"Born November 17, 1949, in Terry, Mississippi, to the late Mr. John Yates and the late Mrs. Helen Moore-Yates. Bessie made her heavenly transition on Monday, September 11, 2023, surrounded by family. Bessie was raised in Terry, Mississippi, where at an early age she was baptized at Terry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as usher on the Senior Usher Board. Bessie united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Mr. Ellison Wayne Alford, and loving daughter Helen Dannette Alford. She moved her church membership to Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Florence, Mississippi. She attended Perryman Elementary, Sumner Hill High School, and Jackson State University. Bessie was an avid Basketball and Football fan. She loved \u0026quot;Thee I Love. \u0026quot; Bessie had a long work history, her career employment was with Allstate Insurance Company, with a forty-year tenure, once retired she then continued to work part time with various companies. Puddin as she is affectionately known, is survived by her daughter Mrs. Helen Danette Hill. Brothers; Johnnie Lee Yates Sr. , (Delphine), Willis Yates, Jerry Floyd (Sonya). Sisters Mrs. Mable Lee Butler, and Mrs. Marie Yates Bingham (Benard), and Sister-in-law Mrs. Jewelean Alford-Green. Bessie is also survived by her extended family. Sisters; Mrs. Marie (Candy) Allen, Ms. Bonnie Holly. Brothers; Mr. Willie Earl (Blue) Holly, Mr. Curtis Frank Holly (Edith). Special acknowledgment to Mrs. Veronica Bozeman and Mr. Victor Mayes. She leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and special friends, Mrs. Betty Sue Mayes and Mr. James MaGee. "

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of "Mawmaw" Carolyn Lovell James, who entered her Heavenly Home on Monday, November 27th, 2023. She was a beloved member of Robinhood Baptist Church and left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. One could never miss the radiant presence of Mrs. James. She possessed a unique ability to light up any room she entered. Her warm smile and genuine nature immediately put others at ease. Whether she knew them or not, Mawmaw never met a stranger. Her loving and accepting heart embraced everyone she encountered. Carolyn had a special place in her heart for her \u0026quot;babies. \u0026quot; Her unconditional love extended beyond her own family to include countless others. She dedicated her time and energy to raising four generations of children, leaving an everlasting impact on their lives. Additionally, she played a significant role in running the local youth sports organization, further solidifying her influence on the youth of Rankin County. Whenever the opportunity arose, Carolyn would eagerly embark on fishing trips. However, she had one condition: no catch and release. If she caught it, she was eating it (lol). Fishing and watching football, especially her Beloved New Orleans Saints, were her favorite pastimes. As much as she loved fishing and football, her most cherished moments were spent with her family, and all of her babies. She is survived by her devoted husband, Clifford Randy James, her children Melissa (Steve) Sanderford, Christy (Johnathon) Prince, and one son. She also leaves behind three brothers, Buddy (Pam) Lovell, James (Velma) Lovell, and Harry (Beth) Lovell, as well as three sisters, Barbara Acy, Pat (Charlie) Hebert, and Kristi (Johnnie) Delatte. She is also fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law: Ricky (Patia) James, Gary (Brenda) James, and Larry (Crystal) James, along with her sister-in-law, Kathy Burnham. Carolyn\u0027s impact extended to her 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as countless beloved nieces and nephews. To the many youths she encountered in her lifetime, she was simply known as \u0026quot;MawMaw\u0026quot; - a true angel among us. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lovell Sr. and Elvira Deion Crouch, her daughter Brenda Lee Acy, her brothers William \u0026quot;Billy\u0026quot; Lovell, Tommy Lovell, Daniel Lovell, and Glenn Lovell, her sisters, Linda Sevin and Vera Hilton, her grandson Austin Cole Hoover and two granddaughters, Michelle and Rechelle Acy. She was born to the late Ms. Bettie Fletcher and Mr. Willie (a. k. a) Bill Rawls on Nov. 28, 1955. Ann spent most of her life here In the Sylvarena Community. She enjoyed being here with her parents Ms. Bettie Fletcher and Mr. Willie (a. k. a) Bill Rawls. She was educated in the Rankin County School System and was baptized at the Sylvarena Baptist Church at an early age. Mrs. Annie, as she was called, leave to cherish her precious memories, five children, Tammie Rawls and Derrick Wright of Charleston, South Carolina, Naomi (Darrell) Calender of Pearl, Mississippi, Nicholas Wright of Johns, Mississippi, Jennifer Wright of New Orleans, Louisiana; nine sisters, Dorthy Rawls of Detroit, Michigan, Claudie Lewis of Seattle Washington, Ruby Thompson of Johns, Mississippi, Kather Lean Cameron of Raymond, Mississippi, Betty Coleman of Johns, Mississippi, Willie Mae Flemming of Johns, Mississippi, Gladys Fletcher of Johns, Mississippi, Pauline Bacon of Johns, Mississippi, Clairee Walker of Johns, Mississippi; three brothers, Clifton Rawls of Johns, Mississippi, James B. Aubrey Ray Hopkins of Brandon, MS passed away on November 27, 2023. Ray was born on July 21, 1946, and grew up in Shreveport. He was a successful entrepreneur and businessman, with a strong career in the restaurant and seafood industries. Ray was known to many as an avid LSU Tigers fan, frequently seen at LSU sporting events and consistently wore purple and gold with pride. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Aubrey and Margie Hopkins. He is survived by his wife, Grace Hopkins, his children Teddy Hopkins (Janine), Robin Wilson (Dusty), Chris Hopkins (Cindy), Jordan Sutton (Josh), and Daniel King; his grandchildren Madison Elizabeth Hopkins, Thomas McLeod Hopkins, Matthew Hagen McMillon, Braylan Hunter Hopkins, Kylie Michelle Sutton, and Luke Gabriel Sutton as well as his great granddaughters Madilynn Isabelle Doan and McKinley Rose McMillon. He is also survived by five beloved siblings: Elizabeth, Rickie, Diane, Ronald, and Reggie. He will be remembered for his unconditional love and devotion and his selfless dedication of time, talents, and resources to those he loved. His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was evident as Ray served faithfully at Hillcrest Baptist Church and Center Terrace Baptist Church. " The service for Mr. Hopkins will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Byram, MS, Saturday, December 2, 2023.
