Age - 86
September 10, 2023
Santa Rosa, CA
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Bette D. Johnson. Bette passed away after a long illness due to renal failure. Bette and her husband Warren were lifelong residents of Sonoma County. They were married for 68 years and raised their four boys Steve, Scott, Eric and Ryan in Santa Rosa. Bette was born March 3, 1937, to Edith and Michael Widulstky. She attended St. Rose Grammar School and Ursuline High School, then attended a Dental Hygienist school in San Francsico where she worked for short time before marrying Warren in 1955. They set up a home in Kenwood and then in Bennett Valley before retiring to Oakmont. Bette was very active in the St. Eugene's PTA where she served as President in the early seventies when all four of her children were attending the school. She was also very active in the Ursuline Alumni association and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1965. She was a very active and passionate Catholic, attending St. Eugene's parish for years and then Star of the Valley in Oakmont. After raising her children, Bette received her Real Estate license and sold real estate in the Santa Rosa area for over 10 years. She had many passions: mainly her family and friends, being the matriarch of the family, and hosting family gatherings on every holiday. She had many friends, whose friendships she maintained for decades and truly appreciated. She was an avid travel enthusiast, traveling with her husband on Santa Claus Goodwill tours around the world every year, eventually visiting over 40 countries and also traveling on many cruises. She loved to read and worked crossword puzzles daily, always wanting to ensure her mind was strong. For many years she and Warren enjoyed weekly square-dancing sessions. Bette was in constant touch with her children and grandchildren, always interested in their daily activities and spending time with them on holidays. Bette leaves behind her husband Warren Spencer Johnson, sons Steven, Scott (deceased), Eric and Ryan. Also, three grandchildren, Juliana, Ryan (Kelly) and Nicolas and great grandchildren Serena and Alexandra. There will be a service at a later date.
