LYON-SHORT, Theresa Vernice – of Clio, age 67, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at McLaren Flint. Honoring Theresa’s wishes, there will be no service at the funeral home. Burial will take place 11AM Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Montrose Township Cemetery.Theresa was born January 18, 1957, in Flint, MI to the late Kenneth Lyon and Beverly Mann. She attended Clio Area Schools. Theresa worked several jobs over the years, but she was most proud of being a stay-at-home mother raising her boys. Theresa shared many wonderful years with her late husband, Randall Short. Randall preceded her in death in 2004. Theresa loved spending time with family, cooking and playing poker every now and then, and she adored her beloved dogs. She was a strong spirited woman who, when necessary, was not afraid to tell you what she thought. Above all, she was an amazing mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be truly missed.Theresa is forever remembered by her children: Keith James Lyon and Brandon James Short; Granddaughter, Mia; Sister, Katherine Lyon (Matthew Short); Nephew, Robert Lyon; Niece, Cierra Short; Stepchildren: Kelly McKenzie and Lisa Short; Several aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends; Beloved companions: Beef Cake and Ten-Kay; Goldfish, Rocky. LEIGHTON-GIBBONS, Sharon F. (Mama Gibbons): Sharon was 64 year young when she passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2024 surrounded by family. Sharon grew up in Flint, MICHIGAN and graduated from Carman High School in 1977. This was the beginning of her journey as she enlisted as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. After 20 years of serving and being stationed in Florida, Maryland, Hawaii, Ohio, and Illinois, she retired and returned to her hometown. Her time in the Navy was not so lonely as she welcomed 3 beautiful daughters who were her whole world. After retirement she continued in the medical field and was one of the most amazing nurses to all of her patients. Sharon enjoyed taking her family camping in Ossineke, Michigan, going rock hunting, and spending time with her animals. There was never a dull moment when Sharon was around! Sharon was also a second mother to all of her daughter's friends and was always called Mama Gibbons or Mama G. She was an integral part of the Carman-Ainsworth Chorale and Theater programs as a parent helper while her daughters were in school. After they graduated high school, she enjoyed watching them grow into fantastic adults and was their best friend. Sharon was no stranger to battling cancer and was an absolute soldier through all of it. Even in death, the cancer never won and she passed away when she was ready. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Lucy Leighton. She is survived by her daughters Luce (Lars) Abela, Kelli Gibbons, Tommi Gibbons, and Tara (Melissa) Kent. She is also survived by her brothers Charles (Jeannine) Leighton and James (Deborah) Leighton, sister Susan Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. Private Interment will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Age 88, of Flint, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Olive Branch Assisted Living. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Frederico to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Patsy’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Patsy was born in Duck Springs, Alabama, on April 10, 1935, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Lilly (Cash) Camp. Patsy met and married the love of her life, Marrell Putman, on February 2, 1957. Their union was blessed with eight beautiful children. Patsy worked as a playground supervisor for the Board of Education for Bentley Schools until her retirement in 1990. She attended and was a member of the New Testament General Baptist Church for many years. Patsy had a wonderful sense of humor and as a part of that, she would often hide behind the front door and scare her children when they came home. She loved to scare people. Patsy was very outgoing and a people person and found the good in everyone. She was loving and kind and was a social butterfly. Her favorite pastime was sitting on her front porch drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Her favorite phrase was “You just wait till your dad gets home”. Patsy was always up for a good garage sale, and she loved to gamble and cook, which she was great at. Patsy was a dedicated mother and loved her family fiercely. She will be greatly missed. Patsy’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Olive Branch Assisted Living for their care and compassion. Left to cherish Patsy's memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Marrell Putman; children: Donny and wife, Linda McDaniel, Sheila Whitten, Lucinda and husband, Ed Smith, Tammie Coates, Terri and husband, Tony Alexander, Connie and husband, Bob Gilling, Tracey and wife, Nancy Putman, Chastity and husband, Kevin Gilbert; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-great-grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

Educated locally, Tim attended Beecher High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. He began his career at General Motors as a lineman until his retirement. Tim enjoyed fishing in Oscoda on the Au Sable River and was an avid U of M football fan and never missed a game. Spending time with his family especially his grandchildren was one of his favorite pastimes. When he was in school, Tim enjoyed golfing and was very good at it. He also enjoyed reading Steven King novels and listening to Rock-n-Roll. Left to cherish Tim’s memory are his daughter, Jennifer Wylie; grandchildren: Arianna, Adalyn; sister, Terry and husband, James Haines; nieces and nephews: Tiffany, Michael, Lucas and wife, Eva, Sarah; many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Wylie; gram, Aldora Apperley.

Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in memory of Robert’s late wife, Katherine.Robert was born March 27, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Robert and Virginia (Hawk) Caine, Sr. He graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1973. Bob married Katherine M. Doughty on August 26, 1994. They enjoyed many wonderful years together before she preceded him in death on February 9, 2023. He Worked at General Motors – Fisher Body and Delphi for many years before retiring. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, especially when it came to U of M Football. He enjoyed his time on the golf course and getaways to Florida in the winter with Katherine. Above all, Bob loved spending time with his daughters, family, friends, and his dog, Mags. Oscar retired from Delphi Automotive. Outside of his career, he loved to golf, tie flys to use in fly fishing.
