Bonnie Reed Obituary

Bonnie Sue Reed was born June 16, 1942, in Ola Arkansas to Irvin and Lillian Rowland. She grew up in a loving home with four siblings: one brother and three sisters. Bonnie had the wonderful privilege of being a twin with her sister, Betty. They stayed connected throughout their lives. As they grew up they would spend time sitting in the car singing, walking in the rain and eating raw onions (like an apple). Bonnie always put her family first. It was her life to care for those who were close to her. Bonnie met Jack Reed and fell in love with him. They were married on June 18, 1958, in her parents' home in Fairfax, Oklahoma. They were married for sixty one years. Life got busy after they were married. Jack made a career in the US Army, which took them to lots of different military bases, where children started to come on the scene. They started in California but in 1960 they were transferred to Vicenza, Italy. Janice and Alice were both born while stationed there. Then back to Oklahoma, where he was stationed at Tinker AFB in Enid. Mark Reed was born while in Enid. Oversees was the next duty post, Seoul South Korea, and along came Dewaine. The family came back to the states to finish Jack's career; he was stationed in Colorado and Texas. After being discharged as a Staff Sergeant, the Reed family settled in Pawhuska. Bonnie was very proud of her husband for all he accomplished in the Army. Jack came along after the military career was over. Bonnie and Jack loved helping people. They were always on the go trying to help people with whatever issues they might be dealing with. Bonnie loved caring for others. Bonnie loved going to church. They were very active in the Pentecostal church in Pawhuska and Enid. As adults, Bonnie and Bet loved doing things together, sewing clothes for the girls and cooking was always a reason to get together. Bonnie loved the holidays. No matter what holiday, everyone would gather at their house for dinner. Bonnie would have it already by noon and they would eat till five. No one went away hungry. Bonnie's go to meal was beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes, they were even part of every holiday meal. Pies were probably Bonnie's favorite thing to make. After Jack passed Bonnie was lost. The last few years have been hard on her. Bonnie went to sleep on Tuesday night, but did not wake up on Wednesday, October 5, 2023. She went home to be with Jesus. Bonnie will be missed by all who knew her. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Ali (Ray) Massey and son, Jack (Misty) Reed; her twin sister, Betty Walker; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack; two sons Mark Reed and Dewayne Reed; one daughter Janice Duplissey; her parents Irvin and Lillian Rowland; grandson Tim Massey; great grandson Laiden Massey; brother Jim Rowland; two sisters Peggy Lyons and Sherly Taylor; granddaughter Melisa Reed. Funeral for Bonnie Reed will be 10:00am Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in the Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were made by Powell Funeral Home I Hominy, Oklahoma.
