Bonnie Jean Braun, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at HCA Hospital Northwest Cypress on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Bonnie was born on August 7, 1927 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Blanche and John Murdock. Bonnie left home at the age of 15 to work in Portland, Oregon as a welder during the World War II emergency ship building government program for the war. She moved to Miami, Florida with her oldest brother, John Murdock. While there the war ended and she recalled how a group of soldiers picked her up as they celebrated the end of the war. Bonnie moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma and worked at a prominent restaurant there. She met her future husband, George Sam Fotenopulos. They married on November 1, 1946 and had four children, Kathy Christene, Sammy George, James Michael and Jacqueline Renea. They were married 18 years when he passed away in 1965 at the age of 48. Bonnie moved to Houston, Texas five years later in the summer of 1969. She met Alfred Joseph Braun and they married on March 4, 1970. They made their home in the Sharpstown area of Southwest Houston. She lost her beloved son, Sammy George Fotenopulos on July 13, 1974. Bonnie had successful careers working for the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce in Bellaire, Texas and eventually investing in real estate after the death of her husband, Alfred Braun, in March of 1994. Bonnie's activities were many; she was an artist, writer of poetry, loved singing old songs from the 1930's and 40's and fishing to name of few. She loved road trips to her beloved Oklahoma. Several of her international travels took her to Bali, Indonesia and Saint Petersburg, Russia. She loved meeting her friends at the Bellaire Cafe for breakfast. In her later years, her daughter, Jacqueline Johnston (Jackie), cared for her until her death. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 18 years, George Sam Fotenopulos, beloved son, Sammy George Fotenopulos and her husband of 24 years, Alfred Joseph Braun. Bonnie is survived by one sister, Betty Brunetti of Russellville, Arkansas. Her Children: Kathy Christene Henson and husband, Bill Henson of League City, Texas, James Michael Fotenopulos and wife, Pam Fotenopulos, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Jacqueline Renea Johnston of Houston, Texas. Additionally, she leaves behind her adored Grandchildren: Billy Henson and wife, Kang Henson, of Grand Lake, Oklahoma, Gregory Henson and wife, Lisa Henson, of Alvin, Texas, Robert Henson, of Houston, Texas, George Fotenopulos, of Houston, Texas, Michael Fotenopulos and wife, Ladonna Fotenopulos, of Springdale, Arkansas,Dylan Fotenopulos and wife, Denia Fotenopulos, of Bixby, Oklahoma and one granddaughter Lauren Venable and husband, Preston Venable, of Atascocita, Texas. Her Great Grandchildren are: Victoria Henson, Valerie Henson, Anna Henson, Kennedy Fotenopulos, Andrew Henson, Jake Fotenopulos, Noah Fotenopulos, Hudson Venable, Lily Rhyan Fotenopulos and twins Madelyn Venable and Brooklyn Venable. The Pallbearers are: Dylan Fotenopulos, George Fotenopulos, Michael Fotenopulos, Billy Henson, Gregory Henson, Robert Henson, Jake Fotenopulos and Andrew Henson.
