Bobby "Bob" Gene McGowan, age 80, of Supply, NC. , formerly of Cherryville, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at his residence. He was born November 27, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Frank Augustus and Nellie Bailey McGowan. Bob was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a former manager of Harris Teeter of Cherryville and was employed with them for 20+ years. He also worked with Dixie Lumber. Bob was a retired Deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff's Department. He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved riding with his wife Brenda on his Honda Shadow. They both enjoyed participating in the annual Brunswick County Toy Run. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela McGowan Faulkenberry, and his son, Randy McGowan. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of nearly 37 years, Brenda Sellers McGowan; daughters, Janine McGowan Dennis of Conway, SC. , and Barbara "Barb" Peeples (Vince) of Myrtle Beach, SC. ; sister, Kathy McGowan Williams; nephew, Chris; niece, Jennifer; brother-in-law, Wayne Johnson (Tracy); niece, Christi Hefner (Johnny) with Coty and Janna; niece, Pam Johnson (Joe) with Lee and Brooklynn; grandchildren, Elizabeth Dennis, Jordan Barkley (Jessica), Jared Barkley (Shelby), Marshall Watson, Shakiyra White (Tommy), Ashley McGowan (Tyler), Randall McGowan, and Josh McGowan (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Sarah, Carson, Landon, Justin, Angela, and Chole. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
