Barbara Jean Stedman, age 90, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. Barb was born on August 9, 1933 in Granite City, IL to Carl Andrew and Opal M (Fowler) Reifsteck. She married Robert Norris Stedman on March 29, 1952 in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1984. Also preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters, June Bornsheuer and Patsy Keene. Surviving are her children, Steven Robert (Donna) Stedman of Jackson, MO, Carla Ann (Dennis) Stedman-Meinders of Chillicothe, IL, Brian Lee (Donna) Stedman of Geneseo, IL and Mark William (Deborah) Stedman of Westmont, IL; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Carl (Hilda) Reifsteck of Chillicothe, IL; and her nieces and nephews. Barb worked for Caterpillar and for First Federal Savings and Loan in Chillicothe before becoming a mother and raising her family. She was an active member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, was an IVC Booster Club member, a scouts leader, a member of the Moose Club of Taylorville and a youth bowling coach. Barb also enjoyed playing cards and Bridge, golfing, bowling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and golf fan. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11am at Chillicothe First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 9am at the church. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Burial will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the church. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.

Carolyn Sue (Bock) Aaron, daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home early Saturday morning, November 25, 2023, at the age of 81. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 4th from 4pm-6pm at Weber Hurd Funeral home, 1107 North Fourth Street, Chillicothe, IL 61523. We invite all friends and family to join us. Carol was born on October 12, 1942 to Grace and Samuel Bock in Galesburg at St. Mary’s Hospital. After graduating high school, she attended Midstate College in Peoria and was an award-winning typist and stenographer. She met her husband Paul while working at Caterpillar, Inc. They married on June 25th, 1965, and celebrated over 58 years together. Carol was a homemaker for several years raising their daughters before returning to work in the late 70’s. She excelled in teaching her daughters everything from cooking to sports, and helping neighbors and the community. She enjoyed playing softball and taught her daughters how to play, and never missed an opportunity to watch them play. She was an excellent bowler making the news on several occasions for outstanding games. She was active in the community, leading a Girl Scout troop for many years and belonged to The Red Hat Society in retirement. She enjoyed antiquing and auctions and had many beautiful collections. Carol loved decorating and baking for Christmas, including an endless number of homemade cookies and chocolates. As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years, she put her impressive organizational skills to work with her Aunt, tracing her family tree as far back as the 17th century. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kathleen (Bock) Mustard. She is survived by husband Paul Aaron, her brother Carl Bock and daughters Nicola Aaron, Thecla Jolene Parrish (Mark), Monique Robbins (Chris); as well as grandchildren Yvette and Nadia Onychuk; Brandon, Alexandra and Mitchell Parrish; Nicholas and Natalie Robbins, and step-grandchildren Brien and Caitrin Robbins. She will be greatly missed.Show more

Patricia A Douthit, 88, of Chillicothe IL, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023. Patricia Ann (Axelson) Douthit was born on October 10, 1935, to Mary J (Konwinski) (1908-1989) and Earl L Axelson (1904-1998) in Amasa, Michigan. Pat was a member of the St Edward's Catholic Church since 1965. She was a member and secretary of Chillicothe Planning and Zoning Commission for 20 years, she worked for the Chillicothe Ben Franklin, Broms Furs & Fashions, She’s A Lady clothing store and was a tutor at Common Place in Peoria for several years. She also volunteered for the Mental Health Crisis line. Pat was a kind, loving wife, grandmother, and friend. She loved to read, dance, and enjoyed her grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do during the holiday season was to make hundreds of Christmas cookies to share with her friends and family. Pat married Dale D. Wolf on February 21, 1952, having 6 children. Teresa Wolf, Jeffrey Wolf, Gregory Wolf, Timothy Wolf, Anthony Wolf and Mary Jo (Wolf) Harkenrider. Later marrying Frank R. Douthit III on November 26, 1970, and having one child, Francy (Douthit) DeVries. Pat had 3 brothers Ward, Bruce, and Richard "Dick" (Arlene) Axelson and one sister Donna (Floyd) Brekke. Pat was proceeded in death by her parents Mary and Earl Axelson. Brothers, Ward (1931-1997), Bruce (1944-2007) and Richard (1932-2023), Axelson and brother in-law Floyd Brekke. Also, her infant daughter Teresa, her twin sons Timothy Wolf (1956-2019) and Anthony Wolf (1956-2013) and her great grandchild Lily Wolf. She is survived by her husband Frank, her sister Donna, her children Jeff (Vivi) Wolf, Greg (Diane) Wolf, Mary Jo (Lou) Harkenrider and Francy DeVries. Her grandchildren Kim (Terry) Johnson, Lisa (Dave) Smith, Pam Scott, Bill (Emily) Scott, Shawn Wolf, Travis (Holly) Wolf, Felicity Wolf, Amanda (Josh) Blake, Andy (Angie) Wolf, Aaron Wolf, Stephen Wolf, Neill Wolf, Riley Wolf, and Gage DeVries. Also, her Great Grandchildren Kayla Wolf, Megan Wolf, Caitlyn Wolf, Wayne Blake, Jolene Blake, Kieran Scott, Jacob (Danielle) Moffitt, Katherine Harkenrider, and Joe Harkenrider. Services will be held at St Edwards Catholic Church on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11am with visitation beginning at 9am. A private burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Rome. Fr. Martin Mwongyera will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Edward Catholic Church. Jerome L. Weistart, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his home in Chillicothe, Illinois on November 6, 2023, at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Weistart, who he married 68 years ago on June 12, 1955. He is also survived by his children, Jerry Weistart, Scott Weistart and wife Rosa, Karen Hornick and husband Brett, and Jennifer Jotch and husband Dwayne. Jerome was blessed with six grandchildren, Monica Carter and husband Anthony, Kate Ramos and husband Edwin, Alex Weistart, Briton Hornick, Ryan Hornick, and Eric Jotch along with two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Veronica Carter. He is also survived by brothers, Barth Weistart, John Weistart and wife Denise, and sister-in law Rosemary Weistart. Jerome was born in Minonk, Illinois on February 23, 1934, to Frank Weistart and wife Verna Barth Weistart who preceded him in death along with brothers David Weistart and James Weistart. Education and basketball were important to Jerome. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and played basketball in the minor league. After working in Chicago for KW Battery Works, he moved to Chillicothe and worked for Princeville Canning Company. Jerome was known for his take charge attitude and financial prowess and became a banker by profession. In his working years, he contributed to his community and served as financial adviser to St. Mark Lutheran Church and Illinois Valley Central School District No. 321. As a child, Jerome had fond memories of his grandfather’s farm. Through that memory, he and Emma Jean purchased farmland and started their own farming operation which is thriving today. Services will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe, Illinois on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11am. A visitation will take place prior to the service on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe as well as on Friday from 10am to 11am at the church.
