Barbara Ann Milton, 80Barbara Ann Milton, 80, of Punxsutawney, died Friday October 6, 2023, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA. She was born June 3, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Anna (Sakas) and George Zihal. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Daniel V. Milton, III who survives. They loved and took care of each other for 58 years. Barbara graduated from Homestead High School, worked in downtown Pittsburgh as a secretary for McKay Company, and married Daniel in 1965. She stayed at home to raise their three children and often said it was the best job she ever had. Barbara was active as a troop leader for the girl scouts, den mother for boy scouts, homeroom mother, member of the Punxsutawney Welcome Wagon, and member of the West End PTO. Later, she worked as a teller for First Federal Bank. After she retired, Barbara took care of her elderly father for many years. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, macrame, and ceramics. There was no craft she tried that she didn't master. She also loved gardening and playing cards. Even in the midst of dementia, it was tough to beat her at a hand of 500. Barbara was a born caretaker with a heart whose compassion knew no bounds. Her family was her life. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. Barbara was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Church of Punxsutawney. In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include three children; Daniel Milton and wife Tonya of Punxsutawney, PA, Carole Roberts and husband Michael of Punxsutawney, PA, and Sharon Stupak and husband Jason of Cranberry Twp. , PA; grandchildren, Sierra Yamber and husband John, Austin Milton, Jesse Milton, Jake Stupak, Ben Stupak, Ryan Roberts, and Olivia Roberts; two great grandchildren, Jackson Milton and Leo Yamber; a brother, Ronald Zihal and wife JoAnn, and a sister, Carol Stephenson and husband Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p. m. , Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a. m. , Monday, October 9, 2023, at SS. C. D. Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Punxsutawney. Shirley Hughes Dennis Vaughn, 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. A visitation with family and friends will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg, SC on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. Pallbearers will be Al M. Hughes, Jr. , Tracey B. Hughes, Benjamin C. Hughes, Al Thomas Hughes, Justin Brownlee and Ryan Vaughn. Survivors include her four children, Sheryl Hughes Manning of Columbia, Al M. Hughes, Jr. of Orangeburg, Tracey B. Hughes (Jami) of Orangeburg, and Benjamin C. Hughes of Orangeburg; sister, Janie Ackerman of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Candace Green of Greer, Nicole Aston (Matt) of Atlanta, Kyle Hughes (Jillian) of Charleston, Maggie Brownlee (Justin) of Summerville, Katelin Hughes (Chris) of Charleston, and Al Thomas Hughes of Summerville; seven great-grandchildren; niece, April Edwards (Hal) of Creston; special daughter in love Kathryn Wienges of St. Matthew's; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton "Pete" Burke and Clay Champy Burke; and husbands, Al M. Hughes, Arthur McIva "Mac" Dennis, and Henry Milford Vaughn. Shirley was born on January 10, 1938 in Orangeburg, SC and graduated from Orangeburg High School. In 1961, she and her husband, Al, opened Lighting Creations and were proud to serve the Midlands by offering "every kind of light under the sun. " After Al's passing, Shirley continued to operate and grow the business, shaping it into one of the largest lighting showrooms in the Southeast. Lighting Creations was a cornerstone of the Orangeburg community for 50 years. Shirley was a dedicated Christian and was a lifelong member of Northside Baptist Church. She loved music and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Orangeburg Chamber of Commerce and several antique car clubs for many years. Shirley was an avid Clemson Tigers fan and was an IPTAY Club member. She spent many Saturdays cheering on the Tigers with friends and family. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, entertaining at her home, and sharing her love of cooking with friends and family. Shirley loved her family fiercely. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and was the matriarch of her family. Her heart was pure, and she always saw the best in others. She did anything she could to help someone in need. She radiated joy throughout her final days and always emphasized how deeply she had been blessed by the Lord. Ronald T. Spires, 67, of St. Matthews passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Fellowship of Praise Church, 8280 Old #6 Highway, Santee. Pastor Ronnie Spires will be officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery, St. Matthews. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P. M. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Fellowship of Praise Church prior to the funeral service. Marion L. O'Cain, 84, of 1079 Bethel Forest Rd. , Orangeburg, S. C. , passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 12:00 P. M. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman St. , Orangeburg, S. C. Visitation will be held at 11:00 A. M. until 12:00 P. M. before the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton St. , Orangeburg, S. C. Mr. O'Cain was born December 8, 1938, in Orangeburg, S. C. to the late Lever H. O'Cain, Sr. and Mattie Ayers O'Cain. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Floyd O'Cain, his brothers Glenn H. O'Cain, Leroy A. O'Cain, and Lever H. O'Cain, Jr. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church of Orangeburg, S. C. , a member of the Woodmen of the World Society, and served in the National Guard for six years. Mr. O'Cain was a retired farmer and cotton ginner with both the Orangeburg Gin and O. L. Hughes Gin.
