Beverly Miller Obituary

Age - 94
May 9, 2023
Long Beach, CA
Heaven just got another angel. . . and there was a huge celebration, when she entered the gates!!Beverly June Miller went home, to be with the Lord, on May 3, 2023. She was our matriarch, our mentor, our confidante, our biggest supporter, and our shoulder to cry on. Her generosity, kindness, selflessness, and love were evident every day of her life. Born on March 17, 1929, the only child to Beulah and Ralph Gallagher. She married her childhood sweetheart, Glen Brockway, and had two children - Barry and Becky. The Lord quickly took Glen home, and she later married her second husband, David Lee Miller, with whom she had four daughters - Bonnie, Laurie, Marilee and Karen. She was a stay-at-home mom to six children, and lovingly tended to their every need. Annual family camping trips were the highlight of every year, beginning in the early days with trips to Bass Lake for many years, and then moving on to her very special Lake Tahoe. Those vacations were the best of times for Bev, and her family. As time progressed, and her children started their own families, the family expanded - eventually ending up with 6 children, 14 grandchildren; Becky (husband Bob, son Michael, daughter Jennifer), Barry (daughter Kelsi, son Lee), Bonnie (husband Kevin, daughter Kelly, son David), Laurie (husband Mike, sons Jason and Josh), Marilee (son Ryan, daughters Holly, Brittney and Katie), Karen (husband Bryan, daughter Krista, son Kevin); and 26 great-grandchildren. Beverly was one of the original docents at Rancho Los Alamitos when it opened up to the public and was an integral part of the docent program for many decades. She loved giving tours of the historic ranch and gardens and assisted in planning many of their annual events. History, genealogy, antique collecting, were just a few of her favorite past times. Beverly enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved traveling. Her trip to Ireland with Husband David was one of her favorites - visiting the beautiful homeland of her ancestors. Sports was also one of her many passions. She would listen to the Dodgers games on the radio, way back in the day, and she loved football (especially Michigan and UCLA), and Sundays were spent watching NFL games. She loved accompanying her family and participating in their Off-Road Racing adventures in Baja, California, and Nevada. She shared her family's love for horses, attending many a horse race, and trips to the farm in Temecula to visit the mares and new foals. But most important to Beverly was time with her family. Easter trips to Palm Springs, get togethers at the park playing volleyball, spending holidays at her house, playing ping pong. And how she loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in athletics, dance and gymnastics. She loved attending their school events. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Beulah and Ralph Gallagher, her first husband Glen Brockway and his parents Theresa and Eugene Brockway, her second husband David Miller and his mother Ursula Miler, son Barry Miller and granddaughter Jennifer Naraki. A Memorial Reception will be held on May 19th at 12 pm at the reception hall at St. Cyprian Catholic Church in Long Beach.
