Benigna Lugo Torres, "Nin", 88, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was born Benigna Lugo Torres on May 20, 1934, in San German, Puerto Rico, where she grew up. She later moved to Manhattan and shortly after settled in Brooklyn to raise her family. After retirement she returned to PR. In June of 2014 Nin moved to Hazlet to live with her daughter, Awilda. Nin was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Nin retired after many years from Arwood Corporation, New Jersey, where she worked as a factory worker. She was predeceased by her parents, Juan Lugo and Benigna Torres and her beloved husband Jose Antonio Aponte Rosado as well as six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving daughter, Awilda Velez and her husband, Leo of Hazlet, New Jersey, her dear son, German Antonio Aponte "Tony" and his wife Lourdes of Milton, FL, dear brothers, Raul Lugo and Dimas Lugo, her cherished grandchildren, Alexander Velez, Adriana Graham and Anthony Aponte, and her adored great grandchildren, Jordan Velez, Maya Velez, and Leo Graham.
