Bobbie Jo Bruce, age 41, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Bobbie was born January 30, 1982, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Bob and Georgia (Vanderhoof) Bruce. She was raised and lived most of her life in Red Oak, Iowa. Her greatest joy came from her kids. Bobbie was preceded in death by her mother: Georgia Bruce and sister: Barbara Wilson. Survivors include her father: Bob Bruce of Red Oak, IA; children: Kammie Bruce, Emily Pierce, Karter Archer, Kyson Sickels, Kaeden Sickels, and Kooper Sickels all of Red Oak, IA; brothers: Allen Hale and wife Saundra of Red Oak, IA and Brian Hale and wife Carey of Red Oak, IA; uncles and aunts: Gary Bruce and wife Lynnette of Red Oak, IA; Dennis Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; Jeff Vanderhoof and wife Amy of Villisca, IA; and Karla Bentson of Ames, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Diana Lyne Petty, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Diana was born November 28, 1947, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Bryan and Shirley (Knoke) Lewis. She was raised in Elliott, Iowa, and graduated from Griswold Community High School. Diana was united in marriage to George Petty on June 25, 1965, in Elliott, Iowa. They lived in many different places before settling in Red Oak in 1976. Over the years, Diana worked for Spurgeon's, Houghton State Bank, and owned and operated Jean's Chocolates in Red Oak. Diana and George lived in Marville, Missouri for a couple of years before retirement and then moved to Elliott, Iowa. In 2019, Diana and George moved back to Red Oak. Diana was a member of the Elliott Church of Christ, Order of Eastern Star, Rainbow, Rebekah Lodge, and Elliott Business and Betterment Association. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather: Walter "Buffy" Buffon; husband: George Petty; and sister-in-law: Deloris Schrier. SUSAN E. MILLER Susan E. Miller, 66, Centralia, MO formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO surrounded by family. She was born December 7, 1956, in Omaha, NE the daughter of the late Shirley Matthews and later was adopted by the late Warren and Mary (Armstrong) Braden. She was united in marriage to Rande Montgomery and later she married Wesley Miller. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Shannon Anderson of St. Clair, MO, Kim Sunderman and Curt of Shenandoah, IA, Jessie Montgomery and Christina of Centralia, MO, Elizabeth Davison and Ty of Clarinda, IA, Holly Miller and Zach of Humansville, MO and Jospeh Miller of Humansville, MO; two brothers Bryan Willcoxson and Tammy of Princeton, MN and Kevin Braden and Jan of Bennington, NE; two sisters Julie Willcoxson-Morse and Ronda of Lawrenceburg, TN and Debra Dillow and Mike of Waukee, IA; nineteen grandchildren Sara, William, Nicole, Jordan, Isiah, Noah, Owen, Joyanna, Marlee, Trey, Travis, Isabel, Briseis, Angel, Oliver, Emery, Addison, Olivia and Raylan; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, one brother preceded her in death. Susan first worked as a mobile pet groomer and later for All Dogs & Cats for several years. She was a member of the AKC, UKC, ABA and AQHA. She enjoyed dancing, assisting with the 4=H horses and loved attending dog shows. She was a mentor to many in the Dog Show and Pet Grooming community. James Buryle Mitchell, Sr. , age 64, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at his home. He was known to many as "Cheech" and was the self-proclaimed "King" of Red Oak. Cheech was born March 13, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Dean and Ethel (Spoon) Mitchell. He was raised in Lucas, Iowa and Chariton, Iowa. He moved to Des Moines when he was very young and throughout the years lived in many different places before settling in Red Oak, Iowa about 30 years ago. Cheech was united in marriage to Gail Floyd on January 31, 1987, in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. Four children were brought to this union: Jimmy, Trisha, Dallas, and David. He later married Jessica Rikke on August 27, 2005, in Red Oak, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Randy, Ty, and Shadow. Over the years, Cheech worked in road construction, drove truck over the road, worked at RoMech, TRACO, OSI Oakland Beef, Foresman Farms, Red Oak Fab, H & H Trailers, Parker Hannifin, and most recently, Pella Corporation. In his younger days, he was a bouncer at several bars. His hobbies include fishing, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, singing, and playing Cribbage, Wahoo, Dominoes, Spoons, and Poker. Preceding him in death were his parents: Dean Mithcell and Ethel Bolio; brothers: Chester "Spike" Mitchell and Kermit Mitchell; sister: Linda MacDonald; and stepdad: Jack Bolio. Kathleen Marie Ebert, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Kathleen was born on a farm east of Tenville, Iowa on February 25, 1929, the daughter of Miles and Bertha (Hedstrom) DeVoss. She attended Country School prior to graduating from Villisca High School in 1946 as Valedictorian. Kathleen attended Simpson College one year, worked for Tyler Brothers (Coca-Cola Bottling Co. ) in Shenandoah for one year, and then began a 36 1/2 year career with Union Carbide retiring February 1, 1985. She worked in the Manufacturing Office, Purchasing Department, was Plant Manager's Secretary, and then on the Exempt Payroll in Employee Relations, helping to hire, administer Benefit Plans, and more. She was united in marriage to Jack Dilley on May 6, 1951, who worked with his folks at Red Oak Printing Co. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1972. On September 16, 1978, Kathleen was united in marriage to Harlan Ebert, Jr. She was active in church work throughout the years, holding several offices, was on the Montgomery County Extension Committee, served as Secretary of the Library Board and Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, as well as Assistant Treasurer of the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer at the Lemon Tree Gift Shop, during her retirement. Kathleen loved to read, do counted cross-stitch, played Bridge, and enjoyed the many friends made both during her working years and after retirement. Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband: Jack Dilley; brother: Darwin DeVoss and his wife Juanita; brother-in-law: Blaine Donaldson; and nephew: Brent Donaldson; sisters-in-law: Funtella Quintana, Dorothy Carson, Nolene McLeod, Mellissa Winters, and Jacqueline Ebert. Survivors include her husband: Harlan Ebert of Red Oak; sisters-in-law: Dorothea Donaldson of Red Oak; Betty Lochbrunner of Red Oak; and Charlotte Palmquist of Stanton, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Kenneth Dale "Kenny" Jipsen, the son of Dwaine and Ada (Bird) Jipsen was born March 23, 1962, at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away following a battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Red Oak Rehab and Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 61 years, 7 months, and 9 days. Kenny was raised in the Wales area. Growing up he enjoyed being involved with 4-H, showing hogs at the county fair, and riding motorcycles. Kenny started school in Wales and after they consolidated with Red Oak, attended, and graduated from Red Oak High School in l980. On December 29, 1983, Kenny was united in marriage to Margene Dixon. Kenny farmed with his dad and brothers for many years. He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball for the Wales team, along with being outdoors, fishing, target shooting and gardening. Kenny was a past member of the Wales Presbyterian Church. Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Dwaine Jipsen; brother, Bryce Jipsen; niece, Nicole Jipsen and nephew, Jared Jipsen. Kenny is survived by his children: Jenna (Shannon) Gravett of Emerson, IA and James (Jessica) Jipsen of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Sylas Allen, Taylor Gravett, Hunter Gravett, Sawyer Gravett and Brooklyn Jipsen; mother, Ada Jipsen of Red Oak, IA; brother, Gary (Darnett) Jipsen of Emerson, IA; sister, Jody (David) Parris of Emerson, IA; and companion, Rlena Crouse of Red Oak, IA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dortha Ann Morris, the daughter of Robert and Norma (Yates) McMillin was born November 27, 1953, in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in Shelley, Idaho, at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 14 days. Dortha was raised in Red Oak. She graduated with the Red Oak High School class of 1972 and attended Southwest Community College. Dortha worked for Eveready Battery Company for 21 years and ROMECH for 5 years. In 2000, she moved to McCook, Nebraska, and worked 10 years with Valmont Industries, before moving back to Red Oak. Dortha enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR and embroidering. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: George and Robert McMillin; her twin sister at birth and brother-in-law, David Volquartsen. Dortha is survived by her two sons: Eddie Morris of Shelley, ID and Max Morris of Danbury, NE; sisters: Velma (Marlin) Smith of Red Oak, IA, Susan Volquartsen of Red Oak, IA and Nancy (Dennis) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; and sister-in-law, Linda McMillin of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James Brian "Jim" Stanley, age 54, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Jim was born October 14, 1969, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Karon (Scotton) Stanley. He was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1988. Jim attended Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny where he learned the art of upholstery. While in college, he worked for Al's Downtown Auto Upholstery in Des Moines. He was united in marriage to Julie Franzen on March 12, 1994, in Stanton, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak. Jim worked for Randy's Upholstery in Council Bluffs and Bredin's, The Studio in Omaha, Nebraska for many years before starting Stanley's Upholstery in Red Oak. Jim's passion was cars and he was quite proud of the 1969 Chevrolet Caprice he bought when he was 16 years old. He showed that car in many shows throughout the years. That love for cars led him to be involved in many organizations including Red Oak Classy Chassis Car Club of which he was the president many times, Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa Car Council, Kustom Kemps of America, Custom Car Revival, Iowa Street Rod and Customs Association, and took his car to Indianapolis many times for the show there. He also loved going to swap meets, but his favorite pastime was playing with his granddaughter, Hadley. Preceding him in death were his in-laws: Swanie and Lois Franzen; and sisters-in-law: Carolyn Bashaw and Angela Stanley.
