Blaine Anthony Maez left us unexpectedly to return to his Father in Heaven on September 7, 2023. He died at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden from heart failure. He was born in Provo, Utah on September 14, 1967. Blaine was the oldest child of Ramon Antonio (Tony) Maez and Shirley Lee Broadhead Maez. He was exceptionally bright, and knowledgeable. He could figure out almost anything. Blaine graduated from Pleasant Grove High School where he was one of their top runners in both cross country and track. After serving an LDS Mission in Manila, Philippines, he continued his education receiving his Master of Science Degree in Quality Assurance. He married Marissa Malit in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 9, 1989. This union was blessed with three beautiful daughters. Blaine loved his family. He was a wonderful son and a good example for his siblings. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was the rock in our family. He was a dedicated friend. Blaine always enjoyed reading, especially about the history of our nation. He felt a profound allegiance to his country and served in the United States Air Force. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found joy as he served in many different positions within the church. His faith was strong, and he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ and his fellowmen. He demonstrated this love in his everyday actions. Blaine enjoyed working at Petersen Incorporated and he knew enough about all areas of the work to help make it successful. He was an honest and hard-working man who set high standards for himself at work. Whatever he was involved in he gave it his best. He was a BYU and LA Dodger’s fan. Blaine enjoyed camping, Dutch oven cooking, hiking, target shooting, kayaking, fishing, hunting turkeys, and gardening. But his real passion was cars. If something could get Blaine’s adrenaline pumping it was fast sports cars. Owning a Porsche was a childhood dream that he accomplished. Blaine is survived by his wife, Marissa of Farr West, Utah. Three daughters: Jessica Adams (Shane) of Harrisville, Utah, Stephanie Windsor (Jared) of North Ogden, Utah and Rachel Fogarty (Noah) of North Ogden, Utah. Two granddaughters: Chantelle and Cambrie Adams of Harrisville, Utah. His parents: Ramon Antonio (Tony) Maez and Shirley Lee Broadhead Maez of Sunset, Utah. His siblings: Malorie Schneider (John) of Bavaria, Germany, Melissa Thayne (Cary) of Darby, Montana, Jared Maez (Danielle) of Layton, Utah, Trent Maez (LeAdelle) of Tooele, Utah, Shanielle McMurray (Bryce) of North Ogden, Utah, and Isaac Maez (Jacque) of Greeley, Colorado. Preceded in death by a brother, Brandon Maez. Blaine lived every aspect of his life to the fullest. To quote Janice Kapp Perry: "Well done thou good and faithful servant. You have earned the Savior’s gentle praise, "Well done". Wilford Paul Schrader, 85, passed away on November 27, 2023, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born to Wilford Henry Schrader and Gertrue Salisbury on April 16, 1938. He married Patricia White on September 21, 1959, they later divorced. Wilford grew up in Bountiful and spent his childhood playing in the foothills of the Bountiful mountains. He worked for Wilford Wood in his early teen years and would recount stories of his days working the Woodruff land. He graduated from Davis High School and then joined the Utah Air National Guard in 1956 and later transferred to the Active-Duty Air Force in 1957. Following the Air Force, he later joined the Utah Army National Guard where he worked as both a full-time Communications/Radio Repairman as well as a part-time "weekend warrior" for the Guard. He achieved the rank of MSgt. Wilford was very proud of his military service and spent almost 27 years in the service of his country. He enjoyed the out of doors and loved to go on the yearly camping trips with his family. He also loved to fish and continued to fish with his ex-father in-law until he passed away. He enjoyed working in his yard and kept an immaculate yard. His yard was always beautiful with lilacs, snowballs, roses and a wide variety of flowers. As his neighbors aged, he voluntarily became the neighborhood snowblower. Cleaning off the driveways and sidewalks for all of his neighbors. Wilford was always there to help out anyone who needed it, even if they didn’t get along. He was generous with his time and money for those in need. He was a great father and teacher to all who knew him. He is survived by son Mark A. Schrader, daughter Shelley A. Schrader, son-in-law Trevor J. Law, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Janet (Lurlen) Knight, brother Donald (Lois) Schrader, brother Dwain (Vangie) Schrader. He is preceded in death by daughter Shanna R. Law, mother and father Wilford H. Schrader and Gertrue Salisbury, brother Darrel Schrader and best friend throughout his life Patricia Arnoldus. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 12:00 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 610 N Rowland Way, Centerville, Utah. Carlos Taylor

Age - 86

Carlos Vern Taylor, age 86, passed away in the early morning hours on November 27, 2023. Carlos was surrounded by loving family members in his own home, as he would have wished. Carlos had suffered a brief but fatal session with cancer that ended his devoted life. Carlos Vern Taylor was an exceptional, one-of-a-kind person. He was born in 1937 in Mesa, Arizona to Carl Hicks Taylor and Agnes Lucille Taylor. In 1954 he joined the reserves for the Marines and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1959. Carlos graduated from Weber High School in 1955. During those years in school, he met the love of his life, Valerie Jean Wright. They met as young teenagers, but their early devotion turned into an incredible marriage of 67 years. Val still has many little love letters, folded into one inch squares that Carlos sent to her. They were married in 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They went on to have four children, Tammy, Judy, Ken, and Carl. Carlos was a dedicated, hardworking man true to his family and values. He began his career in construction, working with Mack Madsen and then Art Christiansen and he later bought out Art to run his own excavating business. This later became Carlos Taylor & Sons where he worked with his sons plowing snow and doing parking lot sweeping and landscape maintenance. He was also a man with other goals. He loved horses and riding. Carlos, with Val, and the kids, became involved in Junior Posse and the Little Buckeroos Rodeo Club. Carlos and Val then moved on to become the adult advisors for the Spikers High School Rodeo which lead Carlos to be the advisor to the state High School Rodeo program. He gave his heart to teaching and encouraging the youth, and many would later say "he turned my life around. " Carlos and his daughters became great competitors. In 1977 he became the high point man of the Utah State Western Riding Association. Carlos also coached his daughters in the Appaloosa Show circuit with great success on their favorite Appaloosa named Pawnee. Carlos was also proud of his daughters who, after their many years of riding went on to win many rodeo queen titles. With all that, his working wasn’t over. Before retiring, his passion for riding led him to work as a cowboy on many ranches, where he rode the other true love, his trusted mule named "Rowdy". He became an actor and also a professional model. He also rode with the Coldwater Gang performing western shoot out shows in many locations all over the state of Utah. After retiring, Carlos and Val finally left their home in Willard and settled in Kanab, the final home of an adventurous couple. Carlos is survived by his wife, Valerie and children, Judy (Paul) Madsen, Ken (Janae) Taylor and Carl (Camille)Taylor; as well as his brother, Merv Taylor; and his mule, "Rowdy" who is now 33 years old and retired to the care of Paul and Judy. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, his seven grandchildren are Nicole and Nate Mitchell, Jase and Shawney Taylor and Bo, Ali and Kirby Taylor. Carlos was preceded by his eldest daughter, Tammy and his siblings, Ray, Beverly and Marva. The family will hold a graveside service at 2:45 p. m. and send their appreciation to the friends thinking of them in their loss. Trevor Winesett

OGDEN - Trevor Cole Winesett, 29, beloved son, brother and friend, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born September 6, 1994 in Ogden City, a son of Jay Winesett and Marnie Smith Whiteaker. Trevor graduated from Bonneville High School in 2013 where he made a lot of amazing friends and connections. He worked the last few years at Enve Composites and before that spread joy as a server at Roosters and many other restaurants in Ogden. He would go above and beyond to love and care for everyone he met, all while lighting up the room with his bright smile and contagious laughter. In his free time Trevor enjoyed spending his time hanging out with his friends, playing guitar, writing, painting, and spending time with his family. Trevor’s kind compassionate energy would fill a room lifting everyone’s spirits and touching the hearts of so many effortlessly. He was never afraid to be himself wearing the craziest hats; he would fill everyone’s lives with love, laughter, music, joy, and meows. He was taken from this life too soon, but his light and love will live on in all of those who had the pleasure to spend time with his beautiful soul. Surviving are his family, father, Jay (Rachelle) Winesett; mother, Marnie (Rob) Smith Whiteaker; siblings, Weston (Miranda) Winesett, Patrick (Shawnee) Winesett, Brock and Baylie Whiteaker, Hannah (Lance) Johnson, and Mikayla Nickell; nephews, Jeremy, Thomas and Solstice Winesett; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Our sweet loving mother Carol Ann Bennett was welcomed home, to be with our Heavenly Father on November 23rd, 2023 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by her family. Carol Ann was born on January 3, 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah to James Edwin and Annie Caroline Burbank. Carol Ann graduated from Jordan High School in 1961, she attended college in California and the University of Utah. She then went on to pursue a career in electrical engineering. Carol Ann met Boyd Nolan Bennett and they later married and were sealed on November 5, 1965 in the Salt Lake City temple. Together, they had 5 children: Julie Kim, Michelle Anne, Gaylen Boyd, Brandon Dayne, and Kendall Bryce Bennett. She also had 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom she cherished and loved dearly. Carol Ann was a very passionate writer of poetry, a true artist. She loved the Utah mountains, horseback riding, camping, swimming, dancing and exploring especially with her family, friends and loved ones. Christmas was one of her favorite times of year, where you could always find her sewing and crocheting Christmas presents, baking pies and making nativity scenes out of chocolate. She always wanted it to be a very special time of year for everyone she knew. Carol Ann had the most beautiful blue eyes that would sparkle and brighten up any room. She was also a contestant in the Miss Utah for Miss Universe pageant. She had a tender heart and loved her family immensely she also has a special love for her animals. 2 dogs Silver, Shadow and cat Starlight. She was survived by her sister Sherry Dickey, Brother James (Jim) Burbank. Her children, Julie K (Richard) Levander, Michelle A Bennett (Michael Marble), Gaylen B Bennett, Brandon D Bennett (Angie Childs) and Kendall B (Sara) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Nolan Bennett, mother Annie Caroline Burbank, granddaughter Krislen Dawn Bennett, brother Dennis Jay Burbank and father James Edwin Burbank. Carolyn Mackenzie

Carolyn Sue Mackenzie passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born on April 20, 1941, in Neodesha, KS. She was the daughter of Donald MacArthur Buttomer and Maude Josephine Buttomer. Carolyn graduated in the first graduating class of Highland High School in Salt Lake City, UT. She went on to study at the University of Utah. She married Thomas Wilson Mackenzie on July 14, 1960, in Salt Lake City, UT. Tom passed away April 1, 1971. Carolyn was baptized in the Catholic Church in 1986 at St. James Catholic Church, Ogden, UT. She was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Parrish in Salt Lake City, UT. Carolyn worked as a legal secretary for over 30 years. She enjoyed skiing, golfing, gardening, and was an avid reader. Carolyn loved her dogs beyond compare but truly cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. With Tom’s passing in 1971 at such a young age and so early in their marriage, Carolyn stepped up to the role of a single parent. Make no mistake, she quickly evolved into the strong and determined lady she had to be to make sure her boys were raised with the proper guidance and direction needed for them to succeed. Carolyn was full of spunk, loved to laugh, and above all, loved her family. Traditions are so important to the family. She made sure they were passed down to be carried on from her children to her grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Thomas Gregory Mackenzie and Brian Keith Mackenzie (Christy Lynn Mackenzie); three grandchildren, Lauryn Christine Mackenzie, Hayden Thomas Mackenzie, and Anica Mary Coesens; and her only sister, Donna Denise Riddell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilson Mackenzie; mother, Maude Josephine Buttomer, and father, Donald MacArthur Buttomer. Lester James

Lester Lionel James, born May 25, 1972, to Lynette Roth and Darrell Lester James at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah passed away November 28, 2023, in his home in Clinton Utah following a four-year battle with cancer. Lester was married to his wife, Tamara James in the Logan Temple on January 10, 1996. They were blessed with four wonderful sons. Surviving Lester is his mother Lynette James-Kearns, Utah; his wife, Tammy James, Clinton, Utah; their sons, Hunter (Makayla) James, Lewiston, Utah; Garrett (Hannah) James, Roy, Utah; Carson (Cortney) James, Clinton, Utah; and Elder Dallen James currently serving in the Syracuse, New York Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lester is also survived by the sweetest little joys of his heart, his grandchildren: Daniel and Maelynn and was anticipating the arrival of his newest grandbaby this month. He is survived by five brothers, a sister and many in-law siblings and his wife’s parents. Lester was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings through the years in Primary, Young Men’s, Scouts, and Elders Quorum. His favorite calling, by far, was working with 11-year-old scouts. He loved teaching them about camping and introducing them to the scouting program. Lester served in the U. S. Army following his graduation from Kearns High School. He was stationed in Fort Carson Colorado. He later attended and graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Les worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Church Office Building in the IT department for most of his career. He made many friends and enjoyed his time in numerous positions in that department. Les loved nature. He respected the land and enjoyed his time spent camping, fishing, and hunting. He passed his love of the mountains to his boys. They looked forward to family camping and hunting trips every year. While he was ill, he enjoyed day trips to fish with his boys and brothers and drives through the mountains with his wife. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Jason Stinett and his staff at Utah Cancer Specialists and LDS Hospital Loveland Clinic for their heroic efforts to help Les during his illness. Rocky Mountain Hospice Care showed great compassion and care during the last week of his life. Our family was blessed by so many healthcare professionals. It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Terri Conan Price. She passed unexpectantly on November 23, 2023 of a brain aneurysm. Terri was born on March 8, 1947, in Brigham City, Utah to Richard Max and Eva Lu Olsen Conan. Her family later moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the oldest of three children and had two brothers, Roger Conan and Mitch Conan. Terri attended Idaho Falls High School and later moved to Ogden, Utah. She attended secretarial school and obtained a certificate in office administration. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 33 years as an administrative assistant where she later retired. She was a dedicated and a detailed oriented employee who took pride in her work and always went over and beyond what was required. Terri enjoyed reading, exercising, listening to music, ice skating, and going on long drives. She always took great care of herself. She was elegant and ladylike. She loved the fall and holiday seasons, especially Christmas. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Terri was a single mother who raised four children on her own, Michelle (Dave) Clark of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robyn Price of Roy, Utah, Tim (Lei Anne) Price of Utah, and Josh Price (Deceased). She has 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her parents and youngest child, Josh Price. Trent Keller

Trent L. Keller passed away at his home on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from natural causes. Trent was born to Loren and Donna Keller on September 11, 1943, in Preston, Idaho. He was the second to youngest of five children in the Keller clan. Trent spent his childhood years growing up in the Minkcreek, Idaho area. Depending on your perspective, he and two of his brothers, Ed and Ray, would have many adventures (or misadventures) in the vast wilderness of Minkcreek. After Trent graduated from Preston High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force. While in the Air Force, he met the first love of his life, Sheran Keller. During this time, Trent and Sheran became proud parents of two boys, Keith and Kevin. Trent retired from the US Air Force as a Master Sergeant (MSgt) in 1982 at Hill AFB and continued working as a civilian there until he retired in 1995. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in February 1998. His wife Sheran passed away. Trent met the second love of his life, Viola, in 2000. Trent married Viola in 2001 after being impressed by how she cooked his favorite dish, Ham Hock and Beans. In 2008, Trent became a grandpa to Kobe and again to Kyle four years later. Trent enjoyed spending time with his grandkids; his hugs always made them feel better. Kobe and Kyle always looked forward to having weekend lunch with their grandpa to share their stories of adventures and perils of the week before. Throughout his life, Trent was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping before his health declined. Every other weekend, he would take his family camping and teach his sons how to fish. By teaching them to fish, he was able to teach his sons patience, perseverance, and humility (as well as some colorful adjectives) while having a can-do, never-quit attitude. Especially when the fishing line would get snagged on a wayward branch at the fishing hole. Trent is survived by his second wife, Viola Keller; his two sons, Keith (Gemma Augusto) Keller and Kevin (Sunadta) Keller; and his two grandsons, Kobe and Kyle; stepchildren, Shirley Allen, Donald (Lisa) Low, Clinton (Donna) Costello, Sonya (Mickey) Daich and Dixie Weinman. He was preceded in death by his father, Loren; his mother, Donna; his sister, Ada; his brothers, Steve, Ed, and Ray; and his first wife, Sheran. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 4th at 11am at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah, followed by a celebration of life at a later date.Show more

Joanne Burrell

JoAnne (Bates) Burrell, our wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away in her home surrounded by family at the age of 77. JoAnne was born to Karl Theodore Bates and Rita Bunker of Chino Valley, Arizona on 9 June 1946, in Prescott, Arizona. JoAnne was a gifted seamstress who generously used her talents to bless others. For her wedding she made her own wedding dress as well as the dresses for all of the bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom. She also made countless other wedding, formal, and baptismal dresses. She stitched and embroidered beautiful gifts – from cherished baptismal artworks to holiday-themed pillowcases she gave her grandchildren every Christmas for 12 years. She also made countless quilts, quilted wall hangings, table runners, and tablecloths. JoAnne and Phil were married and sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on 12 April 1968. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had great faith in Jesus Christ and loved sharing the gospel in all aspects of her life. She served in many callings and capacities, where she was known as a genuine and Christ-like person to all within her reach. JoAnne is survived by her husband, Phil Burrell; children and their spouses: Julie (Scott) Brown, George (Kristy) Burrell, Jonathan (Corrina) Burrell, David (Jill) Burrell, Jennifer (John) Smith, Christopher (Keri) Burrell, Martha (James) Aston; 34 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 5 brothers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl Theodore and Rita (Bunker) Bates and her sister, Evelyn (Bates) Dilg. Gary Ronald Dabel, Sweetheart to Karma and Hero to his daughters Connie, Sandy, Heidi, Kathy and Heather, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. There was one empty plate at the Thanksgiving table this year and will be forever going forward. Although our hearts are broken, we are thankful beyond words for the love and kindness with which we have been blessed. We are especially grateful for the example of unfaltering love and faith of this amazing man. Gary was born on August 9, 1938, to Ronald and Pearl Irene Herzog Dabel. He was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming where his love for hunting, fishing, camping and the great outdoors began and became an integral part of his life. He shared that love with anyone who would pick up a fishing pole or a backpack and join him. He wanted all to feel the beauty and joy he found in those adventures. Many lives were blessed because Gary always had time to cast one more line or hunt one more hour for the perfect buck. While he was an avid outdoorsman, he was also the perfect "Girl Dad. " He was soft and gentle. He was expressive with his feelings. He could listen and counsel. His daughters were his pride and joy and never doubted how much they were loved. He never missed a chance to tell them they were beautiful. He recognized their inner beauty, qualities and strengths. He encouraged them to reach their highest potential. His example of unconditional love and the ability to endure, accept and forgive is a legacy that will live on. Gary loved the Star Valley Braves and was a star athlete. He excelled in basketball and football. He was awarded a football scholarship to Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. He also attended Weber State University where he received an associate degree. Gary loved the Lord and had a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss-Austrian Mission. He taught and baptized many people and made life-long friends. If Gary knew you, you became family to him. He was thrilled to serve a senior mission with his eternal sweetheart and share the Gospel full-time. Gary and Karma served faithfully side by side in the Berlin Germany Mission. He served diligently in many callings and his testimony lives on in the lives of those he touched. Heaven is blessed to have Elder Dabel on the other side sharing his goodness. Shortly after returning home from his mission, he met a beautiful girl, Karma Jensen. Life was never the same for Gary. Karma took one look at him and knew he was "The One. " They were sealed in the Logan Temple on November 17, 1961. No one loved or was loved more deeply than these soulmates. There wasn’t a day that went by where kisses weren’t exchanged. They always held hands and expressed love openly and abundantly. To the very end, he treated her like a queen, opening car doors for her, caring for her as best he could and making her feel special. Hand in hand, they navigated the ups and downs of life and together, they created a beautiful life. Hallmark Movies take a back seat to their story of love and devotion. Their story is not over, there is no ending or closing curtain to a love that goes on for eternity. The best is yet to come. Gary loved his country, serving in the Army, Navy and Air Force Reserves, retiring after 23 years. He also worked in civil service at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1993. He was a hard worker and always worked extra jobs to ensure his family was well taken care of. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Heidi, siblings, Peggy Dabel, Kim Dabel, and many other loved ones. There is a beautiful reunion in Heaven. He is survived by his sweetheart wife of 62 years, Karma, his daughters Connie (Kelly) Lemmon, Sandy (Monte) Carver, Kathy (Chad) Fortuna, Heather (Jonathan) Stokes, grandchildren Brandi (Kyle), Bobbi Jo, Jake (Michelle), Colten (Jenna), Brianna (Jan), Taylor (Jason), Kylee, Spencer, Shaylee, Aubree and Nathan, 16 great-grandchildren Kaden, Tyse, Afton, Ayvree, Heidi, Gannon, Oliver, Lillian, Janson, Gunner, Emerson, Beau, Italia, Albany, Rhett, London and Beckham (due in December), siblings Roxie Bird, Terry (Marianne) Dabel, Joy (Bob) Petersen, Lori (Robin) Stratton and numerous others related and non-related that he considered family. Gary’s life will be celebrated and honored as follows, Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 am, at the Wheatfield Chapel, 3161 West 150 North, Layton. Friends may visit with family Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West.
