Barry Eugene Rodgers, age 62, of China Grove, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The full obituary will be posted shortly. The family will receive friends Wednesday,October 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in the Family Life Center of Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with burial in the church cemetery. Lala Eleanor Deal Lowder of China Grove NC passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Lowder was born on January 6, 1929 in Rowan County to Brunner B. Deal and Ceola Kimball Deal. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools and was a lifelong member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ. Earlier in life she had worked for Belk's specializing in alterations and in the Landis Elementary School lunch room. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter; Susan Bohannon and her 5 brothers. Those with cherished memories are her children, Barry Lowder, Jeff Lowder and wife Lisa, Amy Lewis and Barbara H. Corriher and husband Dennis along with 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving her are her sister Eva Mae Deal Yost and husband John, sister in law Jane Deal and son in law Bill Bohanon. Being from a family of 5 other siblings, Lala was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins with generations to follow. Visitation for Mrs. Lowder will be on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10:00 am till 11:00 am in the parlor of Mount Zion United Church of Christ with memorial service to follow at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Mount Zion with Pastor Jim Simonds, officiating. Scott Phillip "Scottie' Simpson passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Medical Center. He was born in San Diego, California on January 26, 1962 to E. A. "Bud" and Peggy Ward Simpson. Scottie was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Louise Wright Nixon, his father E. A. "Bud" Simpson, mother Peggy Ward Simpson and father in law Bill Connell. Scottie grew up in Dunwoody Georgia and is a 1980 graduate of Marist School in Atlanta, as well as Atlanta School of Broadcasting. Scottie loved and lived life to the fullest, serving in his church, community and any way he could to help others. One of his best life adventures was getting to live on the beautiful island of Maui, where he and his wife still have a home. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Angela Connell Simpson, son Jordan Connell and his wife Jenna, brother in law Mark Connell (Heather) mother in law Sherry Connell, niece Maggie Connell, Uncle Joe Nixon (Martha Jo) and many other beloved extended family. Scottie was a member of Village Chapel in Kannapolis. He and his family have been longtime advocates of Alzheimer's and Dementia and Scottie's diagnosis only made this a more heartfelt battle. The family would like to thank Coltrane Life Center, Atrium Health Senior Behavior Unit and 2nd Floor Unit for the amazing care and compassion shown to Scottie in this journey. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5:00 till 6:30 pm at Village Chapel at 310 Brookdale Street in Kannapolis, NC 28083. A Celebration of Life Service will follow after the Visitation.
