Bruce Alan Faust, 76, of Overbrook, KS passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the V. A. Hospital in Topeka, KS. He was born November 12, 1947 on the family farm in rural Overbrook, KS. He was the first child of Ira Junior Faust and Dorothy Jean (Rice) Faust. He went to Twin Mound, a one-room schoolhouse in Douglas County through 8th grade and graduated from Overbrook Rural High School with the class of 1965. Bruce joined the United States Air Force in 1966 and served four years for our country including two tours in Vietnam. He was discharged in May 1970. He also served in the Kansas Air National Guard from September 1973 until October 1979. He was united in marriage to Pamala Bagby on September 4, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. They shared over fifty-two years of marriage. Bruce was employed for several years at the Kansas Department of Transportation. He then bought and operated Bob's Service Station in Overbrook in August 1979 until 1984. He went on to work at T. A. R. C. for thirteen years before becoming a truck driver for Lowes in Topeka. He finished his work career at the Topeka Public Schools, U. S. D. 501 as a truck driver. Bruce was an avid and skilled outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and reloading his own ammunition. As a retiree, he was frequently seen riding his electric scooter accompanied by his trustworthy dog trotting beside him all around town and the city lake. He was a 58-year member of The American Legion Anderson-Raible Post 239 and a lifetime member of National Rifle Association. Mr. Faust was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Dorothy Faust. He is survived by his wife, Pamala of the home; a son, Alan Faust of Overbrook; two brothers, Bernie Faust and his wife, Linda of rural Overbrook and Brian Faust of San Jose, CA; a sister, Janet Faust and her husband, Fred Dimick of Berryton; and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Bagby of Overbrook: plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is planning a private inurnment at Twin Mound Cemetery in Douglas County, KS, followed with a Celebration of Bruce's life at a later date. Mary Elizabeth Biesemeyer, 97, of Overbrook, KS passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS. She was born October 7, 1926 in Boonville, MO the daughter of William Buckley and Bessie Pearl (Mosier) Buckley. She grew up and attended schools in Boonville, MO. She graduated from Boonville Junior-Senior High School with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Howard Hugo Biesemeyer in 1946. They settled and raised their four children at Weatherby Lake. , MO. After 30 years of marriage, they divorced. Then she met and married William "Bill" Turnbaugh in 1985. At the time she was in New York City, NY working for TWA. She and Bill explored NYC and she had the time of her life. Prior to having children, Mary acted as the bookkeeper for her brother-in-law's (Ellsworth "Cass" Cassing) and husband's heating and air conditioning business in Boonville, MO. They later moved to Wichita, KS, then moved to the Kansas City area in 1958. In 1974, she began working for Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, transferring to NYC in 1980 to work at LaGuardia and J. F. K. Airports. Mary had a gift of singing. She liked singing with choirs and had a chance to sing competitively. It wasn't unusual for her to just burst out in song. Way before the time of female athletes, Mary was one. She enjoyed swimming, ice skating, roller skating, and golf. Later in life she loved doing jigsaw puzzles, playing scrabble and reading. She will be remembered for her fun-loving personality, her contagious laugh, and her love of being outside. She loved the heat and sitting outside in the sun. That earned her the nickname of "Sun Goddess". Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband's, Howard and Bill; a son, Michael; two brothers, Charles William and Walter Buckley; a sister, Marguerite Buckley Cassing; and Lyn's partner, Glynn Graham. Surviving family includes, daughter, Lyn Cheek of Liberty, MO, son, Matt Biesemeyer of Overbrook, KS, daughter, Laura Biesemeyer and her husband, Chuck Farrell of Overbrook, KS. Fred Samuel Cook was born on June 14th 1962 in Gardner, KS to parents Gayle Eugene Cook and Rose Marie Newland Cook and passed away in the early hours of October 12th 2023 in his home in Lawrence, KS. He also lived in Osage, Kansas when he was young where his mother worked as a school teacher and his father worked as a chiropractor. He was active in boy scouts and the debate team, loved woodworking and gardening and woke up early to deliver the newspapers around town in the morning. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1980 as salutatorian. He attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence and earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 1987. While he was at school he married Amy Sue Olson at Central United Methodist Church in Lawrence, KS on November 24th 1982. Fred welcomed five children, Samantha Sue (MunLai ) Cook Chong, Gardner, KS; Eric Eugene Cook, Lawrence, KS; David Samuel (Martika) Cook, Kansas City, KS; Isaac Benjamin Cook, Lawrence, KS; and Maxwell Paul Cook, Lawrence, KS. He also had several foster children throughout his life including Alexxus Martinez, Kansas City, KS. He was a dedicated father and husband who loved his family and was loved by his family. He spent his evenings reading stories to his children and teaching them about math, science, faith and God and his weekends teaching them to ride bikes, garden and making pancakes for them. While he was in college he worked for the United States Geological Survey (1987-1990), after graduating from KU he worked on software for point of sale devices at ACI (1987-1990), wireless phone activation and configuration software development at GTE (1990) and network design at Sprint (1991-2007). He earned his master's degree in business administration in 1993 from Baker while working at Sprint. While working at Sprint Fred also patented 72 inventions and had many colleagues he enjoyed collaborating with and was fond of. Later in life he was disabled and struggled greatly for many years always showing courage, bravery and kindness to others even when life was difficult for him. Fred is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Robert Cook; and his parents, Rose Marie and Gayle Eugene Cook. Fred has two surviving siblings, Gaylene Rose Tunison, Austin, Texas; and Theodore Ray Cook, MD (Karolyn, MD), Spring Hill, Kansas. Fred's grandchildren are: Elijah Yi Chong , Gardner, KS; and Charlotte Xuan Ruo Chong , Gardner, KS. Visitation will be at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home in Baldwin City, KS, on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, KS on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Sutton Cemetery 1201 N 300 Rd in Baldwin City, KS following the funeral. Michael A Liberatore, Jr , age 79, of Drexel Hill died peacefully Sunday,October 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family He was predeceased by his parents Michael A Liberatore, Sr and Maureen (nee Darragh) Liberatore as well as his sister Cathy LaRosa He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Jeannette (nee Brodhag) Liberatore, sons Michael (Linda) Bambi, Michael A (Kelly) Liberatore III, Joseph (Staycee) Liberatore and Nicholas Liberatore, grandchildren Kristina, Michael, Casey, Owen, Bella, Nico, Geordan, Brooke, and 7 great grandchildren He is also survived by brother Anthony Liberatore, sister Maureen and her husband Ed Deal and brother in law Michael LaRosa He was born in 1944 in Philadelphia, living his early childhood in the Overbrook neighborhood, in Saint Callistus parish, attending grade school there His family had then moved to the Drexel Hill area, living in Saint Bernadette parish, attending school there with his siblings, Anthony, Maureen, and Cathy He attended high school at Monsignor Bonner graduating in the 1962 class Post graduation he enrolled in the Air Force being camped in Mississippi and Michigan, specializing in communications and computers He returned home to attend Pierce Junior College, where he furthered his education and earned an Associates Degree in computer sciences He created a successful career in computer programming starting at Boeing, and creating his own computer consulting business He dedicated time being involved with little league baseball, youth and high school hockey He developed a fondness for pinochle games and jigsaw puzzles Most important was his love for his grandchildren, especially his grand daughters who were the girls that had him wrapped around their fingers He lived a life that was centered around family Personal information Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday October 13th 9:30am at St Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania 19026 where his Funeral Mass will follow at 11am Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Michael's sister CathyShow more
