Barbara A. Rhoads, 86, of Lancaster, died peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elwood S. and Marion V. Arndt Sensenderfer. Barb worked for F. W. Woolworth Company, Lancaster. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching "Days of Our Lives" and "WWE Professional Wrestling" on TV. Surviving are two daughters: Pamela J. Shaw (Alan J. ) of Leola, Vicki L. Scheetz (Michael C. ) of Lancaster, two sons: James A. Rhoads (Cammyjoy) of Lancaster, C. Russel Rhoads III (Anna) of Lancaster, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Gail E. Harrell (Walter Jr. ) of Monticello, GA. Preceding her in death is a brother, William A. Sensenderfer. Sarah Ann Fitzpatrick (April 10, 1994 – November 29, 2023) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarah Fitzpatrick on November 29, 2023. Sarah was born on April 10, 1994, to Dale and Diane Fitzpatrick, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy. Sarah grew up in Lititz, and was a proud graduate of Warwick High School, Class of 2012. She later earned her degree in Marketing from Temple University in 2016. Her passion for creativity and innovation shone through, and she applied her skills with dedication and flair. Beyond her professional achievements, Sarah was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. She resided in Wrightsville with her boyfriend Ben Everett and dog named Hitch, sharing a life filled with love and laughter. Sarah cherished her family, including her sister Kristi Fitzpatrick, brother Matt Fitzpatrick, grandmother Barbara Mendola and her best friend Jen Claffey along with devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sarah's vibrant personality extended into her hobbies, where she found joy in shopping, exploring the world of makeup, and anything related to dogs. She had an innate ability with computers and smartphones, showcasing her technological prowess effortlessly. In her time with us, Sarah touched the lives of those around her with her infectious spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service to celebrate Sarah's life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Lancaster Center for Animal Life-Saving (Humane Pennsylvania) 2195 Lincoln Hwy. East, Lancaster, PA 17602, a cause close to Sarah's heart. Interment will be in Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery. Gladys M. Ulmer entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 following a brief illness. She was born in East Petersburg, the youngest of five children, to C. Lloyd and Esther (Myers) Groff. She graduated from East Hempfield High School in 1951. On September 28, 1952 she married C. Roger Ulmer and they were married for 71 Years in September 2023. She started working for Old Guard insurance Company, later becoming a licensed agent and worked for them for 37 years. After retiring from Old Guard, she worked for S. Clyde Weaver for 15 years. As a member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren she served on various committees as well as serving as a Deacon and Financial Secretary. She chaperoned two Youth mission trips-one to Florida and one to the Choctaw Indian reservation in Oklahoma. She was an active charter member of the Hempfield Woman’s Club where she volunteered on various committees. She was also a dedicated volunteer and enjoyed helping to plan many activities for Friendship Community. Gladys always enjoyed sports and it was a great joy for her to attend the activities and sporting events of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren – always so proud of their successes. Gladys and Roger enjoyed traveling and have many wonderful memories of trips they enjoyed with family and friends in the U. S. and abroad. Always a highlight of her years was the annual family vacation to Ocean City, NJ. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by four children, Cynthia K. wife of Richard Harnish; Susan F. wife of James Musser; Douglas R. husband of Kim Ulmer; Stevan J. husband of Jessica Ulmer. Also twelve grandchildren: Bryan husband of Julene Harnish, Christopher husband of Bethany Harnish, Brent husband of Megan Musser, Dustin Musser, Cody Musser, Kyle Ulmer, Anthony Ulmer, Kendra wife of Landon Musser, Zachary husband of Jessica Ulmer, Rachel wife of Shawn Bishop, Nicholas Ulmer, Matthew Ulmer. Also, five step grandchildren: Matthew husband of Angelie Harnish, Emily Harnish, Brooke Musser, Andrew Potter, Ava Potter, nine great grandchildren: Chase, Aubrey, Laiken and Kellen Harnish, Joel, Elliott and Willow Harnish, Brayson and Kylie Bishop, six step grandchildren: Ethan and Connor Harnish, Cameron and Grace Musser, Mason Rafferty, Marley Martin. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents, are a grandson, Robert Douglas Ulmer, a step grandson, Matthew Musser, three brother: Clarence, Paul, Robert Groff and a sister, Marian Sweigart. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Glady’s Celebration of Life Service at Hempfield Church of the Brethren, corner of Stevens Street and MetzlerRoad, East Petersburg, on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Robert M White of Columbia, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away at home on November 30th from natural causes. Bob was born at home in Newlin Township, Chester County, on November 17, 1937, to Carl Estel and Dorothy Grace Hensel White. At that time, he joined siblings Raymond (already deceased), Pete, Tom, Pat and Gloria. In the six years following his birth, he was joined by siblings Sharon, Linda, Bill and Mitch. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. In 1958 he married Faye Warfel and they had two children, Kathleen and David. Following their divorce, he married Patricia Murray and they would have been married 54 years on December 31st. Bob retired from then PP&L after 25 years of service in 1993, where he started in construction and worked his way to First Class Underground Repairman. An avid and successful hunter, he enjoyed hunting in PA and Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Alberta Canada, Missouri and Iowa. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Mount Joy Sportsmen's Association. He also was a collector of military items and was known for his knowledge of the Springfield rifles. For many years Bob and Pat enjoyed the cabin in Juniata County they built and co-owned with "brother" John Geltmacher and his wife Janet. When asked what his grandchildren should call him, he thought a few minutes, then said "Old Man" but it has to be done with respect, and it was. He was affectionately called "Pop-Pop" by his great grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his parents, brothers Raymond, Pete, Tom and Mitch and by his sisters Pat Derr and Gloria, great grandson Daniel Herr and by his Korean daughter-in-law Hoe Chong White. He is survived by, in addition to his wife, Kathleen and David; grandchildren Pam Herr (Scott), Charles Raffensberger (Elizabeth), David Raffensberger, Matthew Raffensberger (Adela) and Shawn Raffensberger (Shella); and great grandchildren Katie, Kyah and Lilly Herr and Chloe, Autumn and Chuck Raffensberger. Bob was a generous, hard working man who loved the outdoors and who will be missed by his extended family and friends with fondness and laughter. At his request, there will be no services. I leave you with this thought to keep- I am with you still, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am a diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Jason William Shaeffer, 46 of Mount Joy, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Born in Harrisburg, PA, he was a son of April (Keeler) Wood and the late William Shaeffer. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his aunt, Sharon. Surviving are his loving wife; 3 sons; his mother, April; his sister, Amanda; his nephew, Richard; niece, Wilhelmina; and various aunts; uncles; and cousins. As a young child, he was the youngest certified hand glider in Lancaster County. He worked at Hatt's auto-repair as an auto mechanic for 28 years before his retirement. He was extremely passionate for adventure, which was evident in the things he loved to do with his family and friends. Some of those adventures included fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, and spending time with friends. He was known as the "Crazy Fun Guy" who literally had no fears. He was always willing to face a challenge knowing that in the end, something exciting or funny was bound to happen. His friends often referred to him as the most honest, loyal, fun, and honorable person which made a lasting impact to their lives. His adventurous and "crazy fearless" self will never be forgotten. In honoring Jason's wishes, there will be no services. In his words, "In time to come, way later down the road, when it doesn't hurt so much, have everyone sit around the campfire and tell stories of the good days, good times, and amazing memories and just have fun!"In lieu of flowers, go have an adventure, do things that bring you joy, spend time with those that fill your heart and soul with love, laughter, kindness, and respect. Robert J. "Bob" Darrenkamp, Jr, 89, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Brethren Village, Lititz. He was the loving husband of Gail (Sleeth) Darrenkamp, and they celebrated 39 years of marriage this past April. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Robert J. Sr. and Lena (Quino) Darrenkamp. Bob was a purchasing agent and traffic manager at Electron Energy, Landisville, he was also an account for the former Classic Cut & Style; and was a lane clerk at Manheim Auto Auction for 20 years. He was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster and was active with the pinochle card group, senior citizen group, dinner with friends, and the Knights of Columbus. Bob also enjoyed baseball and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, and cheering for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. and golf. Surviving in addition to his wife Gail are four children Renee, Robert J. , III (Karen), Shelly, Scott; two step-sons, Robert Devenney (Megan), Wade Devenney; 6 grandchildren; and three sisters Sylvia, Frances Roschel (Ron), and Carlene Rose (Randy). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Louise Schmalhofer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Road, Lancaster on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Dan Powell, Celebrant. "Richard Swope, 84, of Elizabethtown, joined his Savior in glory on the evening of Wednesday, October 25, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Jacob G. and Mabel (Sipling) Swope. Rich married his wife and best friend, Esther (Fittery) Swope, on April 25th, 1959. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. They faithfully attended Conoy BIC Church. Rich was the owner and operator of Swope's Refrigeration, a business he ran for 30 years with the help of his faithful wife. He enjoyed restoring and renovating tractors, cars, and other equipment in his free time, especially anything related to Studebaker. He frequently rode his fully restored Allis Chalmers tractor in local parades. He loved trips to the Susquehanna River with his wife and family and watching cars pass by on his front porch or favorite recliner. Surviving in addition to his wife, Esther, are two children: Marlin J. Swope, husband of Kathy of Elizabethtown; and Lori Keener, wife of Keith of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren: Brent Swope, partner of Vanessa Royal; Ryan Swope, husband of Jenna; Mariah Keener; and Haley Keener; and three great grandchildren: Kaylee, Brielle, and Serenity Swope. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Swope, and six siblings: Jay J. Swope, Alma Johnson, Laverne Swope, Erma Aungst, Clarence Swope, and Geraldine Hoffer. A funeral service celebrating Rich's life will be held at Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Rd, Hershey, PA 17033 on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received for a viewing at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. , 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM and again on Tuesday, at the church, from 10 AM to 11 AM.
