Trucking and resided there until his death. Some of Al's enjoyment over the years came from driving race car at local tracks. Teaching himself how to fly an airplane and being able to fly around the area was something he really enjoyed. For years he thoroughly enjoyed his hotrods and motorcycles. Grateful for having shared Al's life is friend, Wanda Werdel, Toronto, SD; his sons: Guy Swenson, Osseo, MN, Dylan Swenson, Clear Lake, SD and Klinton (Jayna) Swenson, Brandt, SD; his six grandchildren: Cody Swenson, Avery Swenson, Evan Swenson, Ty Swenson, Josiah Swenson and Kooper Swenson; one sister, Linda Musch and countless friends. Dona Westley, age 74, of Toronto, SD, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Toronto City Cemetery, Toronto, SD. Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD is entrusted with the arrangements. Dona Eileen Westley was one of eleven children born to Eldon and Leona (Carter) Stone on September 11, 1948, in Gary, SD. She attended school in Gary and graduated in 1966. She spent a good number of years babysitting the neighborhood kids until they were all in school. She then took a job as a cook for Deubrook Area Schools in 1991 and continued to work there until she retired in 2019. Dona was united in marriage to Gordon Westley on February 26, 1972 and together raised five sons: Dale, Danny, Doug, Steven and Bruce. She enjoyed watching the Braves and especially enjoyed watching her grandkids in whatever they were doing. She was a member of the Leganger Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared Dona's Life is her sons: Dale, Danny, Doug, Steven (Cori) and Bruce (Christina) Westley; six grandchildren: Katelynn, Kassidy, Riddick, Quintin, Jaycob and Thea; four great grandchildren: Trey, Tynslee, Taylee and Laiken; siblings: Carolynn Webber, Ellen (Albert) Schulte-Bekaert, Lenae (Myron) Deslauriers, Craig (Deb) Stone, Brian Stone, Wade (Sandy) Stone, Dane (Jody) Stone, Cricket Stone, Nancy Stone and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wiesner was born January 11, 1931 in Deuel County, South Dakota to Roland and Ida (Schiernbeck) Smith. She grew up in Deuel County and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Paul Wiesner on April 20th, 1952. They moved to a farm West of Toronto, SD where they lived for 62 years farming side by side raising their family. She enjoyed working with flowers, trees, and her lawn. She was a member of Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto where she helped with Sunday school, ELCA and help on the funeral committee. She was also a long-time member of the Jolly Workers extension club. Her husband Paul died in December of 2014. She then moved to Clear Lake in March of 2015 where she lived until October of 2022 when she entered the Estelline Care Center. Maxine is survived by her two children: Warren (Mary Ann) Wiesner, Sioux Falls, SD and Gail (Dennis) Toft, Gary, SD; four grandchildren: Chad (Jamie) Wiesner, Clear Lake, SD, Karen (Cory) Akin, Castlewood, SD, Carmen Toft, Sioux Falls, SD and Sarah (Bryan) Kraft, Canby, MN; eight great grandchildren: Hayden, Adysyn and Carsen Wiesner, Olivia, Karli and Natalie Akin and Cora and Kyla Kraft; one sister, Phyllis Salt, Lehigh, PA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Raymond Tangwall, age 86, of Toronto, SD passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Brookings Hospital, Brookings, SD. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022 with Visitation one hour prior to the service at the Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD. Raymond Holger Tangwall was born November 11, 1935 to Arthur and Edna (Gallagher) Tangwall in Duluth, Minnesota. He was raised in Brainerd, MN where he received his education. He continued his education and then worked as an X-ray technician and a Physician's Assistant. During his medical career he met the love of his life Melody Meyer. They were united in marriage on June 29, 1974 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Stirum, ND and between them they had seven children. They raised their family in Ashley, ND, Herreid, SD and Aberdeen, SD. Following Ray's medical career, he became an insurance agent and enjoyed driving school bus. Raymond was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served as a lay minister for many churches. In January of 2012, they moved to Toronto, SD where they enjoyed their retirement years being close to their family. He was a member of Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto. Ray enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and going on trips and vacations. Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone he met. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Melody Tangwall; seven children: Randy (Carol) Tangwall, Ramona (Ron) Morris, Robin (Robin) Krein, RaeAnn (John) Haaland, Heidi Woodard, Aaron Tangwall and Laura (Nick) Kuntz; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna; two brothers: Arthur and Douglas Tangwall, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter.Show more
