Laviolette, Barbara Ann (Bobbie), age 86, of Indian River, formerly of Swartz Creek, passed on October 3, 2023, at the Pines of Goodrich in Goodrich MI. Bobbie was born in Flint MI, to Lavern and Leona (Robinson) Beckley on September 10, 1937. She grew up on Winona Street. She married A. Robert Laviolette the love of her life. They had 54 wonderful years together before he passed away. Barb and Bob lived on McCollum Ave in Flint for their early years. After their youngest was born they moved to Trapani Lane in Swartz Creek where Barb raised her 4 hellish sons who terrorized Floria Village. During this time, she obtained her Cosmetology License. After retirement Barb and Bob moved to Indian River, Michigan to their house on Burt Lake. Barbara had four sons and two daughters, Robert Timothy (Sandra) Laviolette of Troy MI, Thomas Brian (Deirdre) Laviolette of Ortonville MI, David Mark (Diane) Laviolette of Durand, Brian (June) Laviolette of Swartz Creek MI, Lee Ann (Fred) Malenfant of Indian River MI. She leaves brother James, sisters Sue, Pam, six granddaughters, one grandson, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Jean Laviolette, brother Donald, sisters Dorothy, Sandy, and granddaughter Krista Laviolette. She was loved and will be dearly missed! Per Bobbie's wishes no planned funeral or memorial. She will be interred at Oakhill Cemetery in Indian River if you would like to pay your respects privately.

Lauretta was born in Flint, Michigan on November 8, 1937, the daughter of the late George and Neva (Stuck) McNally. On September 22, 1956 she married Donald Bauer. She was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran, where she was active serving on various committees. She was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She organized Euchre clubs for many years. She worked at Buick Engineering for 23 years. Surviving are her husband, Donald; 3 children, Glen (Jackie), Tracie (Norm) Crook and Katrina; grandchildren, Ashley (Stefan) Fadel, Meagan (Anderson) Adams and Shana (Beau) Jamison; 7 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kate, and Anderson Adams, Alexander, Evan, Brooke and Madison Fadel; many nieces and nephews; cousin, Sharon Secord. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Camerino; sister, Mary Jean Mannor and brother, Dennis "George" McNally.Show more

Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint with Father Matthew Peter-Butrie officiating. Visitation 11 a. m. Monday until the time of service at the funeral home. Vivian was born in Flint, Michigan on June 1, 1942 the daughter of the late Vladimir and Anna (Brayan) Popoff. She married William Korth on September 19, 1959. She founded the Michigan Women's Volleyball Association, and also officiated and coached high school and college volleyball. She loved drawing, painting, shopping and adored her cabin up north. Vivian was proud of her grandfather having an original Coney Island in Flint and her parents having the Golden Spike and Esquire Inn. She especially loved spending time with her family. Surviving are daughter, Kathryn (Mickey) Tarrance of Burton; son, Michael Korth of Burton; 7 grandchildren; including special granddaughter, Jennifer (Carolyn) Gregus of Grand Blanc; 5 great-grandchildren; special niece, Diana Smith of Goodrich; sisters-in-law, Elaine Draper of South Carolina and Doris Popoff of Grand Blanc; many nieces, nephews and friends. BENTLEY, Phyllis A. - Of Davison, age 82, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at McLaren-Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm on Thursday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Zion's Hope or Turning Point, Dr. David Jeremiah. Phyllis was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 2, 1940, the daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Richardson) Abel. Phyllis graduated from Central High School, Class of 1959 and received her Associates in Business at Mott Community College. Phyllis married Loren Robert Bentley "Bob" on February 24, 1968. Phyllis was a Deaconess, social committee, awana club at North Baptist Church from 1968-1987, a member of Calvary Bible Church of Lapeer. Phyllis matured into her religious endeavors at Oak Park United Methodist Church. Phyllis loved flower arrangements and photography. Phyllis started her career at McLaren in 1957 and worked her way up to the diet office and medical records. From 1967 to 1983 she worked at Flint Osteopathic Hospital, where she was a medical transcriptionist and a pathology medical secretary. Surviving are brother, Richard (Patricia) Abel of Davison; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Robert Bentley.Show more

Patsy Lynn

Patty age 84 of St. Johns formerly of Swartz Creek, escaped the clutches of Alzheimer's surrounded by the love of her family on November 28th 2023, at Hazel Findley in St. Johns. Celebration of life for Patty will be held at Swartz Funeral Home in Flint Michigan, 1225 W. Hill Rd at 1 pm on Saturday December 9th 2023, with visitation prior to service 11am to 1pm. Cremation has taken place. Family graveside service will be held at a later date at Beach Cemetery in Essex Township. Patty was born on July 1, 1939 to Ethel Lottie (Aldrich) and George Ferguson along with her twin Peggy. They were born in Bloomfield Missouri but grew up in Dexter Missouri, known as "the cotton belt. " Patty had a total of five sisters and later in life a half-brother. In 1955 the twins were given the chance to leave the cotton belt for a summer of adventure. They headed up to Flint Michigan to stay with some cousins and pick strawberries. That is when she met the love of her life, Husted! They continued their courtship even after she went home. Husted driving on weekends 700 miles just to see her for a few days then turn right back around and head back to Flint to work at General Motors. Those drives continued for a couple of more years until they married on July 6th, 1957, five days after Patty turned 18. This meant leaving her twin for the first time in their lives, both in tears. Only to have her twin join her in Michigan two months later as her twin married Husted's brother. Patty and Husted settled down in Michigan and raised three children- Tony, Tonya and Tamra. Patty was a devoted mother, which is an act of personal sacrifice unto itself. She was a Boy Scout leader, a home room mother, a Sunday school teacher, a seamstress, a doll maker, a cake decorator and a devoted wife. Patty made it her responsibility to tell her children about Jesus. This was something she was taught by her mother at a very young age. Her memories of her mother laying a Baptist pallet down in the yard during those hot humid summer evenings so her and her sisters could lay there and listen to their mother telling Bible stories. Her mother could not read or write but she took them to any church that was open no matter the denomination just to learn Bible stories so she could continue to tell her girls about the love and goodness of Jesus. Patty took that love of her mother and Jesus with her throughout her life and made her mission to find a church to worship as a family and live in the faith. The family set roots in Swartz Creek in 1969 and started attending First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek where all three of her children were saved and baptized. Patty was known to say many times throughout her life. . . "we are blessed Husted, God has been good to us. " Once Patty raised her children she wanted to venture out into the workforce. She found her perfect place at Walmart in St Johns in the fabric dept. of all places and worked there for 15 years. Applying her talent and love for people daily, made her the perfect example of a dedicated employee that Sam Walton strive for back in the day. Which she was acknowledged several times in her career by the company. Patty was known to take home shirts of the elderly and sew on their buttons that they had purchased but couldn't see well enough to do it themselves. She also loved to open her farmhouse for the Walmart yearly employee summer picnic. You had to be careful to say you liked anything of hers because if you did she would want to give it to you. Patty had a servant's heart. Patty is survived by Husted her loving husband of 66 years; her sweet baby sister Betty Tipton, her three children and their families: Tony and Jamie of Plymouth, Tonya and Tim of Mundy Township and Tamra and Rick of Wayland. Her grandchildren- Naomi, Bethany, Andrew, Zak and Kelsee, Lindsey, Heather, Ryan, Kelly and Karly, Brandon, Blake and Hannah. Along with 19 great grandchildren. Patty is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Pauline, Verline, Virginia and her twin Peggy. She is in heaven rocking all the babies, her heart is full. The family would like to thank the very caring staff at Hazel Findley the caregivers took loving care of her. Forever indebted to all of you. Betty was born in Eagle Lake, Florida on September 23, 1950, the daughter of James Eylon and Imogene Alene (Smith) Jones. On December 21, 1968 she married David Petriken in Flint. Above all else Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, looking through thrift stores for a good bargain; learning to cook a new recipe, doing puzzles on her Ipad and watching a Hallmark movie. In the spring after Mother's Day she would spend days picking out flowers, planting and tending to them throughout the growing season. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nana and friend, and will live on in our hearts. She worked 30 plus years for Social Security in Flint. Surviving are husband, David; daughter, Stacie (Michael) Borsellino; grandson, Anthony; sisters and brothers, Gail, Dale, Jim, Sharon, Ray and Faye. On October 20, 1956 he married Genevieve Weber at St. Charles & Helena Church. Edward enjoyed archery, target shooting, camping, woodworking, travel, motorcycles, restoring cars and his family. Surviving are wife of 67 years, Genevieve; children: James (Phyllis), Terese (Greg) Jones, Richard (Janet), Edward (Michele); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
