Barbara Ann Kennedy Case, 90, of Greenwood Village, Colorado (most recently of Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care), died in her sleep on September 4, 2023. She was born December 18, 1932 and raised in Indianola, Iowa where she graduated from Simpson College with a bachelor's degree in childhood education. She met her husband of 57 years, Lyle, while at Simpson. She was a lifelong member of the Tri-Delta sorority starting at Simpson. She is survived by her three children Steven Case, of New Canaan, Connecticut; Jeffrey Case, of West Des Moines, Iowa; and Kimberly Malek, of Greenwood Village, Colorado; their spouses Laura, Myla, and Hany; as well as nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Barbara worked as an elementary teacher in Iowa City, Iowa, while her husband Lyle, who predeceased her in 2012, attended graduate school at the University of Iowa. She worked as a substitute teacher and raised her three children as Lyle climbed the corporate ladder as an exploration geologist at Texaco. She managed family moves to Kansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Connecticut, Texas, and, ultimately, South Denver when the family settled in Green Oaks in 1977. Barbara was an active part of the Green Oaks community for many years and also a strong supporter of women's advancement through her involvement with P. E. O. Her support of her family was unconditional and was most clearly demonstrated during her 15 years of daily commitment to caring for Lyle, after a serious car accident left him a quadriplegic. Barbara loved to cook. Her Iowa-inspired dinners, her scalloped potatoes, and her Christmas Cookies were loved by everyone who had the pleasure of enjoying them. She loved her home and enjoyed decorating. There were always beautiful flowers and candy dishes full of treats for her grandchildren. Her smile, her sense of humor, and her unwavering love for her family and friends will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a. m. , Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 200 South Howard, Indianola, Iowa 50125. She will have her final resting place next to Lyle in the Indianola I. O. O. F. Cemetery. A Celebration of Life to honor Barbara will be held in Greenwood Village at her daughter Kim's home in Green Oaks during December. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lyle and
