Bernadean Talkington, 88, of Ottawa, passed from this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Olathe Health Hospice House. She was born on March 8, 1934, in Rock Creek, KS, the daughter of Clinton and Elva (Haywood) Scheaffer. Bernadean enjoyed riding horses, fishing, reading, country music and western movies. Her greatest joy was seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernadean married Walter Talkington in September 1969 and moved to Cottonwood Falls. She remained there until Walter passed in 2014 then moved to Ottawa where she lived with her oldest daughter and partner. Bernadean is survived by: children, Becky Pittman (Debbie), Vicki Lawrence (Scott), Ron Fleshman; grandchildren, Travis Fleshman (Denna), Billy Fleshman (Stephanie), Taylor McCoy Denver), Trinity Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Grace McCoy, Telicia Fleshman, Daysha Fleshman, Tanya Huse, Marcus Fleshman, Clarissa Fleshman (Elijah), Lendrix, Braxton, Kaden and Jacelyn Fleshman; and great great-grandchildren, Quentin and Lyla. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Lonnie Gilpin; great grandson, Johnathan Fleshman; sister, Betty Myers and brother, Robert Scheaffer. Cremation will take place. Family will greet friends Friday, July 8, 2022, from 4-6 p. m. at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls. No formal service is planned.
