Betty Hoffman Obituary

"Betty J. Hoffman, age 78, of DeMotte, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart. Betty was a lifelong resident of DeMotte. She was born on April 29, 1945, the daughter of Ben and Edith (Evers) Hoffman. Betty graduated from DeMotte High School, Class of 1964. She worked as a program assistant in Compliance for the Jasper County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service of Rensselaer. She later came to work as the secretary with Christian Haven of Wheatfield for many years. Betty was a member of the First Reformed Church of DeMotte, now known as First Church in Wheatfield. She was an avid horseback rider in her younger days, even once owning her own horse. Betty is survived by her sister, Arlene "Jane" Fisher of DeMotte and was a special aunt and good friend to her many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several friends who were like family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Howard (Kathleen), Marvin, and Dale Hoffman, and sister, Ethel Mae (Simon) Nannenga. Friends and family may visit at First Church of Wheatfield on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will promptly begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Hill officiating. Interment will be held at Holland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Words of Hope in Grand Rapids, Michigan or the Wounded Warriors project. "
