Beneda Minnie Marie Rapp of Walkerton passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in her 93rd year. Beloved mother of Al (Janice), Bruce, Brenda, and Lisa (Daren) Haight, all of Walkerton. Proud grandmother of Mitchell, Logan, Emalee, Jenna, Jay, Laura, Curtis, Rachel, and great-grandmother of Delilah and Georgia. Predeceased by her husband Jack (1988), daughter-in-law Lynn Rapp, siblings Carl (Irene) Weber, Verna (Allan) Lemon, niece Linda Pfeffer, and parents Milton and Eda (nee. Weltz) Weber. Friends and relatives are invited for visitation from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walkerton. Pastor Pam McNeil and Pastor Catherine House officiating. Reception to follow. Richard C. Brantley, 91, of Walkerton, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on August 1, 1932, in Walkerton, to the late Charles and Violet (McCarty) Brantley. On May 25, 1985, in Walkerton, he married Marilyn Seider, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Eve (Kirk) Cole of Chesterton, IN, and Dawn (David) Armentrout of Walkerton, a son, David (Val) Brantley of LaPorte and by his stepchildren, Rony (Chris) LaBere of North Liberty, Donna (Randy) Litteral of North Liberty, David (Tina) LaBere of Walkerton, and Roger (Andrea) LaBere of Fish Lake. He was the proud grandpa to 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Kay Chario of Mishawaka and Kent (Susie) Brantley of Walkerton. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Rick Brantley, by his sisters, Betty Birkwhistle, Twilo Campbell, and Peggy Rose, and by two brothers, Jim Brantley and Larry Brantley and by one grandchild. Richard was a lifelong resident to Walkerton area. In his younger days, he loved driving stock cars at the Plymouth Speedway. He was a retired tool and die maker of 31 years from the Bendix Corporation. He enjoyed doing wood crafts, spending time outdoors hunting and camping with family and friends. Richard's greatest joy was when he was spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren. There will be a funeral service at 1:30 P. M. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel", 1216 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, IN 46574, where friends may visit from 11:30 A. M. to 1:30 P. M. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton. Memorial contributions, in honor of Richard, can be made to his family. Nelson Eli Ernest of Brockton Passed away, surrounded by family on Thursday November 2, 2023, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, in his 94th year. Loving Husband of 66 years to Lois (Proud) Ernest, devoted father of Randy (Gerry) Ernest of Brockton, and Barry (Gail) Ernest of Waterloo. Cherished Grandfather of Jacqueline, Katlyn, Michael, Devon, and Travis. He will be missed by his Brothers Bruce of Perry Sound and Earl of Hanover, brother-in-law Art (Lorraine) Proud of Kitchener, sisters-in-law Edith (Bob) McTaggart of London and Marlene Proud of Thunder Bay, and many nieces and nephews. Nelson was born on his family farm in the former Township of Brant and farmed less then a mile from where he grew up. With the help of his son and daughter in law, Randy and Gerry and their children raised a fine heard of Nelson’s prized Limousin beef cows. He had a passion for farming and his Ford 3000 and 5600 tractors. Nelson enjoyed going out to check his cows, telling stories of his youth, and his 6 years of working at Schneider’s in Kitchener. He made a large impact on his neighborhood and will be missed by all that knew him. Nelson is predeceased by his daughter Judy (Keith) McClement, siblings Lloyd (Shirley), Ruth (Robert) Rush, Dorothy Locking, Donald Ernest, Brother-in-law Elgin Proud, sisters-in-law Audrey Ernest, Delza Hunt, Stella (Howard) Locking, and parents Harold and Christina (nee Goetz) Ernest. Stanley Gordon Ferguson passed away on October 31, 2023, in his 90th year surrounded by his family at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton. Beloved husband of Jean Ferguson for 64 years and cherished father to Stephen (Nina) of St. Catharines, Don (Cindy) of North Carolina and the late Robert (Julie) Ferguson of Texas. Stan will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Daniel, Melissa, Collin and Brett. He is survived by his brother Walter Ferguson of Guelph. Stan was predeceased by his brothers Donald Ferguson and Archie Ferguson, as well as his sisters Betty Seim and Anne Eva. Stan was born on March 17, 1934, at Walkerton Hospital. Stan and his family grew up in the goal residence in Walkerton as his parents, Archie and May Ferguson, were the governor and matron of the Bruce County Goal. He grew up playing basketball, football, hockey and curling. After graduating high school, Stan attended electronics school in Detroit, Michigan and returned to Toronto and then back to Walkerton to work for Bell Canada for 35 years. He spent his summers in Inverhuron and his winters in Walkerton. Stan was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Boy Scout Leader. Later in life, Stan enjoyed curling, lawn bowling, bridge, billiards, and sailing. Stan was also an active member of the Walkerton branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Stan will be sadly missed by his family and friends including the Inverhuron happy hour gang. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Amanda Wilhelm and the staff of the Walkerton Hospital for their care and compassion. Glen Alan Sternall of Walkerton passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, in his 83rd year. Beloved father of Carrie (John) Bujold and Julie (Brian Weiler) Biesenthal, both of Walkerton. Glen was the proud grandpa of Maggie, Reagan, Ellie, Macy, Miles, Willow, and Ashton. He will be missed by his sister Brenda Sharpe of Walkerton, niece Bobbi Sharpe, nephew Brent Sharpe, and the extended Lamont Family. Glen was born in his family home and raised in Walkerton. Well known as "Buck", he operated a successful plumbing business, as the second generation, taking over from his father Earl. He loved spending his summers in Muskoka, hunting, and dog trials with English Springer Spaniels. He travelled often, either independently or with his family. Glen was easily recognizable and loved to chat as he walked the trails in the Walkerton area. He will be missed by many. Glen is predeceased by his wife Margaret, brother Roger Sternall, and his parents Earl and Lillian (nee Rapp) Sternall.
