Willie Frank Parrish, 88, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Fellowship Home. Billy was born in Mayday, GA on February 20, 1935 to the late A. V. (Buck) and Ruth Herring Parrish. He was a member of Central Avenue Church of Christ, after getting baptized at age 81. He graduated in 1953 from Lake Park High School, where he played basketball and baseball. After graduation, he played semi-pro baseball for the Twin Rivers League. Billy was employed by Southern Railroad and he loved the railroad!! But not as much as he loved his bride, Delores McLeod. He left the railroad to be at home with her every evening, and began driving for Ryder Truck Lines. They were married for 65 years before her death in 2020. Billy was an avid outdoorsman, fishing the Alapaha River and hunting in the flatwoods. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Billie Ann and Kirby Hall, and one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kim Parrish. He had four grandchildren, Shannon Hall Odum and her husband, Rex. Garrett Hall and his wife, Amanda. Colby Jess Hall and his wife, Danielle. Camden Parrish and his fiancee, Haleigh Watson. Billy had six great-grandchildren, Heidi & Chloe Thomas, Ava & Grayson Hall, Gracelyn and Hudson Hall, and two more great-grands "on the way". He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Marian Parrish and one brother-in-law, Andy Anderson. Preceding him in death was his two brothers, Sheldon Parrish and Raymond Parrish and his two sisters, Vada Anderson and Ruth Moore. Billy's family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Fellowship Home. He loved them all, and we are very grateful for the kindness, care, and love each one gave Mr. Bill. Dr. Lance J. Haluka, age 52, died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of Walter and Carol Freund Haluka. Dr. Haluka did his undergraduate studies at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, after which he completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at Indiana University School of Optometry. Lance served the local community as an optometrist at Southern Eye Center for 20 years. He was also passionately active in missions, travelling to numerous countries throughout the world and serving those who would not otherwise receive eye care. Lance loved the great outdoors--especially when it involved fishing. And he was an avid sports fan, with hockey at the top of the list. Dr. Haluka was an actively involved member of New Covenant Church. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Haluka of Hahira; his father, Walter Haluka; his sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Steve Hambly of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cliff III and Jennifer Brooks of Seymour, Indiana, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Abigail and Sean Rathbun of Fort Mill, South Carolina, brother-in-law, Ken Brooks of Rosamond, California, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford Jr. and Vickie Brooks of Bloomington, Indiana, as well as 9 much-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Freund Haluka. The memorial service is on Monday, December 4, 2023, 10:00 am at New Covenant Church, with Pastor Michael Wells officiating. Mary Williams Brown, 87 of Lake City, passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Brown was born in Gainesville, Florida, the fourth child of 5, to the late Jessie Williams and Beatrice Haney Williams. She had made Lake City her home for the past 53 years having moved here from Jacksonville. Mrs. Brown was of the Baptist faith, she never met a stranger and loved traveling and shopping with her girls. She was a homemaker and her strong will helped her to raise her 10 children and also survive many health issues, including breast cancer. Mrs. Brown loved spending time with her famiy and adored her pets, "Roxie" and "Snookems". She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Epstine "Buddy" Brown; four children, Guy, Randy, William and Baby girl Brown; and one grandson, Matt Brown. Survivors include sons, David Brown (Renee), Lake City and Steve Brown (Daun), Middleburg; daughters, Mary Jane Altman (Paul), Middleburg, Linda Davis (James), Lake Butler, Brenda Rodgers (Carl), Statenville and Sherry Burlingame (Wade), Lake City and Mary Margaret Brown, Lake City; one sister, Bernice Seckel (Ernie), Albertville, AL; 30 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great grandchildren. "Patricia "Trish" Nieto 64, of Valdosta, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at her residence. She was strong, independent, sassy and a fun ball of fire. Trish was born on October 3, 1959, in St. Petersburg, Fl to the late Edward Norris and Laverne Spell Norris. Trish worked in property management handling residential leasing for over 35 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Trish was the champion of corn hole and was the family chef. If you could eat, she would cook. Along with her father she was preceded in death by sister, Deloris "Sissy" Perkins. "Cody Bond Broome, born on March 14, 1980, in Valdosta, Georgia, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023. He was the beloved son of Jack and Brenda Broome. Cody is survived by his loving parents, Jack and Brenda Broome. He is also survived by his three older brothers and their wives: Barry Broome and Laurie Broome, Ryan Broome and Stephanie Broome, and Darren Broome. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces, Jarrett Broome, Julia Broome, and Suzanna Broome, as well as his nephews, Colton Broome, and Trent Broome. Cody was a graduate of Valdosta High School, where he achieved Honor Graduate, Senior Superlative, and the Principal's Award. He was a stand-out wrestler and football player for the Valdosta Wildcats as he was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player his senior year. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. He began working for the family-owned Broome Insurance Agency after graduating from Georgia Tech. Cody enjoyed interacting with his clients and the relationships he built over the years. Cody continued to be a faithful Valdosta Wildcat as he served on the Valdosta Touchdown Club for many years. One might say he was a fitness fanatic as his interests ranged from marathons, tennis, and CrossFit to weightlifting; Cody was talented musically, playing both the drums and guitar. Listening to music and watching a good movie with a friend was a favorite pastime in his life. He would often attend music festivals around the country. Cody was known for having a heart of gold. He was generous to a fault. Cody was known by many for his random acts of kindness and his eagerness to be available to people in need. He served as a treasurer for a local charity that helped feed the homeless. The friendships he built were genuine, deep, and abiding in love. Cody touched the lives of so many. If you knew Cody, he truly cared about you. Cody will be missed. Funeral services to honor Cody's life will be held at Park Avenue Methodist Church on Friday, December 1st, at 11:00 a. m.
