Born in Lisbon, Maine, Maddy was 6th of 7 children in the family of Ernest and Anna Ouellette. Maddy grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. She attended Lisbon Schools an was an excellent student with dreams of becoming a nurse. She was well like by all and at the end of the war she caught the eye of a handsome young soldier, Albert "Buddy" Junkins, who would become the love of her live. Maddy worked in a small Cafe on Bates College campus in the early years, later went on to being a teacher's aide at Lisbon Elementary and then to retire after 20 years with Geiger Brothers, publishers of the Farmer's Almanic where she was a book binder. Maddy was a rare soul, she never cursed and appreciated the simple pleasures of life: Friends, family, music and nature.
