"Sean Damon Connelly, known as Sean to his family and Damon to his friends, was a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away on October 23, 2023. Born on August 31, 1978, in Stamford Connecticut, Sean was known for his intelligence and wit. The beloved son of Edward "Ned" Connelly and Kathy Connelly, Sean was devoted to his family, always cherishing the moments he spent with loved ones. He was the proud brother of Kevin Connelly and Erin Fulton and a doting uncle of Hailey Simpson. His infectious humor and quick intelligence were always at the ready to lend a unique perspective. Sean's professional journey had recently led him to bartending at various venues, most recently the Paupack Watering Hole, where he was known for his friendly demeanor. Sean's coworkers and patrons alike will remember him for his friendly manner, his engaging conversation, and his knack for making everyone feel welcome and valued. He will be remembered as a member of their family. Sean's memory was extraordinary. He could recall conversations from his childhood and recite them verbatim decades later, but his favorite was the words to songs. A poet at heart, he gathered thousands of songs into his devices, and he rarely did anything without listening to music at the same time. His love of words made him an avid reader and he always said that Kurt Vonnegut was his favorite author, a man. Sean said, who wrote as Sean thought. As we mourn the loss of Sean Damon Connelly, we also celebrate the life he led. His laughter, his intelligence, and his friendly, open spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Sean's life was a testament to the value of friendship and the importance of family. As we remember Sean, let us strive to honor his memory by embodying the values he held dear. He may have left this world, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our memories. "Show more

"Shirley Rose Abuiso, 88, of Canadensis passed away in her home on Monday, October 9, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Goeller) Hoffman. Preceded in death by her husband John N. Abuiso. They are now reunited once again in Heaven to continue their love story. An amazing love story that spanned 7 decades, 3 wars, 7 children, half a dozen Navy bases and more love than can be expressed here. Their story together was amazing and if I began to tell it, you would not believe half of it, although every word would be true. Through it all, the good and the bad, they held on to each other and rose above it all. A true American love story. Foremost, Shirley was a mom. Raising seven children of her own along with countless neighborhood kids, cousins, nieces and nephews that were always over. Her house was always the little CYO. A place for anyone and everyone. It is impossible to number the amount of people and the lives she has helped in a 100 different ways. Anyone who knew her knows what I am saying and anyone who knew her was better off because they did know her. Shirley never said "No" If she could do something for anyone, she did, friend or foe. Even at times to the chagrin of her own family and friends. People were drawn to her. She was more than special. We were blessed to have known her. The world is diminished with her passing. Shirley was an active member of the former St. Bernadette's Church where she took great pride in youth ministries and their accomplishments. Survivors: Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her son, Anthony Abuiso and his wife Dawn; daughters, Kathleen Caponigro and her husband Charlie, Donna Abuiso and Mary Deutsch and her husband Marc. Michael Oliver

Michael Oliver

Age - 69

September 14, 2023

"Michael Glen Oliver, 69, of Canadensis passed away suddenly on Monday, August 28, 2023. Born outside Pensacola, Florida, he was the son of the late Dewey Glen and Katherine Louise (Price) Oliver. Michael was the husband of the late Deborah Oliver. Mike had a tough childhood growing up in a Navy family, never spending much time in one place being relocated from city and state to state over his early years for his father's job. He met Debbie in Gainesville, Florida while she was attending the University of Florida. They started a family there in Lake Butler until moving to the Poconos in 1989, where he spent the remainder of his life. Mike was a master carpenter and storyteller and loved classic rock music. He held various jobs over his career from owning his own business "Custom Deck and Backyard," to framing houses, and finished out his career with Skepton Construction building schools throughout the region. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunting and fishing were his passions which he loved to do with his children, as well as completing the never-ending projects on their old house over the 34 years they lived there. His work ethic was second to none, working early in the morning till late at night, sometimes in multiple jobs to provide for his family. This eventually took its toll on his body with multiple joint replacements and an early retirement. He lived his life for his family, took great pride in, and loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and traveled for bi-weekly visits to them until the end. The countless stories he told about his unbelievable life adventures, and lessons he taught about hard work, outdoor life, and carpentry will forever live on with his children. His last few years had been a struggle for him and his family as he battled declining physical heath and underwent treatment for mental illness. Survivors: Mike will be remembered for the man he was by his sons, Adam Oliver and his spouse Shannon Oliver, Joseph Oliver and his partner Kris Brandi, and Daniel Oliver and his spouse Lauren Oliver; as well as his 5 grandchildren Garrett, Bennett, Hunter, Callie, and Sadie. Deborah Oliver

Deborah Oliver

Age - 68

September 14, 2023

"Deborah Ann (Birnbaum) Oliver, 68, of Canadensis passed away suddenly in her home on Monday, August 28, 2023. Born in Flemington, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Selma (Stefel) Birnbaum. Debbie was the wife of the late Michael Oliver. To know Debbie, was to love her. She dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and the children of others as a lifelong educator, recently retiring from East Stroudsburg School district as a 4th grade teacher. Debbie lived in New Jersey until moving to Florida to attend the University of Florida, and stayed to begin raising her family in Lake Butler, then moving to the Poconos in 1989 where she lived out the remainder of her life. She was the most giving and selfless person, strong, fun, opinionated, master chef, decorator, and always looking for a bargain (just like her mother Selma). Until the end she put the needs and well-being of others ahead of herself and lived for her family and to make them safe and happy. In retirement, she loved cooking extravagant meals (and bringing them with her wherever she visited), going on cruises with her sisters, and bi-weekly visits to stay and watch her two sets of grandkids, along with the never-ending home improvement projects to their old house, to make it a more comfortable and inviting place for her children and grandchildren. To say she will be missed cannot be put into words; she was the rock of the family, and the one that brought everyone together. The lessons she taught, and relentless kindness and generosity she showed will be her legacy and serve to be a reminder and example to others on what a true angel is and pinnacle to strive for. Survivors: Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her sons Adam Oliver and his spouse Shannon Oliver, Joseph Oliver and his partner Kris Brandi, and Daniel Oliver and his spouse Lauren Oliver; her two sisters Sandee Williams and Wendy Brummond, as well as her 5 grandchildren Garrett, Bennett, Hunter, Callie, and Sadie. Services: Private cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Cresco. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bushkill Elementary in honor of her life's work dedicated to children. https://bushkillpto. com/donate-bespto"Show more
