Betty Davis Obituary

Our beloved mother and grandmother Betty Davis passed peacefully at the age of 96 in Richfield, OH on April 21, 2023. She leaves behind daughters Susan Porter (Wayne) of Brecksville and Deborah Davis of Metairie, LA; granddaughters Rachel Joyeux (Frederic) (nee Gibson) of St. Paul, MN, Lesley Gibson (Harald Kadaroesman) of New York City, NY, and Kathryn Cobb (Victor) (nee Poche) of New Orleans, LA; and great-grandsons Emrys Joyeux and Alistair Kadaroesman. She was preceded in death by her high-school sweetheart and husband of 73 years, Raymond C. Davis. Betty was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, moving to Avon Lake, OH in 1961. She was a devoted mother and wife who adored her granddaughters and great-grandsons to the end. She trained as a ballet dancer and vocal soloist, and she enjoyed singing in choirs and doing solo work for over 75 years. Betty and her husband both enjoyed playing golf and traveling extensively overseas, and they lived in Florida for 10 years before returning to the Cleveland area. She was an active member of Avon Lake United Church of Christ for several years. Betty loved playing bridge with friends and was a regular member of the ladies' golf league at Sweetbriar in the past. She was a Past Matron of Eastern Star in Pittsburgh. In recent years, Betty lived at Brighton Gardens in Westlake and the Inn at Apple Ridge in Richfield. Her family will deeply miss her devotion and sense of humor, and cheerful acceptance of life's many changes. Visiting hours will be held at Busch Funeral Home in Avon Lake at 10:00 on Wednesday, April 26, followed by a service at 11:00.
