Blake Lawrence Yates, 23, of Cave City passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 in Magness. He was born December 27, 1999 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Norma Nuckles and fathered by David Stotlar. He was a lineman and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, being outdoors, fishing and playing with his children. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammy and Paulette Sutton. Survivors include his mother, Norma Nuckles (Ryan) and his father, David Stotlar (Alisha), two sons, Braxten and Zander Yates; his fiance, Zoee White; three brothers, Zackary Yates, Jonathan Anderson and Gage Sutton; a nephew, Dillion Yates, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 5:00PM in the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Deshawn Pankey officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 4:00PM until service time. Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Morgan and Lloyd Hogue. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Obituary Larry Allen Engles, 81, of Magness, AR, died on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Larry was born on August 12, 1942, in Salado, AR, to the late Allen Ray Engles and Dora Etta Manuel. Larry was of the Christian faith and was one of the charter members of Newark Southern Baptist Church. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army over the course of 30-plus years. He was a true patriot, and his illustrious military career took him across several states and continents. He was most proud to be a part of the United States Army National Guard, Company B/2nd Battalion-153rd Infantry in Batesville, serving as a "Readiness NCO", until finally earning his retirement from the United States military. Larry was a proud soldier, but nothing meant more to him than his family. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and he loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved granddaughters. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he never met a stranger. He was a good, hard-working man, who believed in duty, selfless service, and honor. Larry lived out his faith by the way he loved God, his country, and his family. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by those who were blessed to know him. Larry is preceded in death by both of his parents, His father, Allen Ray Engles (Sgt Allen Ray Engles, was killed in action in World War II in Germany, and was buried in Holland), and his mother, Dora Etta (Manuel) Engles Taylor Franks; his stepfather, Eli Taylor; his grandparents, Charlie and Dona Engles and Willie and Callie Manuel; and his brother-in-law Chuck Norris. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Coralee (Davenport) Norris Engles, of the home; his daughter, Kelli Blackman (Darren) of Newark, AR; his two sisters, Vanita Cartwright (Roy) of Southside, AR and Gay Bowling (Jim) of Conway, AR; his two granddaughters, Sydney Claire Blackman and Shelby Camille Blackman, both of Newark, AR; his nephews, Mark Cartwright, Aaron Cartwright, and Craig Bowling; his niece, Callie Bowling; 3 great nieces; one great nephew; and many extended family members and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville will host the services on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM with the funeral service, officiated by Rev Chris Perry, beginning at 2 PM. Mrs. Betty Jean (McClure) Akins of Magness, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born May 10, 1934 at Paroquet, Arkansas, the daughter of Monroe and Isabelle (Milligan) McClure. Mrs. Akins was a graduate of Newark High School, and retired from White Rogers after 25 years of service. She was an active member of the Newark First Baptist Church, where she loved her church family, and sang in the choir. Mrs. Akins always had a smile and loved everyone. She had a strong Christian faith and loved hugs at church. Mrs. Akins enjoyed cooking and feeding others. She missed her husband very much, and was looking forward to the day they would be reunited. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles Akins, Jr; two granddaughters, Alyssa Holcombe and Jen Treadway; her siblings, Melvin McClure, Edna Smith, VG McClure, Floy Garner, Sarah Magness, Nelson McClure, Roberta Morrison, Johnny McClure, and Lorene Magness; and her parents. She is survived by four daughters, Debra Treadway and husband, Tommy of Magness, Beverly Roberts and husband, Gary of Magness, Linda Holcombe and husband, Greg of Newark, and Sherry Bear of Batesville; eight grandchildren, Chad Treadway and wife, Gayle, Harmony Hiller and husband, Josh, Shandy Ingles and husband, Steven, Scott Treadway and wife, Priscilla, Mandy Pratt and husband, Roger, Charlie Bridgeman and husband, Josh, Cody Murphree and wife, Kodi, and Hunter Bear; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; two special caretakers, Brenda Markum and Becky Altom; and a lifetime of friends. ObituaryLinda Mae Cave, 93, passed away on February 7, 2021 in Centennial, Colorado.Linda was born on November 14, 1927 in Magness, Arkansas to Gordon and Hazel (Bowman) Wise. After graduating high school, she wed the love of her life, Lloyd Cave, on March 2, 1947 in Sinton, Texas. Linda went on to have a very fulfilling career as a bank teller at the State Bank of Kingsville, and spend her retirement enjoying crocheting, playing cards and dominoes, and listening to Country Western music.Linda is survived by her son - Marcus L. (Emily) Cave, Jr of Centennial, Colorado. Grandchildren - Jeremy (Maegan) Cave of Aurora, Colorado, and Janna Morley of Aurora, Colorado. Great-grandchildren - Roman Morley, Bella Morley, Caroline Cave, Claire Cave, and Caleb Cave. She also leaves behind her sister, Lina Stridel of Livingston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
