"Mr. Ben Bodne of Brooks, GA passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on September 8, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vicki Codner; Rosalind \u0026amp; Bill Burd and Jack Bodne. Ben is survived by his parents, David \u0026amp; Kim Bodne of Brooks; sisters, Lauren Bodne and her fiancee, Facundo Fabre of Marietta; Cass Bodne of Atlanta; Melanie Bodne of Brooks; longtime girlfriend and love of his life, Raney Walker of Peachtree City; grandfather, Bill Codner and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11 o'clock at The Lake at One Church, 2130 Redwine Rd. , Fayetteville, GA 30215 with Pastor Jim McRae officiating. William Bert Milan, 59, of Brooks, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022. William was born on October 9, 1962, in Baxley, GA. He attended Jeff Davis High School in Hazlehurst, GA where he graduated at the top of his class. William then went on to attend The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He spent a majority of his career working for Delta Airlines, as an aircraft painter. William was always humble and polite, treated everyone he met with respect, and was generous with his time. As a life-long animal lover, he would often bring home stray dogs and cats. William had a great sense of humor and always appreciated a good prank or joke. He enjoyed racing, fishing, hunting, and going to Georgia Tech and Braves games with his daughter, Jessica. But, most of all, William loved spending time with his large family. He played the role of the big brother/father-figure to many and made sure to put others' well-being ahead of his own. He was deeply loved by many and will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. William was predeceased by his father, John L. Milam of Hazlehurst in 1966; his step-father, John T. Mobley of Hazlehurst in 2000; his son Andrew Brown of Decatur in 2007; and his mother, Thelma (Carter) Mobley of Hazlehurst in 2011. William is survived by his wife Annemarie Vohs-Milan of Brooks, as well by his first wife Theresa (Hill) Milan of Fayetteville, and their daughter Jessica Ann Milan of Atlanta. In addition, he is survived by his five siblings, Howard Milan of Woodstock, Kenneth Mobley of Athens, Maggie (Mobley) Wood of Stockbridge, John Mobley of Hazlehurst, and Edward Mobley of Hazlehurst. He will also be greatly missed by his brother-in-law, sister-in-laws, sixteen nieces and nephews, his two step-children, and his three step-grandchildren. In accordance with William's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, there will be a celebration of his life open to family and friends on Sunday, October 9, 2022 starting at 1PM and lasting throughout the day. It will be held at 1450 Tri County Rd, Brooks, GA 30205. Food and drinks will be provided in exchange for memories and hugs. Miles Coleman Head, age 31, of Brooks, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022. Miles was born in Griffin, Georgia on May 2, 1991. He was so loved by all that knew him. After graduating from Whitewater High School, Miles was drafted by Major League Baseball in 2009 by the Boston Red Sox and played with them for 3 years before being traded to the Oakland Athletics. He retired in 2015. Preceding him in death are grandparents, Ray Lisle, and Horace Head Jr. (Norma Head). He is survived by his wife, Hailey Head, daughter, Charlie Head, parents Mike and Beverly Head, brothers Michael Head (Janet) and McClain Head (Fiance, Brittney Baldrica); grandmother, Claudette Lisle, niece, Kayden Head, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Griffin First Assembly, 2000 W. McIntosh Rd. , Griffin, GA. A Celebration of Life will follow in the church sanctuary. Mr. Harold Claude Lee, age 90 of Brooks, Ga, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Lee was born in Brooks, Georgia on September 6, 1931. His parents, Claude Lee and Inez Hubbard Lee; daughter, Debbie Gilmer and sister, Jacquline Nichols, preceded him in death. Mr. Lee was retired from Stowe-Woodward and a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jackie Mangham Lee; daughter, Vickie Tarleton and husband, Roger; son-in-law Bobby Gilmer; grandchildren, Allen Tarleton (Wendy), Darren Tarleton (Elizabeth), Timothy Tarleton (Alexandra), Jason Gilmer (Angela), Shane Gilmer (Emily); 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Fairview Baptist Church. Franklin Lewis Caldwell age 76, of Brooks, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his residence. Franklin was born in Concord, Georgia on April 12, 1945. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Faye Stinchcomb Caldwell; father, Harvey Caldwell and his mother, Lucy Tapley Caldwell. Franklin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bee keeping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Franklin was a member of the class of 1963 at Pike County High School. Survivors include his son Franklin "Reggie" Caldwell; daughter, Dinah Faye Payne; grandchildren, Koty Caldwell, Dylan Caldwell, Savannah Caldwell, Drake Caldwell, Matt Payne, Mitch Payne; 7 great- grandchildren; sister, Joyce Hill; several nieces and nephews. Her parents, Willard and Elsie Hubbard Kierbow preceded her in death. Mrs. Huckaby was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She retired from Georgia Department of Labor. Mr. and Mrs. Huckaby formerly owned and operated Huckaby's Store, and own and operate Huckaby's Deer Processing Center. She's survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerome D. Huckaby; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dave Bergen; grandchildren, Julie Bergen and David Bergen. Visitation for Elaine K. Huckaby will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home and on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Fairview Baptist Church. Vester Davis, age 75, of Brooks, Georgia passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born in Graceville, Florida on October 18, 1945. His parents, Sylvester Davis and Mary T. Peters Davis preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea, and was a retired contractor. Vester loved going fishing, playing golf and gambling in casinos. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was fun-loving, loved to "pick", but was such a good-hearted, selfless man. He is survived by the mother of his children, JoAnn Smith; daughter, Sherrie Stanley and husband, Doug; son, Mike Davis and wife, Mandy; grandchildren, Jordan Stanley, Justin Woods, Trace Davis, Austyn Davis, Aubree Davis, Zack Stanley and wife, Paige; great grandchildren, Kylee Grace Woods, Alex Stanley; sister, Sue Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.
