Brenda Kay Rogers Meeks, 80, of Clover, SC, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Atrium Health in Pineville. A native of Gaston County, NC, she was born on January 10, 1943, to the late George and Irene Rogers. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the kindest soul you would ever meet. She was a very giving and loving person. She worked in textiles for over 50 years. She retired from Parkdale Mills in 2006. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bartley R. Meeks Jr. ; daughter, Renia P. Dye. Brenda is survived by her children, Robin P. Poole, Victoria Hogan (Jeff), Tommy Meeks (Michelle), Bartley Meeks III (Gail); siblings, George Rogers (Charlotte), Joyce Dawkins, Bobby Rogers (Charlotte), Johnny Rogers (Linda), Jimmy Rogers (Nancy), Mary Clark (Bill); grandchildren, James Henderson, Danielle Powell (Mark), Stephanie Poole, Brandon Spaulding, Darron Spaulding (Gabi), Jennifer Nichols (Richard), Jenna Ames (Aarron), Caitlin Morrison (A. J. ), Charlie Meeks, Heather McCutcheon (Jon-Matthew); ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Bobby Meeks, will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, 12:00 pm, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 3717 Hickory Grove Road, Gastonia, NC 28056. Mr. Samuel Roy Jackson, 77, of Clover, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at home peacefully in his sleep. Mr. Jackson was born September 1, 1946, in York County, South Carolina, to the late Thomas Bigger Jackson, Sr. and Nellie Bailey Jackson. He is also preceded in death by his three brothers, David "Bill" Jackson, James Foster Jackson, and Andy Jackson (infant) and three sisters Margaret Robinson, Mary Ann Chambers, and Nellie Parker. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca "Becky" Robinson Jackson; his daughters, Stephanie J. Clinton (Keith), Clover, SC, and Dana J. Knox (Daniel), Edgemoor, SC; his four grandchildren, Stephen Clinton (Savannah), Samantha Pierson (Rex), Jakob Clinton, and Samuel Knox; and his three great- grandchildren, Mason Clinton, Ellie Clinton, and Piper Clinton and with one on the way, Kinslee Parker Pierson. He is also survived by his six sisters, Lula Covington, Helen Covington, Nina Lynn, Sandra Parker, Sarah Black, and Patsy Conrad, and his four brothers, Buster Jackson, Joe Jackson, Ed Jackson, and Miles Jackson, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends. "Sam" as he was known and respected by many, retired from Duke Power after over 40 years of service. After his retirement, Sam spent most of his days, raising beef cattle and growing hay on the family farm that was originally started by his father-in-law, Mr. Pressley Robinson. He also enjoyed riding horses and four-wheelers with family in the pastures and woods on this land. Sam loved planting and tending a large garden where he and many family members would put up vegetables that were then shared for a delicious wintertime meal. Sam loved the Lord and served him by helping out in many ways at his home church Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and his present church for over 20 years, First United Methodist Church of Clover. He was always up for any task that would help out the church or anyone associated with the church. One of his favorite roles was helping with Salkehatchie Summer service, where he loved working with young people while helping those that were in dire need. He especially shared his love for Christ through his actions and service with Salkehatchie. Sam's giving heart was not limited to the walls of the church. He was always willing to go and help anyone in need. He had a wonderful way with people and lived in a way that witnessed to so many. Sam dearly loved his very large family and thought it was very important to gather together regularly. He was always willing to help anyone in his immediate or extended family including friends of family members from the smallest favor to task that could never be too large for Sam Jackson. Though he loved all of his family dearly, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so very special to him. He would often stop whatever project he was working on to spend time with them. He was so proud of them and his face would light up when anyone asked about them. Sam will be remembered for his strong faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his love for the outdoors, his enduring love for family, and especially for his warm, friendly personality.Show more

On November 15, 2023, this world lost a beautiful light as Patricia Ann Hoyle Gibson, 75, entered her heavenly home. Born on June 28, 1948, to Marshall Ferron Hoyle and Mary Allene Meek Hoyle in Lincoln County, NC. Trish grew up in York, SC, and later graduated from York schools. Her years of employment with both Klear Knit and York County yielded countless colleagues who became friends. Trish lived a life of faith and fun, and she made sure her days were filled with love and laughter. She could always be counted on to discover a way to find joy and adventure in the most ordinary things. Making crafts, sewing, gardening, and cake decorating were just a few of the many hobbies she enjoyed. An extraordinary work ethic meant that Trish was always busy, always on the go, and always working on one project or another From carpentry to yard work to craft projects, she stayed active. The only thing that could possibly slow her down was the opportunity to play in the pool or the ocean with her grandchildren, which she loved. Trish modeled Christ in her service to her church, her community, and her family--loving with her actions, words, and deeds. Whether she was taking food to someone in need, working with Vacation Bible School or the Christmas play, organizing the clothes pantry, or planning games for her seniors group, Trish was committed to her church family and immensely enjoyed the fellowship of her friends at Midway Baptist Church. As a teenager, Trish met the love of her life, Horace Gibson, and together they raised a family outside of Clover, SC. There was no role that Trish adored more than being Nana to her grandchildren. Whether it was watching football, basketball, volleyball, awards ceremonies, graduations, musicals, robotics competitions, band concerts, cheer competitions, or dance recitals, Trish proudly supported each of her grandchildren. She also treasured time with her brothers and sisters--shopping, eating out, and exploring were some of her favorite past times. Nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her family, and they are all immensely grateful for the love she showed daily to each of them. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Horace Gibson; daughters Ginger Gibson Marr (Robb) and Kelly Gibson Halk (Boomer); son Troy Gibson (Virginia); granddaughters Erin Marr and Baylee Halk; grandsons Josh Marr, Elijah Gibson, and Ezra Donaldson; sisters Nan Huffstetler and Catherine Rumfelt; brothers George Hoyle and Roy Hoyle; sisters-in law Sue Jenkins and Brenda Hoyle; brother-in-law Harold Gibson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 11 a. m. - 1 p. m. on Saturday, November 18 at Midway Baptist Church, 12984 Highway 55 West, York, SC. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p. m. , and interment will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, Mrs. Kathryn Lynn McHenry, who departed into her eternal home on November 10th, 2023, at the age of 62. Surrounded by the love of her family, Kathy transitioned peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and grace. Born on November 20th, 1960, Kathy graced the world with her presence in East Liverpool Ohio, born to Marcus Trough Jr and Mary Jeanette Walters Trough. Throughout her life, she exemplified the values of kindness, generosity, and resilience. Kathy was a beacon of light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Family was at the core of her being, and she approached each role with love, wisdom, and a nurturing spirit. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where laughter and love abounded. Kathy had an innate ability to connect with others, offering a listening ear, a comforting word, or a helping hand. Her friendships were deep and enduring, a testament to her genuine and caring nature. She will be remembered for the countless lives she touched with her compassion. Proceeded in death by her parents Marcus Trough Jr, Mary Trough, half-sister Sherry Brock. She is survived by her beloved husband Chester McHenry, her son Joshua McHenry, her daughter Tashina Fite (Chris), her sister Joyce Mei (Michael), and her three granddaughters Kaitlyn, Lacey, and Addison.
