Catherine "Cathy" Cook, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Alamance County to the late Hollis Elwood and Lynda Winfrey Cook who survives. Cathy attended the Worship Place in Greensboro. She participated in Special Olympics where she excelled in Bowling and Basketball. She enjoyed Wrestling and was a Duke Fan. There are no perfect words to say, but Cathy was a special person created by God to enrich the lives of her family and friends. Her family expected Cathy to always be there, forever. To know her was to love her. Cathy never met a stranger, and whoever she came into contact with instantly fell in love with her. She was never shy, and loved asking people in any store she walked into for a dollar… which most of the time she got because you just couldn’t resist it. Cathy loved her baby dolls, pocket books, a Pepsi, and a McDonald’s hamburger. She would constantly tell every guy she saw "you my husband" followed by a kiss on the cheek. Cathy absolutely loved Thanksgiving, Christmas, and her birthday. Cathy’s favorite song to sing was "Jesus Loves Me". She could fill a room with so much love and laughter, and these next few weeks are going to be so hard without her here to make us laugh. Cathy was not afraid to tell you she loved you or if you were bothering her. If you didn’t get the chance to meet Cathy, you truly missed out on someone great. "To our girl Cathy", we love you more than you could have ever imagined. We are going to miss you so much but we know God had better plans for you, and He just thought you needed to be with Him. We know you are no longer in pain or suffering, and we have peace knowing you’re with Jesus. We know pawpaw Hollis and uncle Jeff met you with opened arms. We can’t wait to see you again someday soon. We love you. She is survived by her mother, Lynda Cook of the home; her brother, John Cook and wife, Shelia of Whitsett; sister-in-law, Melissa Cook of Burlington; four nieces, Hollie, Ryan, Victoria Cook and Alyssa Kelleher; nephew, Levi Cook.
