NAUGLE - Nancy L. (Kring), 92, of Davidsville, passed away January 16, 2024 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born May 27, 1931 in Davidsville, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Stevens) Kring. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James A. Naugle; brother, Frederick Kring and his wife, Hilda and sister, Betty Good and her husband, Virgil. Survived by children, Brian J. married to Michele (Thomas) Naugle, Bruce A. Naugle, William E. Naugle and Beverly J. married to Michael Moyer, Sr., all of Davidsville; grandchildren, Robert and Joshua Naugle, Emilee and her husband, Michael Gerber, Haley, Adam and Eric Naugle, Ashley and her husband, Adam Kopp, Michael Moyer, Jr. and Nicole and her husband, Nick Norris and great-grandson, Oliver J. Kopp. Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School. As a young woman, she worked with her father in his general store C.R. Kring Merchandise and the post office in Davidsville. She was a lifelong member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Davidsville. Although she loved to travel, she was happiest at home raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Laurel View Village for their kindness and compassion in caring for Nancy. HOLSINGER – Charles Franklin., 85, of Davidsville, passed away December 29, 2023 in Davidsville as a result of an auto accident. Born June 10, 1938 in Hagerstown, MD. Son of Harry Holsinger and Dora Thurmond. Preceded in death by parents and step-father, Jack Thurmond. Survived by wife of 65 years, Yvonne C. (DeFrehn) Holsinger; son, Dr. David Holsinger and wife Kim of Ebensburg; grandsons, Dr. Dan Holsinger and wife Cassandra of Cheyenne, WY, Dr. Brian Holsinger and wife Ally of Shippensburg, Scott Holsinger and girlfriend Mandi and Matt Holsinger and girlfriend Lauryn both of Ebensburg and great-granddaughter Hannah Holsinger. Charles was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School in Maryland and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a printing apprentice in Washington, DC and a former employee of Miller Picking Co., Davidsville and Altoona Times Tribune. He then operated his own printing business - Holsinger Typesetting. He retired from McIllwain Bussing where he drove bus for Johnstown and Westmont Schools. He was one of the founding members of the Conemaugh Township Youth Baseball League. Also a member of former Conemaugh Township Jaycees and Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Johnstown where he sang in the choir, was a youth group leader, lay minister and mission leader. He enjoyed raising fish in his aquariums, going to the Niagara River fishing with his family, vacationing in Ocean City, MD and rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Charles was a devoted and caring husband who especially treasured time with his family and church family. A private burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at approximately 11:45 AM following the Sunday church service on January 7th at Franklin Street Church with Pastor Terry Knipple presiding. Survived by daughters, Holly married to Christopher Kapitan and Wendy married to Ken Ponczek; grandsons, Christopher and Haden Kapitan; sister, Ginger Gindlesperger and numerous nieces and nephews. Eva was a 1954 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Former employee of Dorfman & Hoffman Garment Factories, Jack's Supermarket and St. Clair's Supermarket. She attended the former Laurel Mountain Grace Brethren Church, Jennerstown. In her spare time she enjoyed drawing and painting, writing poems and solving crossword and word search puzzles. Smith: Neil William, 97, of Homewood at Martinsburg (formerly of Davidsville), died November 28, 2023, at Homewood at Martinsburg. Neil was born June 10, 1926, in Johnstown, the son of Neil and Margaret Elizabeth (Cramer) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty. He is survived by his wife of 73 years Audrey Jane (Cobaugh) Smith, his loving daughter Patricia married to Mark of NC, and his loving grandchildren: Ryan of PA, Caitlin of NC, and Brendan of Washington DC. He was also the great-grandfather to two great-granddaughters, Sophia and Alexis. Neil was a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church in Johnstown where he served as chairman of many committees. He retired from the Drug House in Ferndale as a manager. In his retirement, he enjoyed wood working and made many solid wood items that his family now enjoys. Neil was a proud World War II Navy veteran. He served on a minesweeper, the USS Recruit, in the Pacific Theatre. A private entombment will be at the Grandview Mausoleum and a Celebration of Life service will be held in the near future at Homewood at Martinsburg. Some of his favorite things to do were having breakfast with friends and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. He also treasured his time hunting with his longtime friend Dave Wingard. A memorial service will be held 11AM Friday, November 17 at Stahl Mennonite Church, 1201 Soap Hollow Road, Johnstown with Pastor Keith Yoder presiding.
