December 8, 2023

Jason Matthew Spruell, 55 of Van Buren, AR went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 4, 2023 after a short battle with ALS. He was the loving husband, life partner and adventurer of Kenna Tillery Spruell. Matt was born on June 24th, 1968, in Texarkana, TX to the late Jim Spruell and loving mother Modine Spruell of Hot Springs Village. He is survived by brothers Mitch(Cardella) Spruell and Marty (Karen) Spruell. Nieces, Chae (Connor) Brewer, Chelsea (Skylar) Yarbrough, Caiti (Brock) Westerman, Halaina Spruell and nephew Hudson Spruell. Great niece Hattie Claire Westerman, great nephew Walker Westerman and step-daughter Heather Terry, as well as a host of family and life long friends. Matt was loved by all and never met a stranger, he made friends every where he went. To know him was to love him, and you always knew that time spent with him would be filled with lots of fun and probably some shenanigans. Some of his favorite lines were "guacamole", because everyone should know that it really means "let's party" in Spanish, and as always, "slap that pig," when the Hogs were actually playing well. He was an avid Razorback fan, and enjoyed a good game of golf. He graduated from Johnson and Wales Culinary school in Virginia Beach, and shared his love of all things food with everyone he met. He was always the party planner and took charge in the kitchen or at the flat-top. Some of his favorite things to do were spending time with friends going to Razorback games, camping, kayaking and fishing. Traveling and going on adventures with his best friend Kenna was the highlight of his life. He never stopped planning the next trip or get together. His absence in our lives will leave a huge void, but we will cherish the many memories we have of him. Celebration of life will be Saturday December 9, 2023, at Caruth Village Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 10 am, followed by services at 11 am. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery immediately following services. Pallbearers are Dr. Andrew Grose, Mark Dickson, Jon Applegate, Charles Moline, Rick Spoon and Vincent Waide. Honorable pallbearers are UAMS Multidisciplinary Clinic, ALS Association, Dr Janice Keating, Dr Pamela Gaborni and Mercy Hospice team. The family will be at 34 Sosegedo Way, HSV. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Foundation would be appreciated. Feel free to wear your favorite Razorback attire to honor Matt and his love for the Hogs.Show more

Dale Stockam

Dale Stockam

Age - 87

November 29, 2023

Dale Riley Stockam was born in Rittenhouse, Arizona to Charles Reno Stockam and Ada Evelyn Hardee Stockam on January 19, 1936 two minutes after his twin brother, Gale. He passed away on November 15, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the VA hospital at the age of 87. Dale was the tenth child out of eleven children. He spent his childhood years in Arizona, near Queen Creek. He learned to be a hard worker while picking cotton and working on the family dairy farm. Both Gale and Dale were inseparable. They were identical twins and best friends. They enjoyed riding their horses, exploring the desert, fishing, deer hunting and spending time with their large family. Dale and Gale both joined the US Navy in 1955. Dale worked hard and became a Chief Petty Officer, and he retired after 20 years of working as a jet mechanic. He was known for his mechanical abilities and was able to fix anything. If he couldn't fix it, you might as well throw the broken object away. And he didn't throw a lot away. His sisters Joy, Adell, and Zita introduced him to Beverly Ann Bullock. They were married on January 10, 1958. They had three devoted daughters, Ada Melody (Kenneth Rachal) of Mena, Arkansas, Bonita Jo (Robert Muir) of Dallas, Texas, and Deanna (Martin Caringella) of Pleasant Grove, Utah. Dale and Beverly have 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents Reno and Ada, this wife Beverly, all of his siblings: Noble, Grand, Calvin, Adell, Joe and Joy, Buckie, Jerry, his twin Gale, and Zita and three grandsons: Matthew Muir, Jeffrey Muir, and Scott Rachal. After retiring from the US Navy, Dale moved to a ranch near Uniontown, Arkansas where he built his own house with the help of his wife and daughters. He enjoyed raising cattle, raising goats, and training horses. He worked at Bekaert Steel and Wire as a mechanic. He retired a second time in 2001. Dale enjoyed searching his family roots. Dale and Gale took many field trips with their wives to several states to search for records first hand. One of his goals was to place gravestones on all of the unmarked graves of his ancestors. Even though Dale was not a member, he worked in the Family History Center for the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints. He helped other people find their roots. Dale also served as a volunteer in the Fleet Reserve Assiciation and in the Republican Party of Crawford County. Dale appreciated his many Navy friends and often went to Navy reunions with his wife, and then after her death, he attended the reunions with his daughters. These annual reunions were the highlight of his year. Dale had good neighbors and kind friends, including his friends at the Cedarville Senior Center. As daughters, we appreciate their acceptance and support over the last three years. Graveside service will be 11:00 a. m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Morrison Cemetery, near Rudy, Arkansas under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Dale will be buried next to his wife and his brother. There will be a viewing 10:30 a. m. at the cemetery before the service.Show more
