Barbara Ann Romano McCormick, age 82, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at The Crescent Rehabilitation Facility in Fort Bend County. Barbara was born in Bridgeport, CT, the only child of the late Joseph Albert Romano and Verna/ Veronica Bernice (Kaczynski) Romano. She may have not have had any siblings, but she was doted on by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins who affectionately referred to her by her nickname, "Bunny". Barbara graduated from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield and received her B. S. in Home Economics from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY (now a part of Fordham University). She completed a textile design course through a study abroad program in Europe through Temple University in Philadelphia. Barbara received her M. S. in Education from Western Connecticut State College in Danbury, CT. She taught Home Economics at Elias Howe Elementary School and Central High School. Barbara served as the Chairman of the Home Economics Department at Trumbull High School. Her family was impressed by her academic achievements and often referred to her as the most highly educated woman in our family. Barbara enjoyed fulfilling her creative interests with a variety of activities - she was a skilled seamstress (a talent inherited from her Mother and Grandmother); she was a talented cook that provided many dishes for multiple family celebrations; she was a Master Gardner through the Fort Bend County Master Gardner Program, a group that she spent may happy years working with their community outreach programs; and she supported her children's schools in a variety of roles through the Mother's Clubs of Saint Agnes Academy (Houston, TX), Strake Jesuit College Preparatory (Houston, TX), and as President of the PTO of Saint Luke School (McLean, VA). Barbara married the love of her life, Robert Douglas McCormick, at Notre Dame Church in Easton, CT on August 19, 1967. They recently celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. They were members of St. Laurence Church Parish in Sugar Land, TX. Barbara and Bob were blessed with three children - Barbara Ann Petrov (Brian); Robert Douglas, Jr. ; and, David (Rachel). Barbara enjoyed many years of fun with her three grandchildren - Alexandria, Robert Douglas, III, and Zachary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held meeting directly at St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday at 11:00a. m. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford immediately following the funeral service. There will be no calling hours. Roy Worth Whitney, age 87, of Lytle, Texas died November 30, 2023 at Methodist Hospital - Sugar Land in Sugar Land, Texas. Roy was born in Comfort, Texas on December 16, 1935 to parents Milby Emma Camille Stieler Whitney and Herman Worth Whitney. Roy grew up in Lytle, Texas and attended Lytle High School. After high school, Roy joined the Navy along with 2 boyhood friends. After basic training, Roy was stationed in Guam as a Communications Operator during the end of the Korean War. Later, after serving proudly for nearly 2 years, he decided to join the Naval Reserves which allowed him to go to college at South West Texas University in San Marcos, Texas to study accounting. While studying at SWT, he met Anita Greathouse. Within months they were married on December 20, 1958. Within a year they welcomed Karen Marie Whitney in 1959, Jarel Craig Whitney in 1963, Laura Jo Whitney Fereira in 1966 and Elizabeth Anita Whitney in 1974. After graduation from SWT, Roy went to work for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) until his retirement in 1997. Roy retired from the Navy Reserves in 1982, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In addition, of leaving behind four children, Roy has 3 grandchildren, Anita MacKay Whitney, 20, Joshua Worth Whitney, 18 and Bruce Michael Fereira, 13. Roy is also survived by his brothers and sisters Cullen Whitney, Hazel Thurston, Betty Faye Appelt and Troy Whitney along with nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. Roy enjoyed his volunteer work with Mended Hearts, a charity for heart patients, Texas German Society and Texas Archaeology Society. "George G. Morin, 72, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on November 29, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. George retired after 30 years from Harris County, Precinct 3 as the Fleet Manager under Commissioner Steve Radack. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land and was involved with the 4C's Club and the Masonic Lodge. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be missed. George is preceded in death by his parents, Carmen V. Gomez, Gregorio N. Morin, and Maria Luisa Padilla Morin. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Esperanza Rubio Morin; children, Yvonne Sanchez (Richard), George Morin, Jr. (Amanda), Isabel Rodriguez (Jose) and Oscar Morin. George's legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Samantha Jo (Danny), Ricardo (Samantha), Isabel, Evangelina, Madison (Jon), Giselle (Lee), Alexis, Jose (Precious), Jace (Hailey), Jacob and Jayden. George was proud to be the Great Grandfather to Ava, Samuel Y. , Samuel S. , Selene, Benjamin and Eloise. He is also survived by siblings, Christina, Gregorio, Jose (Belinda), Angelita(Carl), Isauro (Christine), Reynaldo (Pamela), Gerardo (Geraldine), Santiago (Lisette) and Margarita (Michael); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. "Oscar Botello, 67, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on November 19, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He was born on September 9, 1956 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Teodoro and Maria Lydia (Vasquez) Botello. Oscar was of Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land. He was employed for the last 38 years as a Site Manager for JBT Aero Tech in Houston. He was an avid sports fan, always eager to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Houston Astros, just to name a few. He also enjoyed going to the theatre to watch movies. Oscar loved the beach and enjoyed spending a week every summer for the past 30\u0026#43; years at South Padre Island. He loved deep sea fishing and jumping the waves. This loving brother, uncle and friend will truly be missed. Survivors include his siblings, Arturo Botello (Sylvia), Dora Balladares, Imelda Dominguez, Lilliana Rodriguez (Robert) and Mario Botello (Belinda); nieces and nephews, Arturo, Jr. , Melissa, Jerry, Jessica, Monica, Selene, Cesear, Jackie, Stephanie and Jennifer.
