It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the news of our Mother Christine's passing at the age of 94. She was at peace and comfortable when she went home to be with her Lord Jesus at Mulberry Healthcare on Monday December 04, 2023. Christine (Dudurich) Mihalko was the loving wife of the late Andrew Mihalko, born on December 2, 1929, in Philipsburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Dudurich of Irvona, PA. One of eight children, Christine was preceded in death by brothers: Charles, John, Nick, George, and Alec, and a sister Anne. She is survived by a sister Eva (Dudurich) Hazelton who is 97 years old. Christine was a cherished figure in her Family and Community, she was not just a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but also a woman of many interests and passions. Christine's life focused on being a wife, home maker, raising her family and being devoted to the Irvona Christian Missionary & Alliance Church. During her 60 years of service and dedication to the Irvona Christian Missionary & Alliance Church and particularly the Sunday School, her teaching began assisting in the church nursery. Over the years she taught every Sunday School grade level. For many years, Christine taught Adult Sunday School Class receiving many accolades from visitors, including visiting Pastors, for her understanding of scriptures. This was a result of many countless hours of Bible Study at home which she enjoyed. Christine believed in the youth learning the Word of God and was a staunch supporter of Summer Vacation Bible School. She served as the Superintendent of Vacation Bible School (VBS) for a number of years. She enjoyed mailing weekly "Praying For You - Get well Cards" as her Ministry to the "Shut ins" of the church. She attended the Annual Mahaffey Camp Meeting and helped to coordinate the collection of gift boxes full of daily necessities needed by the Missionaries of the CM&A Church world-wide. Christine faithfully attended Wednesday night prayer meeting to pray for the infirmed of the community. She was also known for her culinary skills, making her "pigs in the blanket" and apple pies for many of the church functions, as well as funeral luncheons. She enjoyed singing, especially in the ladies trio. Christine was preceded in death by her son Daniel Mihalko, her granddaughter Christina M. (Mihalko) Rock, granddaughter-in- law Lori Mihalko and daughter-in-law Marion Mihalko. Christine is survived by sons: Barry A. Mihalko, Timothy R. Mihalko and wife Nancy, Roger and Sharyn Dudurich, grandson Taras Mihalko, granddaughter, Brittany (Chris) Lamb, great granddaughters, Samantha Mihalko, Natasha Mihalko, and Lila Grace Lamb, grandson-in-law John Rock and his wife Jaclyn and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St. , Coalport, PA 16627. Eleanor Strittmatter, 103, of R. D. Ebensburg, died November 4, 2023, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Leo Smith of Nicktown. She was born March 31, 1920, in Loretto, daughter of the late Sherman and Annie (Parrish) Biter. Preceded in death by her husband, Demetrius on April 27, 2006, son, Ed and his wife Nancy Strittmatter, brothers: James, Alvin, Lawrence, and Norbert, sisters: Alice Biter, Louise Ruffing, and Sr. Miriam Rita Biter R. S. M. , survived by children: Mary Anne Phillips, Joe (Peggy), Ken (Ann), Dan (Janet) all of R. D. Ebensburg, and Theresa (Leo) Smith of Nicktown, 26 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. Eleanor was the last member of her immediate family. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Eleanor and Demetrius had the pleasure of traveling to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico in their 32 foot motorhome. She was a trustee for the State of Pennsylvania, past president of Loretto Senior Citizens, a 4 H Leader, and a member of the Altar Rosary, Auxiliary, and Legion of Mary, and life member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, Very Rev. Earl C. Smithmyer Jr. , 87, of Ashville, died September 20, 2023, at the home of his son Jim Smithmyer. Born November 11, 1935, in Chest Springs, son of the late Earl C. Sr. and Marie (Storm) Smithmyer. Preceded in death by his wife the former Alene Miller on July 28, 2022, daughter, Carrie Wall, infant twin sons: Joseph and John, siblings: Barbara Yeager, Alice (Tom) Farabaugh, Ed, and Thomas. Survived by children: Bill (Cathy Adams), Lori Clauto, Randy (Michelle Clements), and Jim (Brenda McMullen), 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Jason (Andrea), Adam (Stefani), Nickolas (Sara), Justin (Bethany), Keith (Ashley), Jeff, Benjamin (Emily), Jalynn (Cory), Sara, and Bryce, 8 great grandchildren: Haley, Avonelle, Brody, Zander, Isaac, Emmett, Cara, and Brynlee Mae, brothers, Dave (Judy) and Jack (Eileen), brother-in-law, Al Yeager, sisters-in-law, Elaine Smithmyer and Mary Lou Smithmyer. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Earl enjoyed gardening. He was a founding member of the Clearfield Creek Watershed Association, where he served many terms as President. He spent countless hours volunteering at St. Thomas Catholic church, Ashville, and other Community Organizations. Earl was a self- employed master plumber for over 42 years.
