Bertha Gordon(September 19, 1931 - June 20, 2022) PRICE/HELPER- Mary Bertha Valdez Gordon, age 90, left this earth on June 20, 2022 for her eternal home in Heaven, to be with the Lord and to a grand reunion with her loved ones that have passed on before her. Bertha was born on September 19, 1931 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Jose Simon and Mary Elvira Valdez. The Valdez family moved to Utah from Allison, Colorado in 1949. In March of 1954, Bertha married her sweetheart James Donald Gordon. They raised five boys; Don's three young sons and their two they had together. Bertha was also the secretary treasurer for the Assembly of God Church in Price, Utah for a few years. When Bertha was 53 1/2 years old her husband passed away on February 14, 1985. To support herself she went back to work and sometimes had two jobs at a time. Bertha is survived by her sons, Edward Ladd (Jeannine) Gordon, West Valley City, UT. , Ronald (Janice) Gordon, Washington State, Jesse Gordon, Elmo, UT. , Jon (Crystal) Gordon, Helper, UT. ; brother, Sesario (aka Steve) Valdez; sisters, Josie V. (Tony) Gallegos, Ruby V. Yates, Evelyn V. (Gary) Findling; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Eva Valdez, Hemet, CA. , Joyce Valdez, Kathy Valdez, both of Salt Lake City, UT. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Donald Gordon; parents, Jose Simon and Mary Elvira Valdez; brothers, Fidel, Isaac, Dale and Benny; half-brother, Chris Valdez; sisters, Toni V. Martinez and Carolyn V. Ortega; stepson, D. Jim Gordon; and daughter-in-law, Marlayne Gordon. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ladd and Jeannine Gordon for always being so good and attentive to Bertha and for taking care of things when she could not any longer. Bertha had been living at Pinnacle Nursing in Price for the last three years. Graveside service, Thursday, June 23, 2022, 12:00 (noon), Price City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah) from 11:00 - 11:40 a. m. prior to the graveside service.
