It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Clark announce her passing on October 7, 2023 The loving hands of God have lifted up Barbara She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J Vogler, of Rio Verde, Arizona, and son, Edward W Clark, of Richardson, Texas She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J (Jack) Clark Barbara was born Oct 22, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Harold H and Amy Strohhecker The Strohheckers later moved to Long Island, where Barbara spent her childhood in the villages of Lynbrook and Malvern In 1954 she wed Jack Clark of Queens, New York, and the Clarks later moved to Bedford Village, New York, where they started their family and raised their children In 1977 Barbara and Jack moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they became part of the Coastal Bend community Barbara can be best remembered for her love of America and passion for voting She became an active member of the League of Women Voters in the 1960's and she loved the Statue of Liberty and its symbolism of freedom and democracy She was an accomplished tennis player and enjoyed handcrafts like sewing, knitting and quilting--crafting an array of colorful quilts in her lifetime, each with their own story She was a regular at the annual Houston Quilt Festival each November Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church, Corpus Christi Around town she actively supported the Corpus Christi Symphony, Art Museum of South Texas, Padre Island National Seashore, and enjoyed the annual Corpus Christi Jazz Festival, Rockport Hummingbird Festival, and occasional outing to see the Corpus Christi Hooks Jackson, Wyoming, became one of her favorite spots as the family gathered annually in the Tetons beginning in 2010 She loved crossword puzzles, the Brooklyn Dodgers, Eric Sloane paintings and books, and anything related to Queen Elizabeth She will be interred with her husband at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York A celebration of life will be held at a later date In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Salvation Army of Corpus Christi, or to the charity of your choice Barbara's family will be forever grateful to Jo Snyder for her devoted friendship and loving care for Barbara, effectively extending her independence and dignity

Esmeralda R. Castillo, age 75, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on May 11, 1948 to Julio Resendez and Adelaida Sarmiento Martinez in Falfurrias, Texas. Esmeralda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, plastic canvasing, and watching her favorite novelas. She loved to try her luck on scratch off lottery tickets as she enjoyed her favorite snacks, sherbet ice cream and diet coke. Esmeralda never lost sight of her Christian faith as she loyally listened to bible readings and Christian music numerous times a day. She also adored watching her brother and nephew preach any chance she could get. She had an unmatched sense of humor and liked to joke and make people laugh. Her memory was boundless and you could not try to get anything passed her. The most precious memory that will be missed by her children, whom she loved dearly, is her daily "roll call" phone conversations where she made sure to check in with them. Her heart was so loving and pure and she will be missed by so many. Esmeralda is preceded in death by her beloved parents; husband, Felipe Castillo; sons, Moises Castillo, Juan Felipe Castillo and George Castillo and granddaughter, Cynthia Marie Garcia. She is survived by her son, Antonio (Araceli) Castillo of Premont, Texas; daughters, Yolanda Castillo of Plainview, Texas, Angelica Castillo of Falfurrias and Rosalinda (Humberto) Trevino of Premont; brothers, Ovidio Martinez of Seagraves, Texas, Juan Martinez and Luciano (Sylvia) Martinez both of Plainview, Jose (Gracie) Martinez and Gaspar (Irma) Martinez both of Dumas, Texas and Arnulfo (Josie) Martinez of Hale Center, Texas; sisters, Maria S. Castillo of Falfurrias, Ofelia Castillo and Elidora (Wallace) Shackelford both of Plainview and Irma (Jesse) Castillo of Abilene, Texas; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Eliberto Guerra Jr. , Juan Antonio Garcia, Jr. , Marty Martinez, Jr. , Felipe Trevino, Mario Vargas, Alonzo Castillo and Gabriel Castillo. Honorary Pallbearer is Isidro Castillo. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a. m. In Loving Memory of Roy Ruben Lucio Roy Ruben Lucio, a compassionate brother, father, and devoted son, departed this world on December 1, 2023, at the young age of 63. Born on March 21, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Roy was a man of deep love and generosity. He is preceded in death by his beloved and cherished Mother, Rebecca Bazan, Father Jesus Lucio Sr. , oldest brother Jesus Lucio Jr. , sister Leonor Lucio, and brother Ricardo Lucio. Left to cherish his memories are his surviving siblings: Lucy Trevino (Javier), Linda Ponce (Rico), Miguel Joe Lucio, Yolanda Leal, Juanita Hernandez, Margarita Vasquez (Jerry), Patsy Lucio, a daughter he loved very much, Jennifer Lucio, a special lady, Connie Guerra, and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for his family. Roy was a dedicated and hardworking individual, always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. In addition to his strong work ethic, Roy had a profound adoration for his mother, Rebecca Bazan, who he regarded with utmost reverence. His compassion extended not only to his human family members but also to the furry friends he cherished as an avid animal lover. Roy had a youthful spirit, always approaching life with a childlike enthusiasm that endeared him to those around him. On December 1, 2023, Roy's earthly journey came full circle as his angel and mother, Rebecca Bazan, came to take him home. Although he is no longer physically present, the memories of Roy's love, generosity, and playful nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him, and may his spirit continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his life's journey. Irene Mitchell, who cherished her Catholic faith, passed into eternal rest on Friday, December 1 at the age of 93. In 1948 she married Weaver J. Mitchell and together they raised their five wonderful, successful children. A stay at home Mom in the childrens' early years, she worked hard at being a good homemaker, wife, and mother. During those years she worked part time as a driver for daycare and did home toy sales. Later she worked for Western Steel Co. , CCAD, IBEW Federal Credit Union, and DOCC Federal Credit Union. She also volunteered at Spohn Hospital and Drs. Regional Medical Center and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the fraternal organization SPJST Lodge 79. Irene loved crafting of all kinds and shared that with her children. She was especially fond of knitting and crocheting. There was always an afghan in the making. She enjoyed the outdoors and all the colorful birds at the ranch and hunting with Weaver. She loved taking her grandchildren to the ranch which always included a stop at the local Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. She kept a stock of Snickers on hand for them- one of their favorite treats. The grandchildren first learned to drive at the ranch in an old stick shift pickup; before they were of age to get their learner's permit. Irene loved playing cards and dominos, especially Skip-Bo with her adult children and domino trains with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Dr. Allan Mitchell and wife Dr. Cris Stiles of Heath, TX, and her daughters Diane Moody of Corpus Christi, TX, Beverly Davenport and husband Gary of Boerne, TX, and Marilyn Carpenter of Easton, MD. Also surviving are grandchildren Dr. Wayne Mitchell, James Moody, Dr. Crystal Davenport De La Cerda, Cindy Davenport Turner, and Dr. Cathryn Davenport Naranjo. The great grandchildren are Fritz, Hans, and Gretchen Turner, Gage, Jade, and Wade Davenport, Rocco, Cianni, Lanikai, and Belicia De La Cerda, Gabby, RJ, and AJ Naranjo and Arlo Hames. Her great-great grandchild is Evelyn Klash. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Joe Sevcik and Annie Mraz Sevcik Peters, husband Weaver (they were married 69 years and 9 months), son Wayne Joseph Mitchell, and grandchildren Keith Lawrence Moody, Cheryl Anne Marie Davenport, and Gary Ryan Davenport, and foster daughter Seija Lahtinen of Helsinki, Finland. The family extends their appreciation to Irene's long-time friend and caregiver, Josie; her "adopted" grandson and hairdresser, Ramon; and to the caring staff at Harbor Hospice. A public visitation will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. Maria Eva Trujillo, age 90, passed away on November 24, 2023. She was born on April 25, 1933 to Jose Soliz and Maria Lerma. Eva enjoyed having her family around. She loved traveling with the family. Her favorite place was Florida. She loved walking on the beach collecting shells. She loved to read, work on word searches, going dancing and listening to music while either singing or whistling along. She was truly a Miller Buccaneers fan and band sponsor. She attended all band functions and was known to everyone as "Mom". Eva worked as a car hop, a housekeeper to several families, at Boatner's Delicatessen, a Granny for CCISD where she helped elementary students. She also worked at Spohn Hospital as a custodian, where she later retired from. She will always be remembered for her hard work to provide for her family, often working 2 to 3 jobs to make sure her family had everything they needed. She had several sayings but her favorite was, "Oh Well, That's Life". Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Trujillo Sr. and her son, Jesse Trujillo (who will be watching sunrises together). She is survived by her sons, John (Virginia) Trujillo, Fidel (Kathy) Trujillo Jr. , Joe (Rose) Trujillo, daughter, Linda Alaniz, daughter (granddaughter), Delma (Lester) Trujillo Lindley, four granddaughters, Denise, Veronica, Andrea, Kimberly, five grandsons, J. J. , Jesse Jr. , Daniel, Sebastian, Tristan, five great granddaughters, Alexandrea, Brittany, Marianna, Kourtney, Kylie, eight great-grandsons, Robert, Anthony, Jetsen, Alex, Jiovanni, Gabriel, Jolton and Jeremiah. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00 p. m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
