Billy Flanagin Obituary

Billy FlanaginSaltillo- Billy R. Flanagin, 87, went to his heavenly home on Saturday September 9, 2023. He passed away surrounded by close family members at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born August 25, 1936 to S. T. and Virgie Phillips Flanagin. He began his employment at the age of 17 with Tupelo Coca-Cola bottling company until his retirement 45 years later. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also very talented and was known for his lawn mower and small engine repairs. After retirement you could find him each morning at Hardees with his coffee drinking buddies eating his usual open-faced gravy biscuit. He married Emily Dale Raines on November 7, 1953, and they built a life together for 66 years. He loved his family and was a devoted father and papaw. Services will be Monday September 11, 2023 at 5 pm at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Cory Flanagin and Bro. Danny Boudreaux officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo City cemetery. Survivors include son Mike Flanagin (Sherry) of Saltillo, grandchildren Kim Raines (Scottie) of Saltillo, Cory Flanagin (Cassie) of Raton NM, Courtney Kennedy (Jeremy) of Saltillo, Deundre Poole of Saltillo, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great - great grandchildren, brother Thomas Flanagin (Jan) of Saltillo, son-in-law Jerry Mansell of Saltillo. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Emily Raines Flanagin, daughter Billie Marie Mansell, parents S. T. and Virgie Flanagin and an infant sister Virginia. Visitation will be Monday September 11, 2023 from 3 pm until service time at Waters Funeral Home.
